Sustainable Water Supply: Rainwater Harvesting for Multistoried Residential Apartments in Dhaka, Bangladesh
Rainwater harvesting is a familiar term for Bangladesh. People in areas that lack drinking
water, particularly the coastal areas and the rural areas in the country, practice rain water
harvesting. The high annual rainfall in the country makes rainwater harvesting a logical
solution for the arsenic contamination of ground water in Bangladesh (Rahman et al.
2003). Also, the increasing population in the urban as well as rural areas is putting
increased load on underground aquifers which is evident in the fact that the piezometric
level in Dhaka has decreased by more than 65 feet in the last decade. The annual rain fall
that the city receives may be an effective answer to the recharge of aquifers. Rain water
harvesting during the rainy season can reduce the increasing load on groundwater levels.
This study aims to provide some guidelines for economic rainwater harvesting system,
especially for urban areas for specific user groups. These guidelines were formulated
through literature review, analysis of some case studies on rainwater harvesting, and, to a
certain extent, practical experience of the researcher. Data from secondary sources have
also been used for the purpose. The guidelines have been formulated using existing data
on rainwater harvesting systems. Based on these guidelines, a mathematical model has
been developed to figure out cistern sizes for collection of rainwater. The solution is
applied to a typical plan of an apartment house in Dhaka (multistoried) using
programming and visualization so as to demonstrate the scope and benefit of integration
of rain water harvesting technique with the architectural design. The harvested rainwater definitely does not meet the basic domestic requirement, but
supplements it during the rainy season which, most importantly, is usable for individual
household use. Large-scale rainwater harvesting also, hopefully, results in a decrease of
seasonal flooding in the urban areas. The products of this research are a) a computer
program for sizing cisterns and b) an animation of the proposed rainwater harvesting
system that may be used as a tool to demonstrate the benefits of the technique
Online Brand Awareness: Determining the Relative Importance of Facebook and Other Strategies among the Malaysian Consumers
The purpose of this study is to determine the relative importance of facebook with other strategies like affiliate marketing and word of mouth in creating online brand awareness. Both exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis is used in the study. The study chooses 303 Malaysian frequent internet users as the respondents. In confirmatory factor analysis, a structural equation modelling (SEM) approach is applied to determine the relationship among the exogenous and endogenous constructs. The study finds facebook as the most influential online brand awareness creating strategies followed by the affiliated marketing and online word of mouth. In creating the online brand awareness; all the strategies have positive influence, however. The study can be a useful guideline for managerial implication in practice
An Exertion to Alleviate Stitch Defects During Garments Production
In garments industry sewing is the most critical phase during an apparel production. Different types of sewing and stitching defects are occured in this phase due to various problems. As todayโs world each customer is expecting a very high quality garments with product variety, it has become a very challenging task for garments quality management. Here all the data were collected from Gardenia Wears Limited situated at Barmi- Sreepur, Gazipur, Dhaka and data were analyzed for reducing Defects per Hundred Unit (DHU%) and also top 10 stitch defects were identified and analyzed later. Finally the work shows reduction of DHU% from 5.23% to 3.48% and also reduce the top ten stitch defects with comparison to before trial and after trial data of ten days and it is proved that an industry can achieve higher production capability & profitability with improved quality product and also saving cost due to reducing DHU%
An Analytic Real-Time Framework for IoT based Home Automation System
The Internet of Things or IoT means the ability to connect billions of physical devices around the world that are now linking to the internet for collecting and sharing data. Internet of Things (IoT) technologies is used to sense the real-time primordial manufacture data and included the energy alliance data and the provision circumstance data. The Internet of Things (IoT) will approve any contents to be sensed or monitored remotely wherever there any remaining network infrastructure, making amenities for the integration of the actual world into computer-based systems. Real-time narrates the path of flowing media is processing. In the real-time procedure, anyone can entrance information barring to narrate for it and save our time. In our proposed system, we build a system where we calculate real-time. To compute real-time, we need an IoT based automated system. And here we use an IoT based home automation system. We are passing data through the system for collecting data with the help of Cisco Packet Tracer simulator. For calculating real-time performance, we use six performance metrics to evaluate the event detection system performance. They are sensitivity, specificity, precision, accuracy, F1-score, and G-mean
A Security Framework for IOT Based Smart Home Automation System
The Internet of Things (IOT) is a new platform for our technology. Though of IOT, we can control our daily life work such as home application, control and communication systems, easy communication systems, improve our digital services etc. The Internet of Things (IOT) is joining our daily contents information wisely to the internet to make communication between objects and people and among themselves. In this paper, we show an improved home automation by the help of IOT. For calculating response time of IOT, we need fog computing platform. Fog computing also known as fogging or edge computing which is built by Cisco and it is extended the version of cloud computing through a network. In our proposed system, we use motion sensor, SBC-PT which is a network access component and daily life component in home. We can monitor and control that equipment by the approach of IOT based system. The home automation system uses the portable devices as a user interface. They can connect with home automation network through an internet approach. The user will move straightly with the system via control interface whereas home apparatus are remotely controlled through sensor and server. The home automation system has an additional property that enhances the facet of defense from unauthorized accidents. The communication with the server consents the user to pick out the receivable device. This design proposed an efficient control of home automation system

Automated Identification of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Discriminatory Texts from Issue Comments
In an industry dominated by straight men, many developers representing other
gender identities and sexual orientations often encounter hateful or
discriminatory messages. Such communications pose barriers to participation for
women and LGBTQ+ persons. Due to sheer volume, manual inspection of all
communications for discriminatory communication is infeasible for a large-scale
Free Open-Source Software (FLOSS) community. To address this challenge, this
study aims to develop an automated mechanism to identify Sexual orientation and
Gender identity Discriminatory (SGID) texts from software developers'
communications. On this goal, we trained and evaluated SGID4SE ( Sexual
orientation and Gender Identity Discriminatory text identification for (4)
Software Engineering texts) as a supervised learning-based SGID detection tool.
SGID4SE incorporates six preprocessing steps and ten state-of-the-art
algorithms. SGID4SE implements six different strategies to improve the
performance of the minority class. We empirically evaluated each strategy and
identified an optimum configuration for each algorithm. In our ten-fold
cross-validation-based evaluations, a BERT-based model boosts the best
performance with 85.9% precision, 80.0% recall, and 82.9% F1-Score for the SGID
class. This model achieves 95.7% accuracy and 80.4% Matthews Correlation
Coefficient. Our dataset and tool establish a foundation for further research
in this direction
