    Students’ perception to integrate education 4.0 in Science program

    [EN] This study aims to explore students’ perception of integrating education 4.0 in the Science program. The technology acceptance model was used to determine students’ understanding of integrating education 4.0 focusing on the Science program. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach. The interview was used to collect the data. Five respondents among Science students were interviewed. They were undergraduate students pursue study in a science education program. The finding of the interview result showed that students had positive responses in integrating education 4.0 for technological sustainable development. The results of the study showed that students had a positive understanding of the three aspects namely, readiness in integrating education 4.0 for the Science program, the impact of technology facilities, and enhancing digital skills for employability. We recommend further research to evaluate the preparation or readiness of students to integrate training using technology 4.0.     Exploring Students' Learning Styles in Using Mobile Flipped Classroom

    This study aims to identify students’ learning styles of using mobile flipped classroom approach. The theoretical foundation for this study is based on Grasha-Reichmann learning styles and the flipped design of this study is based on Halili flipped learning 4.0 framework. 52 respondents answered the questionnaire distributed to them. The SPSS software version 20 was utilised to analyse the data and collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (means, standard deviations). This study showed that collaborative learning style recorder higher mean value as compared to others learning styles such as independent, dependent, competitive, avoidant and participative. It was found that the mobile flipped classroom approach in this research is capable of promoting collaborative learning in teaching and learning process. Researchers suggest that further studies should explore other learning style theories, use varieties of technological tools as well as include a larger sample from different institutions

    Density Functional Theory Investigations on the Geometric and Electronic Structures of 4–Azidomethyl–6–Isopropyl–2H–Chromen–2–One

    We have employed first principle Density Functional Theory (DFT) investigations to study the physical and electronic properties of 4–Azidomethyl–6–isopropyl–2H–chromen–2–one, C13H13N3O2. Complete geometry optimization calculations were carried out to find local energy minimum of the molecular system using the B3LYP approach with a variety of basis sets. The optimized geometries were then used to determine the HOMO–LUMO gaps, Mulliken atomic charges, and others. Our calculation results show that the computed geometrical properties of C13H13N3O2 cluster model are in good agreement with the corresponding measured experimental value. The calculated energies obtained are close to each other using the B3LYP density functional method combined with a variety of basis sets. Furthermore, using B3LYP/6–31G** method, the oxygen–attached carbon, C2 atom has the highest positively charge, with the corresponding value of +0.59. For both oxygen atoms (O1 and O2), the calculated charge values obtained are about –0.52 and –0.46, respectively

    Pull-up Counter Device Using Arduino Uno for Fitness Purposes

    A pull-up is a type of upper-body exercise that involves the use of both hands. It works by raising the body's head and shoulders and bending the elbows, and extending the shoulders. It can be performed anywhere and is a great way to tone and expand various muscle groups. This study aims to design a device that can count and track the number of pull-up exercises. Pull-Up Counter Device was developed using the Rapid Prototyping model. The product was evaluated by 30 respondents. The result shows that 83.33% of the users strongly agree that the device can display the correct pull-up record on the LCD, and 50% strongly agree that the device can detect pull-up position correctly

    E-compare of Soccer Tournament Structures

    This paper develops a system integrating the knowledge of statistical modeling and Monte Carlo simulation to evaluate various types of soccer tournament structures. A system called as “E-compare of Soccer Tournament Structures” aims to assist decision makers to choose the competitive soccer design.The system reports various tournaments metrics such as the expected number of goals scored and conceded, the expected number of wins, draws, and losses, and the expected final ranking at the end of the tournament.Based on a large number of simulations using teams participated in the Malaysian soccer super league, our analysis showed that different designs gave different impacts on the final ranking of the teams.Round robin is found to be the best structure in terms of identifying the strongest team to win the league compared to a knockout structure

    Basis Set Effects on the Stabilities and Interaction Energies of Small Amide Molecules Adsorbed on Kaolinite Surface

    Adsorptions of small amide molecules, acetamide (AA) and N-methyl-acetamide (NMA) on the surface of kaolinite are investigated in this study. The focus is on the basis set effects towards the stabilities and the interaction energies of the molecules on the Al–O surface. With a fixed B3LYP functional, we increased the size of the basis sets for the single-point calculations, to find the converged interaction energies and obtain the relative stabilities. We found that, under the direct usage of Pople-type and Dunning’s correlation consistent basis sets, it is not possible to achieve the pattern of convergence for the interaction energies and the relative stabilities. Compared to the complete basis set (CBS) extrapolation scheme, the double zeta basis sets deviated the most, in the range of 21 to 27%, while it is from 1 to 7% for the triple zeta basis sets. Based on the results, we suggest using 6-311++G(2df,2pd) or cc-pVQZ for energy-related quantities. Compared to AA, NMA attached more strongly by 0.5 eV on the surface of Al–O

    Cluster Validity Analysis on Soft Set Based Clustering

    The issue of data uncertainties are very important in categorical data clustering since the boundary between created clusters are very arguable. Therefore the algorithm called Maximum Attribute Relative (MAR) that is based on the attribute relative of soft-set theory was proposed previously. MAR exploiting the data uncertainties in multi-value information system by introducing a series of clustering attribute. The clusters will be form by using this selected clustering attributes. However, clustering algorithm define clusters that are not-known a priori. Hence, the final clusters of data requires some validation techniques. In this paper, the validity of the clusters produced by MAR was evaluated. The two datasets obtained from UCI-ML repository and an examination results obtained from Malaysian Ministry of Education. The results shows that the clusters produced by MAR has objects similarity up to 99%

    Isolation and characterization of a molybdenum-reducing and glyphosate-degrading Klebsiella oxytoca strain Saw-5 in soils from Sarawak

    Bioremediation of pollutants including heavy metals and xenobiotics is an economic and environmentally friendly process. A novel molybdenum-reducing bacterium with the ability to utilize the pesticide glyphosate as a carbon source is reported. The characterization works were carried out utilizing bacterial resting cells in a microplate format. The bacterium reduces molybdate to Mo-blue optimally between pH 6.3 and 6.8 and at 34oC. Glucose was the best electron donor for supporting molybdate reduction followed by lactose, maltose, melibiose, raffinose, d-mannitol, d-xylose, l-rhamnose, l-arabinose, dulcitol, myo-inositol and glycerol in descending order. Other requirements include a phosphate concentration at 5.0 mM and a molybdate concentration between 20 and 30 mM. The molybdenum blue exhibited an absorption spectrum resembling a reduced phospho-molybdate. Molybdenum reduction was inhibited by mercury, silver, cadmium and copper at 2 ppm by 45.5, 26.0, 18.5 and 16.3%, respectively. Biochemical analysis identified the bacterium as Klebsiella oxytoca strain Saw-5. To conclude, the capacity of this bacterium to reduce molybdenum into a less toxic form and to grow on glyphosate is novel and makes the bacterium an important instrument for bioremediation of these pollutants
