Higher Coxeter graphs associated to affine su(3) modular invariants

The affine su(3)su(3) modular invariant partition functions in 2d RCFT are associated with a set of generalized Coxeter graphs. These partition functions fall into two classes, the block-diagonal (Type I) and the non block-diagonal (Type II) cases, associated, from spectral properties, to the subsets of subgroup and module graphs respectively. We introduce a modular operator T^\hat{T} taking values on the set of vertices of the subgroup graphs. It allows us to obtain easily the associated Type I partition functions. We also show that all Type II partition functions are obtained by the action of suitable twists ϑ\vartheta on the set of vertices of the subgroup graphs. These twists have to preserve the values of the modular operator T^\hat{T}.Comment: Version 2. Abstract, introduction and conclusion rewritten, references added. 36 page

A simple maximum power point tracking based control strategy applied to a variable speed squirrel cage induction generator

This paper presents a comprehensive modelling and control study of a variable speed wind energy conversion system based on a squirrel-cage induction generator (SCIG). The mathematical model of the SCIG is derived in Park frame along with the indirect field oriented control (IFOC) scheme based on a proportional and integral speed controller. A simple maximum power point tracking strategy is used to determine the optimal speed under variable wind speed conditions which is then used as the reference in the IFOC scheme. Power flow between the supply and the inverter is regulated via simultaneous control of the active and reactive currents of the grid and the DC link voltage. The simulation results show that the proposed control technique is able to maximise the energy extracted from the wind during the simulation scenarios considered. The results also demonstrate good transient response characteristics in the decoupled real and reactive powers.Peer reviewedFinal Accepted Versio

Bilateral stellate neuroretinitis revealing a pheochromocytoma

Neuroretinitis (NR) is an inflammatory disorder characterized by optic disc  edema and subsequent formation of a macular star. We present a case of a 33 year old woman patient admitted for a progressive bilateral visual loss since two weeks. Fundus examination showed bilateral stellate neuroretinitis. Physical examination revealed a malignant hypertension of 210/150mmHg. Magnetic resonance imaging identified a left suprarenal mass, whereas urinary catecholamine level was abnormally high which supported a diagnosis of pheochromocytoma. The patient underwent a laparoscopic left suprarenal adrenalectomy after successful control of blood pressure. histopathologic examination confirmed the diagnosis of pheochromocytoma. Visual acuity was restored and the retinal alterations disappeared 7 months after surgery

Exceptional quantum subgroups for the rank two Lie algebras B2 and G2

Exceptional modular invariants for the Lie algebras B2 (at levels 2,3,7,12) and G2 (at levels 3,4) can be obtained from conformal embeddings. We determine the associated alge bras of quantum symmetries and discover or recover, as a by-product, the graphs describing exceptional quantum subgroups of type B2 or G2 which encode their module structure over the associated fusion category. Global dimensions are given.Comment: 33 pages, 27 color figure
