    Coconut fibre which is extracted from outer shell of a coconut is a type of natural fibre used as composite board reinforcement in this research. The fibrebinder used in this research was stryrofoam which is a material from polysterene. This research was aimed at finding out the appropriate composition by weight between coconut fibre and polysterene and to find out the physical, mechanical and morphological characteristics of composite board resulted from the engineering process. The construction of composite board was started by cutting the fibres with the length of ≤ 5 mm, then dyeing them into NaOH for 4 hours. After those process, the fibres were dried and weighted. The Styrofoam was dissolved into silane before it was weighted based on its composition. After the coconut fibre and polysterene mixtures were mixed,they were poured into the composite board mold. The benefit of this composite board is that it is more water resistant. The test results for tensile, density, moisture content, and thickness swelling meet the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 03-2105-2006. The flexural strength of composite board which meets the standard is the compositions of 30:70, 40:60, and 50:50, while the compositions of 60:60 and 70:30 do not meet the standard

    Pertumbuhan, Konversi Pakan Dan Sintasan Ikan Gurame (Osphronemus goramy Lac.) Dengan Padat Penebaran Berbeda Dalam Sistem Polikultur Dengan Udang GALAH (Macrobrachium rosenbergii)

    Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perbedaan padat tebar ikan gurame dan padat tebar terbaik dalam sistem polikultur dengan udang galah terhadap laju pertumbuhan berat mutlak, laju pertumbuhan panjang mutlak, laju pertumbuhan spesifik, rasio konversi pakan (FCR) dan sintasan ikan gurame. Penelitian menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 4 kali ulangan, yaitu P1 (10 ekor ikan gurame dan 30 ekor udang galah), P2 (20 ekor ikan gurame dan 20 ekor udang galah), P3 (30 ekor ikan gurame dan 10 ekor udang galah), dan P4 (40 ekor ikan gurame dan 0 ekor udang galah). Pemeliharaan ikan gurame dilakukan selama 60 hari dalam wadah akuarium. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh bahwa perbedaan padat penebaran ikan gurame dalam sistem polikultur dengan udang galah berpengaruh terhadap laju pertumbuhan berat mutlak, laju pertumbuhan panjang mutlak, laju pertumbuhan spesifik, rasio konversi pakan dan sintasan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa laju pertumbuhan berat mutlak ikan gurame berkisar 2,756,63g; laju pertumbuhan panjang mutlak ikan gurame berkisar 1,86-3,45cm; laju pertumbuhan spesifik berkisar 1,81-2,80 %/hari; Rasio konversi pakan (FCR) berkisar 1,54-2,40; dan Sintasan berkisar 66,25-77,50 %. Pengukuran kualitas air diperoleh hasil suhu berkisar antara 24-28ºC, pH berkisar antara 6,5-7 dan oksigen terlarut berkisar antara 3,12-8.09 mg/L

    Marine Product Economy in Terengganu during the Administration of Sultan Muhammad Syah II 1918-1920

    This study aims at identifying the economic development that focused on marine products during the administration of Sultan Muhammad Syah II in Terengganu from 1918-1920. During this period, the state of Terengganu showed an auspicious economic development of seafood. The sea product economy includes dried fish, anchovies, budu, belacan, and pickled fish. Qualitative research methods are used based on primary sources such as annual reports, telegrams, correspondence, memoranda, and official reports obtained from the Terengganu Government Secretary\u27s Office, the Terengganu Badariah Palace Office, the Land and Mines Commissioner\u27s Office, and the British Colonial Office, which are analysed using a historical approach. Secondary sources are also used to strengthen the data and research findings, including books, journals, encyclopedias, and theses. The study\u27s findings show the sea product economy to be the leading economy among the Malay community in Terengganu. Seafood products became an essential source of economic strength for the community and state of Terengganu during the administration of Sultan Muhammad Syah II from 1918-1920. This is because marine products are the main export commodity of Terengganu compared to other export commodities, based on the quantity and value of exports every year. The conclusion from the study explains that, although Sultan Muhammad Syah II ruled Terengganu for a period of fewer than two years, from November 26, 1918, to May 11, 1920, His Majesty Sultan Muhammad Syah II placed great importance on the economic development of the community in improving the standard of living and income of the community, most of whom were involved in the sea product economy. The export commodity of many marine products is to meet the needs of the local and foreign markets. Terengganu\u27s Big Boat for trading activities also boosted the seafood economy in Terengganu. This proves that Terengganu is a state rich in marine resources, which have thereby become the highest export commodity product

    DEFECT INSPECTION SYSTEM FOR SHAPE-BASED MATCHING USING TWO CAMERAS

    This research is regarding the application of a vision algorithm to investigates various approaches for automated inspection in of gluing process using shape-based matching application in order to control the decision making concerning jobs and work pieces recognition that are to be made during system operation in real time. A new supervised defect detection approach to detect a class of defects in gluing application is proposed. Creating of region of interest in important region of object is discussed. Gaussian smoothing features in determining better image processing is proposed. Template matching in differentiates between reference and tested image are proposed. This scheme provides high computational savings and results in high defect detection recognition rate. The defects are broadly classified into three classes: 1) gap defect; 2) bumper defect; 3) bubble defect. A new low-cost solution for gluing inspection is also included in this paper. The defects occur provides with information of height (z-coordinate), length (y-coordinate) and width (x-coordinate). This information gathered from the proposed two camera vision system for conducting 3D transformation

    Plant growth, nutrient content and water use of rubber (Hevea brasiliensis) seedlings grown using root trainers and different irrigation systems

    Rubber seedlings raised in the soil-polybag system experience root coiling and restriction and the overhead sprinkler results in much water wastage. The objective of the study was to determine the influence of root trainers and three irrigation systems on rubber seedlings grown in a peat-based medium. The irrigation systems were the overhead sprinkler (SPR), drip (DRP) and capillary wick (WCK). The fourth treatment was the control (CTRL), which required growing rubber seedlings in conventional soil-polybags that were then irrigated using the wick system. The treatments were compared with one another in terms of their influence on nutrient loss, crop water productivity and water use efficiency, plant growth parameters and plant nutrient content of the rubber seedlings. A field experiment was carried out in a rain shelter for eight months, and data collection was carried out once per month. The experimental layout was the completely randomised block design. The results showed that WCK had the lowest cumulative leachate volume and the least cumulative nutrients leached. Both DRP and WCK had the highest plant growth parameters such as total fresh and dry weight, total leaf area and girth size, water productivity and leaf nutrient content. WCK was the best irrigation system together with the peat-based growing medium for raising rubber nursery seedlings

    Simulation and control of sensory-mode interaction

    Haptics, the sensation of physical touch to the virtual objects, is the most recent enhancement to virtual environment. With haptic simulation, virtual objects with different properties could be created to touch using haptic device. In current medical practice, haptics technology is being used to aid surgeons to perform surgical procedures such as needle insertion. It is vital that the penetration of the needle does not cause injury to the patients. However, the available technology does not address issues such as tissue texture and the depth of penetration. This project is about the simulation of sensory mode interaction of virtual objects of different stiffness and friction using PHANToM Haptic device. The penetration depth and force exerted into the objects should be within limit to avoid any deformity to the objects. PID controller is incorporated into the system to eliminate steady state errors as well as to ensure better transient response. To conduct the specified work, MATLAB software was used. Experimental results on the sensory mode interaction have proven the ability of the system to touch the objects within specified object limits. Simulated results on the system response have also shown the capability of the controller to provide fast and accurate response of the haptic devic

    Kajian ini berkaitan dengan penelitian bagaimana untuk menerapkan identiti senibina kepada bangunan pencakar langit. Kajian ini diteliti kerana ingin melihat bagaimana cara pengadaptasian sesuatu identiti senibina setempat yang boleh diadaptasikan kepada bangunan tinggi. Pelbagai isu timbul kebelakangan ini dimana bangunan tinggi di Malaysia terutamanya belum menampakkan satu identiti yang padu untuk dijadikan kaedah atau instrumen bagi pengamal senibina di Malaysia. Kajian Kes dilakukan keatas cara arkitek terdahulu seperti Kenzo Tange mengambil pendekatan terhadap senibina tradisional Jepun kedalam senibina bangunan pada zamannya dengan berjaya. Kajian ini juga melihat beberapa contoh bangunan di Malaysia yang menggunakan unsur- unsur metafora dan 'metabolism' melalui objek objek yang berkait dengan nasionalisma. Mengetahui ciri- ciri yang terdapat pada identiti senibina Malaysia dan Rumah Melayu yang telah mencapai kesempurnaan pada senibina setempat mungkin menjadi sumber terbaik bagi kita dalam mendapatkan kaedah penerapan yang seharusnya dipraktikkan di Malaysia. Diaharap kajian ini akan membantu serba sedikit memberi gambaran kepada projek studio senibina 2 bagi projek bangunan pencakar langit serta sedikit maklumat bagi pengamal senibina dan ahli pengkaji mengetahui bagaimana untuk kita mengadaptasikan identiti senibina pada sesebuah bangunan tinggi
