Features of model coronaviruses distribution in feline organs and tissues in the context of COVID-19 pathogenesis study
To date, the reisreason to believe that, unlike classical a cuterespiratory virusinfections caused by adenoviruses, rhinoviruses, orthomyxoviruses, COVID-19 behaves completely differently. Firstly, the pathological process esare likely to be immune-mediated and the immun esystem quites lowly ensurest heelimination of the virus from the organism. Secondly, the dynamics of the diseases ymptom development and the duration of intestinal virusshedding after recovery give reason to believe that theSARS-CoV-2 infection is mainly localizedin the intestine. A possible reason isthat in the presence of proteolyticenzymes, viral particlesmature, hydrophilic aminoacids are removed from the surface of the virion, making it more hydrophobic and able to ad here to cells due to hydrophobic interactions. The presence of the ACE2 recept or mainly in the enterocytes of the ileumdoes not exclude the accumulation of coronavirusin lymphocytes, given that there are more lymphocytes in the gastrointestinal tract than anywhere else, this fact can beconsidered as another justification for the predominant accumulation of coronaviruses, including SARS-CoV-2 in the intestine. A distinctive feature of feline coronavirus infection and, in particular, infectious feline peritonitis, from human COVID-19 infection was considered to be the presence of effusion peritonitis as the main complication leading to death, while respiratory and card iovascular in sufficiency is more characteristic for humans. Never the less, cases of serous peritonitis in humans infected with COVID-19 have already been described. In the context of the analyzed model,Β theclinical case describedin the study allows principal possibility of exacerbation of chronic coronavirus infection in caseof re-infection (superinfection) and development of apredominantlylocal infection

Study of the composition of biologically active compounds in chaga meal. Perspectives of application of chaga meal in pharmaceutical industry
Methods of utilization of chaga meal are reviewed. Extraction of chaga meal with ethanol, chloroform, and tert-butyl methyl ether gives compounds possessing a high antioxidant activity. A wide spectrum of other biologically active compounds was found in these extracts. These compounds can be used for production of drugs and biologically active additives. Oddball blocks with the standard stimulus (1 000 Hz) and two deviant stimuli (1 020 and 980 Hz) were presented before and after the tetanizing block (presentation of one of the deviant tones (1 020 Hz) every 75 ms, during 2 minutes). The MMN component in response to the tetanized and nonetanized tone became different after tetanization, even though it did not differ before tetanization. The mean MMN value correlated with discriminability in a psychophysical task, but the behavioral improvement after tetanization was not detected
Assessment of the views of students of stomatological faculty on the issues about different types of smoking
The article presents the results of a sociological survey of students of 3, 4 and 5 courses of the dental faculty of UGMU on the topic of "Smoking". The percentage of smoking and non-smoking students, the analysis of the prevalence of different types of smoking. The attitude of students-dentists to modem gadgets: electronic cigarettes and vape is clarified. The article presents the data of domestic and foreign authors on the features of the oestrous process of American minks. The results of studies of the cytological structure of the vaginal smear in American minks during estrus are presented. The study was conducted on clinically healthy American mink females of the Standard dark brown (+/+) genotype in 92 animals before the technological rut (February 20-28). A vaginal smear was taken at different periods of changes in the external genital organs - the genital loop, taking into account the scoring of its development (from 0 to 5 points). Microscopic examination of smears taken during this period showed a predominance of superficial, intermediate, and parabasal cells and a small number of basal and spindle cells. The analysis of the nuclear-cytoplasmic ratio made it possible to indicate the specificity of the morphometric parameters of the cells of the vaginal integumentary epithelium. Surface epitheliocytes and intermediate cells have a sizeable cytoplasmic area and a low nuclear-cytoplasmic ratio of 0.034. Parabasal cells have the minimum size of the nucleus and cytoplasm but a high value of the nuclear-cytoplasmic percentage, seven times higher than that of superficial cells and three times intermediate. Quantitative proportions of epithelial cells of the vaginal smear cytogram from February 20 to 28 correspond to the proestrus-estrus stage. The data obtained indicate significant features of the morphological changes in the integumentary epithelium of the vagina and the difference in the cytological dynamics of the oestrous cycle in American minks from other mammals. The cytogram of the vaginal smear of minks with a 4-5 point assessment of the readiness of females for mating does not contain the predominant number of keratinized epithelial cells, which is characteristic of most mammals during the period of ovulation. The article presents the results of studies on the effect of different doses of Biosteel, when administered orally, on the reproductive ability of American mink females of the Standard dark brown (+/+) genotype with a positive and negative defensive reaction to humans. The studies were carried out at the Department of Obstetrics, Anatomy and Histology of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education of the Novosibirsk State Agrarian University and based on the Mustelidae Genetics Sector of the Center for Collective Use βGene Pools of Fur and Agricultural Animalsβ of the Institute of Cytology and Genetics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In the technology of reproduction of animals of the experimental and control groups, the system of conducting the rut, generally accepted on fur farms, was used. Biosteel was applied to females and males of Standard dark brown (+/+) American mink of manual and aggressive types of behaviour at a dose of 0.05 ml/kg and 0.025 ml/kg of body weight before mating for five days and during mating for five days. The effectiveness of using Biosteel to improve the reproductive function of females depended on its dose and the type of animal behaviour. Compared with the minks of the control groups, the females of the experimental groups showed higher rates of reproductive ability. In the group of tame females that received the drug with food at a dose of 0.05 ml/kg of body weight, there were no dead females, the survival of puppies in the first seven days of life increased by 3.8 times, and there was a tendency to reduce stillbirths. Biosteel had a pronounced beneficial effect on the reproduction of females with an aggressive type of behaviour at a dose of 0.025 ml/kg of body weight: the integral reproduction index increased by 1.13 heads. And the number of females that successfully whelped by 17%, the number of females without offspring decreased by 5.9 times, and the mortality of minnows in the first seven days of life declined by 3.9%. Characterization of ZnSe scintillating bolometers for Double Beta Decay
ZnSe scintillating bolometers are good candidates for future Double Beta
Decay searches, because of the 82Se high Q-value and thanks to the possibility
of alpha background rejection on the basis of the scintillation signal. In this
paper we report the characteristics and the anomalies observed in an extensive
study of these devices. Among them, an unexpected high emission from alpha
particles, accompanied with an unusual pattern of the light vs. heat scatter
plot. The perspectives for the application of this kind of detectors to search
for the Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay of 82Se are presented.Comment: 12 pages, 10 figure
Theoretical and experimental study on cyclic 6-methyl-2,3,4- tris(hydroxymethyl)pyridin-5-ol acetonides
Methods for the preparation of three cyclic 2,3,4-tris(hydroxymethyl)-6- methylpyridin-5-ol acetonides have been developed by variation of the reaction conditions. The six-membered acetonide turned out to be thermodynamically more stable than the seven-membered acetonide and bis-acetonide. The experimental data were consistent with the results of quantum-chemical calculations. The structure of the isolated compounds was proved by X-ray analysis. Β© 2010 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd
