Not AvailableWe attempted to develop an improved and efficient regeneration protocol for this valuable medicinal species. Nodal explants cultured on MS medium supplemented with various concentrations of different growth hormone i.e. 2, 4-D, NAA and BAP alone or in combinations showed shoot induction or direct plantlet proliferation from the axillary buds. Highest multiplication rate (100 per cent) was obtained from nodal explants when MS medium supplemented with IBA (0.1 and 0.2 mg/l) along with BAP (2.0 mg/l), showed maximum number of plantlets 18.0±1.16 and 19.67±0.88 respectively. The in vitro raised plantlets were transplanted to mixture of sterile dune sand and FYM (3:1) with 70 % success in hardening and acclimatization under natural humidity conditionsNot Availabl

Not AvailableThe present study was explained about a direct and indirect regeneration protocol for an important wild medicinal plant Dioscorea deltoidea, a rich source of saponins and diosgenin. It was found that source of explant, basal medium composition, concentration of plant growth regulator and the photoperiod directly control morphogenetic responses. Out of all explants tested, only nodal segments performed better on the experimental growth media. Nodal segments initiated direct organogenesis when cultured on MS and RT (revised tobacco) medium supplemented with BAP and NAA or IBA. Growth medium supplemented with BAP (1.5 mg/l) and IBA (0.5 mg/l) induced maximum regeneration. Indirect roots regeneration was achieved on RT medium supplemented with IAA 1.0 mg/l and RT medium supplemented with BAP 1.0 mg/l and NAA 0.5 mg/l induced shoot regeneration through callus formed on MS medium containing 2, 4-D (2.0 mg/l).Not Availabl

Detection of Specific Polypeptide(s) Synthesized during the Sequential Stages of Differentiation in Dioscorea species

ABSTRACTThe present investigation was aimed to detect the specific polypeptide(s) appeared during the sequential stages of differentiation. Among different explants, only nodal explants showed good results for callusing. Depending on the fresh and dry weight, best callus growth was observed on MS medium supplemented with NAA (2.5 mg/L) inDioscorea alata and 2, 4-D (2.0 mg/L) inD. deltoidea, respectively. This callus was used for the regeneration. Roots differentiation was observed on MS medium + NAA (2.0 mg/L) + IBA (0.5 mg/L) and shoots on MS medium + BAP (2.0 mg/L) + NAA (0.5 mg/L) in D. alata while in D. deltoidea, roots on RT medium + IAA (1.0 mg/L) and shoots on RT medium + BAP (1.0 mg/L) + NAA (0.5 mg/L). Continuous decrease was seen in the total soluble protein during the differentiation inD. alatawhereas inD. deltoidea, the protein content decreased upto initiation stage. Four root specific polypeptides (MW 25.56, 24.35, 19.13 and 18.2 kDa) and three shoot specific polypeptides (MW 53.7, 25.12 and 19.13 kDa) were synthesized during the differentiation inD. alata. Similarly, two root specific (MW 33.9 and 31.69 kDa) and one shoot specific (MW 16.98 kDa) polypeptide band were appeared during differentiation in D. deltoidea

Not AvailableMungbean yellow mosaic India virus (MYMIV) infecting soybean and other legumes causes yellow mosaic disease (YMD). Evaluation of soybean genotypes for YMD resistance involves field screening at disease hot spots or in a protected environment using infectious clones or viruliferous whiteflies as sources of virus inocula. Development of efficient virus inoculation and quantification protocols to screen soybean genetic stocks against YMD is imperative for breeding resistant varieties. Binary plasmids harbouring complete, tandem dimeric genomic components DNA A and DNA B of MYMIV-soybean isolate were engineered. The infectivity of the clones was demonstrated in soybean genotypes JS335 and UPSM534 that display contrasting YMD resistance. As a follow-up, soybean germplasm lines, breeding lines, and representative cultivars that were initially screened at an YMD hot-spot were then subjected to Agrobacterium-based infection with MYMIV. Quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) based copy number analysis of MYMIV genomic components allowed soybean genotypes to be classified into three discrete categories; resistant, moderately resistant and susceptible to the viral infection. Thus, a soybean germplasm disease screening system based on agro-infection and qRT-PCR based quantification of MYMIV was developed to facilitate breeding YMD resistant soybean. The implications of this study for obtaining YMD resistant soybean cultivars are discussed. Not Availabl

Inventory lot-size models under trade credits: a review

[[abstract]]Since the publication of the Goyal model in 1985, research on the modeling of inventory lot-size under trade credits has resulted in a body of literature. In this paper, we present a review of the advances in inventory literature under conditions of permissible delay in payments since 1985. We classify all related previous articles into five categories based on: (a) without deterioration, (b) with deterioration, (c) with allowable shortage, (d) linked to order quantity, and (e) with inflation. The motivations, extensions and weaknesses of various previous models have been discussed in brief to bring out pertinent information regarding model developments in the past two decades.[[journaltype]]國外[[incitationindex]]SCI[[incitationindex]]SSCI[[incitationindex]]E
