    The peculiarities of the temperature and concentration characteristics of resistivity and thermopower of V1-xTixFeSb semiconductor solid solution were investigated in the temperature and concentration ranges of T = 4.2 -400 K and Ті  ≈ 9.5·1019–3.6·1021 см-3 (х = 0.005 - 0.20), respectively. The existence of previously unknown mechanism for the generation of structural defects with donor nature which determined the conduction of n-VFeSb and V1-xTixFeSb was established. The acceptor type of structural defects generated in V1-xTixFeSb by substitution of V atoms by Ti ones was confirmed.Досліджено особливості температурних та концентраційних характеристик питомого електроопору та коефіцієнта термо-ерс напівпровідникового твердого розчину V1-xTixFeSb у діапазонах температур та концентрацій: Т = 4,2 – 400 К та Ті  ≈ 9.5·1019–3,6·1021 см-3 (х = 0,005–0,20). Встановлено існування невідомого раніше механізму генерування структурних дефектів донорної природи, які визначають провідність n-VFeSb та V1-xTixFeSb. Підтверджено акцепторну природу структурних дефектів, генерованих у V1-xTixFeSb, при заміщенні V атомами Ті

    The Occupational Wellbeing of People Experiencing Homelessness

    This paper reports findings of a study that utilised an occupational perspective to explore how wellbeing was achieved and sustained by the occupations of people experiencing homelessness in Australia. Thirty three in-depth qualitative interviews were conducted with homeless individuals in a regional city in Australia. Data from the interviews were thematically analysed to understand the relationship between wellbeing, as defined by the individual, and the occupations engaged in by people experiencing homelessness. The findings are reported here as three collective narratives that illustrate the experiences of diverse groups within the homelessness population explored in this study. The study demonstrates how occupations go beyond the individual experience and choice; to explore the social and cultural value of occupations as a means to wellbeing. The findings are discussed in relation to three key themes that emerged from the study: survival, self-identity and social connectedness. These three interconnected concepts complement the existing occupational science literature, and offer a preliminary framework for understanding and improving wellbeing for disadvantaged and marginalised people where occupations are restricted by societal forces. The findings support the urgent need to redirect services to support occupational opportunities that are socially and culturally valued and enhance survival, self-identity and connectedness of homeless people

    The paper presents mathematical modelling of determining the power output over the rolling materials in the gap rotating rollers taking into account the rheological parameters of the final product. Determination of these parameters will reduce energy consumption, increase efficiency and reduce loss of material during production. This solution, suggested in the article, allows determination of the overall quality of the rolled product layer. Analysis of experimental results revealed that the main features of the machine provide the necessary stable shape products and provide good rheological parameters of these products. Rheological testing indicators allow for a rational approach to a decision to operate a rolling process. At the same time they improve quality control methods and will have an impact on the design parameters of rollers and modes of chambers. The proposed method not only allows obtaining a predetermined pressure, but also allows defining the optimal shape of the gap, wherein the pressure gradient is constant.W artykule przedstawiono modelowanie matematyczne wyznaczania mocy użytecznej podczas walcowania surowców w szczelinie rolek obrotowych z uwzględnieniem parametrów reologicznych produktu końcowego. Wyznaczenie tych parametrów pozwoli na zmniejszenie zużycia energii, zwiększenie wydajności oraz zmniejszenie strat surowców w czasie produkcji. Zastosowanie tego rozwiązania zaproponowanego w artykule pozwala na określenie ogólnej jakości zwiniętej warstwy produktu. Analiza wyników eksperymentalnych pozwoliła stwierdzić, że główne cechy maszyny, zapewniają niezbędny stabilny kształt produktów i zapewniają dobre parametry reologiczne tych produktów. Testowanie wskaźników reologicznych pozwalają na racjonalne podejście do decyzji o prowadzeniu procesu walcowania. Jednocześnie poprawią sposoby kontroli jakości i będą miały wpływ na parametry konstrukcji trybów rolek i komór roboczych. Proponowany sposób nie tylko pozwala na uzyskanie określonego ciśnienia, a również pozwolą na określenie optymalnego kształtu szczeliny, w którym gradient ciśnienia jest stały

    Evaluation of ensemble precipitation forecasts generated through post-processing in a Canadian catchment

    Flooding in Canada is often caused by heavy rainfall during the snowmelt period. Hydrologic forecast centers rely on precipitation forecasts obtained from numerical weather prediction (NWP) models to enforce hydrological models for streamflow forecasting. The uncertainties in raw quantitative precipitation forecasts (QPFs) are enhanced by physiography and orography effects over a diverse landscape, particularly in the western catchments of Canada. A Bayesian post-processing approach called rainfall post-processing (RPP), developed in Australia (Robertson et al., 2013; Shrestha et al., 2015), has been applied to assess its forecast performance in a Canadian catchment. Raw QPFs obtained from two sources, Global Ensemble Forecasting System (GEFS) Reforecast 2 project, from the National Centers for Environmental Prediction, and Global Deterministic Forecast System (GDPS), from Environment and Climate Change Canada, are used in this study. The study period from January 2013 to December 2015 covered a major flood event in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Post-processed results show that the RPP is able to remove the bias and reduce the errors of both GEFS and GDPS forecasts. Ensembles generated from the RPP reliably quantify the forecast uncertainty

    Investigation of structural, energy state and kinetic characteristics of RNiSb semiconductor (R = Gd, Lu)

    The features of structural, energy state and kinetic characteristics of the p-GdNiSb and p-LuNiSb semiconductors were investigated in the temperature range T = 4.2-400 K. As example, in p-LuNiSb, the generating of structural acceptor defects as a result of the emergence of vacancies upto 6 % in the 4c positions of Ni (3d84s2) atoms and partial, up to 1.35 %, substitution of Ni (4c) atoms by Lu (5d16s2) ones was shown.
