Polarimetric properties of indoor MIMO channels for different floor levels in a residential house

    Get PDF
This paper analyzes polarimetric characteristics of power delay profiles (PDPs), cross polarization discrimination (XPD), and received power of specular and diffuse multipath components of indoor MIMO radio channels at 2.45 GHz. Measurements were done in a residential house at two floors levels: "same floor" and "cross floor". Variations of 5 to 15 dB in PDPs between co-and cross-polar links were found in the same floor level; however these changes decrease as radio links move from line-of-sight to non-line-of-sight propagations. XPDs of radio waves were found to be higher for cross floor configuration, about 5 dB in horizontally and 7 dB in vertically polarized waves. Also, diffuse components of channels were less affected compared to that of specular components in same floor setups for cross-polar links. Our results demonstrate that the contribution of diffuse components to total channel power is higher than previously presented studies for large industrial indoor environments

Chronic sinusitis, defined as an inflammatory process that involves the paranasal sinuses and persists for 12 weeks or longer. The conventional treatment is either conservative or surgical. Since this ailment is of a chronic nature, simple conservative management will not be sufficient for a cure. Even though the surgery is effective, there is chance of recurrence and morbidity. The clinical picture of chronic sinusitis shows the predominance of Kaphavata dosha in Jatrurdhwa. Sigru is a single drug having Thikshna ushna guna and Vatakaphahara properties and is included in Sirovirechana group. Arkaprakasa written by Ravana illustrates a large number of Arkas (distillates) which is found to be very effective and harmless and Sigrubeeja Arka nasya indicated in Siroroga was selected for the study. Methods: The study design was interventional pre and post evaluation without control and sample size fixed as 30 patients. The data collection was done with case proforma, symptomatic scoring using VAS scale, Nasal Signs and Symptoms Score (NSSS), and X-ray PNS. Selected patients were subjected to Nasyakarma with Sigrubeeja arka for a period of 7 days. Assessments were done prior to the commencement of intervention and on 15th, 30th, 60th day of follow up. Statistical analysis was done using Wilcoxon Signed Rank test. Result: Change in outcome variables like headache, nasal obstruction, nasal discharge, loss of smell, and postnasal drip, showed significant results. Conclusion: Sigrubeejaarka was found to be effective in chronic sinusitis

The purpose of the study was to find out the effect of inverted yoga practice and brain fitness exercises on self confidence of coastal area school students. For this, study was conducted on 90 boys who were studying in St. Francis HSS Arthunkal, Alappuzha, Kerala, India. The students age ranged from 13 to 16 years. The subjects were randomly arranged equally into 3 groups. Experimental Group I underwent inverted Yoga practice (No.30), Experimental Group II Underwent brain fitness exercise (No.30) and group III acted as a control group (No.30) who did not undergo any specific training programme. The training period was limited to 12 weeks. However both the groups continued to participate in their regular extracurricular activities during school hours. As far as the criterion variables of the present study were concerned, it was delimited to self-confidence. Standard methods were followed for the data extraction for each of the variables. Data of the entire groups were computed statistically by using analysis of co-variance (ANCOVA) to see the deliverance against the groups. If the ANCOVA was shown significant, Schaffee’s Post Hoe Test analysis were made to find out the paired mean difference. To test the hypothesis, 0.05 level of significant was taken in all the cases

Lack of inhibition of thrombin-induced rise in intracellular Ca2+ levels and 5-hydroxytryptamine secretion by 1-oleoyl-2-acetylglycerol in human platelets

AbstractThe effect of 1-oleoyl-2-acetylglycerol (OAG) on the thrombin-induced rise in intracellular Ca2+ levels ([Ca2+]i) and 5-hydroxy[14C]tryptamine ([14C]5HT) secretion was studied. In washed human platelets prelabelled with [14C]5HT and quin 2, OAG (10–50 μgml) induced no significant aggregation, [14C]5HT secretion or rise in [Ca2+]i in the presence or absence of fibrinogen. However, addition of OAG (10–50 μgml) 10 s to 5 min before or 10–60 s after addition of threshold concentrations of thrombin ( < 0.03 Uml) resulted in a significant potentiation of aggregation and [14C]5HT secretion without any effect on the thrombin-induced rise in [Ca2+]i. Both EGTA, which abolished the latter and creatine phosphate/creatine phosphokinase, the ADP scavenger, totally inhibited the aggregation but only partially reduced [14C]5HT secretion in response to thrombin plus OAG. At higher concentrations of thrombin, neither the rise in [Ca2+]i nor the extent of [14C]5HT secretion was significantly altered by OAG addition. The results demonstrate that, unlike phorbol esters, OAG has no inhibitory effect on thrombin-induced [Ca2+]i mobilisation but can synergize with low concentrations of thrombin in potentiating [14C]5HT secretion even at basal [Ca2+]i

This work presents a measurement-based polarimetric analysis of the specular- and dense multipath components (SMCs and DMC) in a large industrial warehouse. MIMO channel sounding measurements were carried out in a flower auction warehouse, and were processed with the RiMAX multipath estimation framework. In the analysis, we investigate the behavior of the SMCs and the DMC power as a function of both the polarization and the transmitter-receiver distance for 1507 distinct positions of the receiver. The cross-polar discrimination of the transmitted V and H polarizations were analyzed statistically for this environment, as well as the relative power ratio of the DMC, and the DMC reverberation time

HERMIONE: a randomized Phase 2 trial of MM-302 plus trastuzumab versus chemotherapy of physician's choice plus trastuzumab in patients with previously treated, anthracycline-naïve, HER2-positive, locally advanced/metastatic breast cancer.

BackgroundHuman epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive breast cancer is a particularly aggressive form of the disease, and ultimately progresses in patients with metastases on standard therapies. Anthracyclines, such as doxorubicin, are an effective treatment for HER2-positive breast cancer, particularly when administered in combination with trastuzumab - however, doxorubicin-related cardiotoxicity has limited its use. Many patients are therefore never treated with anthracyclines, even upon disease progression, despite the potential for benefit. MM-302 is a novel, HER2-targeted antibody-liposomal doxorubicin conjugate that specifically targets HER2-overexpressing cells. Preclinical and Phase 1 data suggest that MM-302, as a monotherapy or in combination with trastuzumab, could be effective for managing previously treated, anthracycline-naïve, HER2-positive breast cancer, without the cardiotoxicity observed with free doxorubicin formulations.Methods/designHERMIONE is an open-label, multicenter, randomized (1:1) Phase 2 trial of MM-302 plus trastuzumab versus chemotherapy of physician's choice (gemcitabine, capecitabine, or vinorelbine) plus trastuzumab planned to enroll 250 anthracycline-naïve patients with locally advanced/metastatic HER2-positive breast cancer. Key inclusion criteria are: previous treatment with trastuzumab (with or without pertuzumab) in any setting; refractory or intolerant to pertuzumab (refractory to pertuzumab defined as progression in the locally advanced or metastatic setting, or disease recurrence during or within 12 months of completing pertuzumab-containing neoadjuvant and/or adjuvant therapy); and disease progression on, or intolerant to, ado-trastuzumab emtansine for locally advanced or metastatic disease. The trial is currently being conducted at sites in the USA, Canada, and Western Europe. Treatment will be administered in 21-day cycles, and will be continued until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity. The primary endpoint is independently assessed progression-free survival (PFS). Tumor response will be assessed every 6 weeks, and defined according to RECIST v1.1. Secondary endpoints include investigator-assessed PFS, overall survival (OS), OS rates at 6 months and 1 year, objective response rates, safety and tolerability, quality of life, and the pharmacokinetic profile of MM-302 plus trastuzumab.DiscussionThe HERMIONE study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of MM-302 plus trastuzumab in patients with refractory HER2-positive advanced/metastatic breast cancer for whom there are no standard of care therapies with a proven survival advantage.Trial registrationClinicaltrials.gov identifier: NCT02213744 .
