Love and Truth in Social Involvement of the Church

This study begins with a brief outline of the essence of the whole encyclical Caritas in veritate. Benedict XVI expresses the desire for „the dialogue with the world”. He understands this dialogue as a special kind of the service of the Church towards eternal love and truth, fully revealed in Christ. The dialogue of the Church with the world, in the spirit of love and truth, is accomplished every day at the level of so-called official relations. There are numerous opinions that in the past the Church repeatedly neglected the dialogue with the world. Indeed, the Church historians point out the existence of examples of the fall of the authority of the Holy See in particular countries and circumstances. Similarly, the Church is the sign of objection in the contemporary world. Instructed by past experiences the Church is aware that what is necessary for the renewal of culture and society, is evangelical love and truth

Clinical and Functional Characterization of a Missense ELF2 Variant in a CANVAS Family

Cerebellar ataxia with neuropathy and bilateral vestibular areflexia syndrome (CANVAS) is a rare disorder with an unknown etiology. We present a British family with presumed autosomal dominant CANVAS with incomplete penetrance and variable expressivity. Exome sequencing identified a rare missense variant in the ELF2 gene at chr4:g.140058846 C > T, c.10G > A, p.A4T which segregated in all affected patients. By using transduced BE (2)-M17 cells, we found that the mutated ELF2 (mt-ELF2) gene increased ATXN2 and reduced ELOVL5 gene expression, the causal genes of type 2 and type 38 spinocerebellar ataxias. Both, western blot and confocal microscopy confirmed an increase of ataxin-2 in BE(2)-M17 cells transduced with lentivirus expressing mt-ELF2 (CEE-mt-ELF2), which was not observed in cells transduced with lentivirus expressing wt-ELF2 (CEE-wt-ELF2). Moreover, we observed a significant decrease in the number and size of lipid droplets in the CEE-mt-ELF2-transduced BE (2)-M17 cells, but not in the CEE-wt-ELF2-transduced BE (2)-M17. Furthermore, changes in the expression of ELOVL5 could be related with the reduction of lipid droplets in BE (2)-M17 cells. This work supports that ELF2 gene regulates the expression of ATXN2 and ELOVL5 genes, and defines new molecular links in the pathophysiology of cerebellar ataxias

Pilne zadanie uczniów Chrystusa: głosić radość Ewangelii we współczesnym świecie

Often we hear the opinions of the people who complain of the lack of ability in communication to other people of the gift of the Gospel message (e.g. Seeking the truth about God – non-believers or doubters) in a manner understandable to them. That is why it is so important in view of the appearing difficulties, do not lose patience and always counted on the help of God, which is reliably given, because the matter of knowledge of revealed truths and the joy of knowledge flowing from its, it is not a trivial and unimportant matter. This is a central issue in the whole work of evangelization. In this spirit Pope Francis in his Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii gaudium calls all believers to engage personally in zealous proclamation of the joy of the Gospel. This task should be treated as an urgent task, taking into consideration specific circumstances of everyday life in contemporary world. This study is an analysis of several examples of the challenges that – in accordance with the teachings of Pope Francis – should not reduce the apostolic commitment and enthusiasm. On the contrary, they confirme more and more that the proclamation of the joy of the Gospel is an urgent task in the contemporary world.Słychać często opinie ludzi wierzących, skarżących się na brak umiejętności przekazywania innym daru orędzia Ewangelii (np. poszukującym prawdy o Bogu ludziom niewierzącym czy wątpiącym) w sposób dla nich zrozumiały. Dlatego tak ważne jest, aby wobec pojawiających się trudności, nie tracili cierpliwości oraz zawsze liczyli na Bożą pomoc, która niezawodnie jest udzielona, gdyż kwestia poznania prawd objawionych i radość z tego poznania płynąca nie jest sprawą błahą i nieważną. To kwestia zasadnicza w całym dziele ewangelizacji. W tym duchu papież Franciszek w swej adhortacji apostolskiej Evangelii gaudium wzywa wszystkich wierzących do gorliwego zaangażowania się w głoszenie radości Ewangelii. Należy traktować to zadanie jako pilne, biorąc pod uwagę konkretne uwarunkowania codziennego życia we współczesnym świecie. Niniejsze studium jest analizą kilku przykładów wyzwań, które – zgodnie z nauczaniem papieża Franciszka – mogą przyczynić się do wzrostu apostolskiego zaangażowania i zapału, potwierdzając, że głoszenie Ewangelii jest we współczesnym świecie zadaniem pilnym

Wiara źródłem radosnego świadectwa o Chrystusie

Faith and joy are closely linked. The fullness of joy depends on the level of faith. However, today’s world observation brings alarming data, which show that many believers in Christ remain on a joy that is “temporary”, “shallow”, “unworthy” and “sinful”. As a consequence they lose connection with the evangelization promoted by the Church. Faith as God’s gift requires a specific answer from a man. This study is a recollection of a theological argumentation (especially biblical and ecclesiological), according to which deep faith is indispensable to give joyful testimony to Christ.Wiara i radość są ze sobą ściśle powiązane. Pełnia radości zależy od stopnia wiary. Obserwacja współczesnego świata przynosi jednak niepokojące dane, według których wielu wierzących w Chrystusa zatrzymuje się na radości „chwilowej”, „płytkiej”, „niegodnej”, „grzesznej”. W konsekwencji traci związek z prowadzonym przez Kościół dziełem ewangelizacji. Będąc Bożym darem, wiara domaga się konkretnej odpowiedzi ze strony człowieka. Niniejsze studium jest przypomnieniem argumentacji teologicznej (szczególnie biblijnej i eklezjologicznej), według której głęboka wiara jest nieodzowna do dawania radosnego świadectwa o Chrystusie

Współczesny „przymus niewiary” wyzwaniem dla ekumenizmu

The Church teaching and reflections made by theologians do not leave any room for doubts concerning the personal character of Christian faith. Faith is a conscious and free decision; decision that cannot be forced, nor forbidden in any way. This study analysis shows that the ecumenical dialogue faces the necessity to defend faith against open or hidden violation of the rule of freedom of religion. This is about common voice that has evangelical and ecumenical character. Despite differences that are still present in Christianity, all Christ’s disciples should explicitly stand for the freedom of religion and at the same give an obvious evidence that faith is a priceless treasure received from God.Nauczanie Kościoła i refleksja teologów nie pozostawia wątpliwości co do osobowego charakteru wiary chrześcijańskiej. Wiara jest decyzją rozumną i wolną; decyzją, która nie może być w jakikolwiek sposób wymuszana ani zabraniana. Analiza zawarta w niniejszym studium wskazuje, że dialog ekumeniczny stoi wobec konieczności obrony wiary przed jawnym lub ukrytym łamaniem zasady wolności religijnej. Activismo y contractivismo - arte y movilizaciones estudiantiles en el Chile reciente

Desde mediados del 2011 los centros de las principales ciudades de Chile se han ido llenando de acciones, intervenciones, lienzos gigantes, objetos escultóricos efímeros y performance, espontáneas algunas, calculadas y meditadas otras, todas compartiendo un tema y un contenido: el estado polémico de la educación en el país. Aun cuando han perseguido un objetivo común, ciertas manifestaciones se diferenciaron de otras por estar impulsadas por una evidente voluntad de obra o proyecto artístico, por ser coordinadas y realizadas por colectivos de estudiantes de arte o bien por tener un grado de complejidad mayor que la simple y llana estética panfletaria. Mi intención en esta ponencia es analizar estas manifestaciones como parte de un incipiente escenario que hunde sus raíces y se vincula con mayor fuerza al arte público contemporáneo, particularmente a las líneas del activismo y el contra-monumento
