Tropical Markov dynamics and Cayley cubic
We study the tropical version of Markov dynamics on the Cayley cubic,
introduced by V.E. Adler and one of the authors. We show that this action is
semi-conjugated to the standard action of on a torus, and
thus is ergodic with the Lyapunov exponent and entropy given by the logarithm

Strip-searching for nationality documents
Section 51 of the UK’s Immigration Act 2016 introduced a new power to conduct strip-searches for nationality documents on those held in immigration detention or in prisons. Unlike in previous case law, the goal of this new power appears to be administrative efficiency, rather than safety and security. This article describes the wider legal context of the measure and analyses it from a human rights perspective. This includes an in-depth examination of the administrative justification for this new power as well as a critical look at some of the issues with strip-searching in practice
Combustion of hydrogen-air jets in local chemical equilibrium: A guide to the CHARNAL computer program
A guide to a computer program, written in FORTRAN 4, for predicting the flow properties of turbulent mixing with combustion of a circular jet of hydrogen into a co-flowing stream of air is presented. The program, which is based upon the Imperial College group's PASSA series, solves differential equations for diffusion and dissipation of turbulent kinetic energy and also of the R.M.S. fluctuation of hydrogen concentration. The effective turbulent viscosity for use in the shear stress equation is computed. Chemical equilibrium is assumed throughout the flow

Resolution limits of quantum ghost imaging
Quantum ghost imaging uses photon pairs produced from parametric downconversion to enable an alternative method of image acquisition. Information from either one of the photons does not yield an image, but an image can be obtained by harnessing the correlations between them. Here we present an examination of the resolution limits of such ghost imaging systems. In both conventional imaging and quantum ghost imaging the resolution of the image is limited by the point-spread function of the optics associated with the spatially resolving detector. However, whereas in conventional imaging systems the resolution is limited only by this point spread function, in ghost imaging we show that the resolution can be further degraded by reducing the strength of the spatial correlations inherent in the downconversion process
