    Influência do hipoclorito de sódio como fungicida na absorção de cálcio e silício pela soja

    O objetivo da pesquisa foi verificar a ação do hipoclorito de sódio (NaOCl) no combate ao oídio na soja, quando aplicado só ou associado ao uso de fungicida, e a possível influência na absorção de cálcio e silício pela soja. Foram realizadas oito aplicações de NaOCl em parcelas que receberam apenas o sanitizante, com concentrações de 0,2%, 0,4% e 0,6%, parcelas que receberam essas mesmas concentrações e duas aplicações de fungicida e uma parcela controle. Não foram observadas diferenças estatísticas significativas no controle do fungo quando comparados os tratamentos iguais, com e sem fungicida. O hipoclorito de sódio apresentou eficiência semelhante ao fungicida nos parâmetros dessa pesquisa. Não houve redução quantitativa na concentração de cálcio. O tratamento fungicida associado à solução com 0,6% de hipoclorito de sódio proporcionou aumento na concentração de silício na soja. ______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThe aim of this research was to verify the action of sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) in the control of powdery mildew in soybean plants applied alone or mixed to a fungicide and possible influence in the absorption of calcium and silicon. NaOCl was applied eight times in parcels that received the product in concentrations of 0.2; 0.4 and 0.6%, alone, and in parcels associated with fungicide, in only two applications. It was not observed statistical differences among treatments in the comparison of the development of the disease in the parcels treated with NaOCl alone, fungicide and NaOCl mixed to a fungicide. There was not a reduction in the concentration of calcium. The association of hypochlorite of sodium at 0,6% and fungicide resulted in an increase in soybean silicon concentration

    Study of matrix effect in determination of metals in re-refined basic oils by energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence - edx

    In this article, the results of the study of the matrix effect in the determination of metals calcium, chromium, iron, nickel, copper, zinc, molybdenum, cadmium, barium and lead in base oil using Energy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence (EDX) are presented. Sensitivities obtained for each calibration curve were evaluated where calcium, chromium, copper, cadmium, barium and lead had the lowest sensitivities. In the case of cadmium, this parameter was lagging and the studies were not carried forward. The curves of the other metals in different base oils were evaluated for linearity. The elements chromium, copper, molybdenum and lead showed linearity problems in some cases. Therefore, curves in different base oils showed distinct mathematical behavior where the matrix effect was confirmed. The other curves were evaluated and existence of the matrix effect attributed to interference of C / H ratio was confirmed in the quantification of all elements. Metals iron, nickel and zinc exhibited the highest sensitivity and determination coefficients, showing that the method has application potential

    The use of veterinary drugs in food producing animals may result in the presence of residues in foods, including milk and eggs. Immunoassay or microbiological tests are used to screen for residues, but chromatographic methods are needed to confirm positive results. In most methods, the sample is extracted with acetonitrile, submitted to clean up or directly analyzed by LC-MS/MS. Results of the Brazilian governmental monitoring programs from 2006 to 2011 have shown that the antiparasitic ivermectin was the drug most frequently found in milk. Residues in eggs are only monitored by one of the programs, and few studies have reported the incidence of veterinary drugs in this matrix in Brazil

    Carcass characteristics and fatty acid profile of Santa Inês lamb fed banana leftovers

    The use of new feed resources, particularly local agroindustrial byproducts, such as banana, may be an option for replacing those traditionally used for sheep feed to reduce production costs. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the dietary effects of replacing corn bran with banana leftovers on performance, carcass, non-carcass components, meat traits, and fatty acid profile of Santa Inês lambs. Twenty-four Santa Inês female lambs with an average weight of 23.73 kg were fed diets containing 60 % coast cross hay and 40 % concentrate (30 % corn bran and 10 % soybean meal). Treatments consisted of corn bran replaced by banana leftovers at rates of 0, 25, 50, and 75 % on a dry matter basis. The experiment lasted 120 days. Animals were slaughtered and carcasses and non-carcass components were evaluated. The half-carcasses were weighed and sectioned into commercial cuts. The 12th and 13th ribs were dissected to collect bones, muscle and fat proportions. Cooking loss, color, shear force and sarcomere length were measured. Fatty acid profiles were obtained by gas chromatography. Hot and cold carcass weight, leg, neck, lung, loin eye area, fat thickness, initial sample weight of the 12th and 13th ribs, fat and bone, presented a negative linear effect of banana leftovers replacing corn in the diet. Loin, fat thickness, cooking loss and carcass redness showed a negative quadratic effect, while full and empty abomasum, full omasum, sarcomere length and yellowness presented a positive quadratic effect. Replacement of up to 75 % of corn bran by banana leftovers did not interfere in the intake, performance, meat traits and the fatty acid profile of lambs. The use of banana leftovers may be an alternative for reducing animal production costs

    Feeding effects of cottonseed and its co-products on the meat proteome from ram lambs

    Gossypol easily pairs with lysine side chains and enzymes involved in the cellular growth process. The effect of gossypol (a compound present in cotton co-products) in ruminant metabolism and meat quality is not yet clear. This study was undertaken in order to evaluate the effects of cotton co-products in lamb muscle proteome. Twenty-four Santa Inês ram lambs, 5-months old (20.6 ± 1.9 kg), were randomly assigned to four treatments: control (without cottonseed), whole cottonseed, cottonseed meal and high oil cottonseed meal. At 95 days into the experiment, lambs were slaughtered and samples from Longissimus dorsi were collected. Proteins were extracted and analyzed by 2-D electrophoresis. Spots showing a significant effect from the treatment (the “treatment effect”) and present in more than 90 % of the samples were identified using mass spectrometry. Cotton co-products decreased the abundance of aldehyde and malate dehydrogenases, creatine kinase M-type and Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) synthase. They also increased four proteins related to muscle contraction. Thus, feeding cotton co-products to lambs changed the abundance of important muscle proteins. A cotton co-product diet induced a negative impact on the energy supply of muscle cells and, consequently, the abundance of ATP dependent proteins (contractile apparatus) increased, probably in order to offset and maintain muscle function. These proteomic changes can promote our understanding of alterations in the sensorial properties of meat due to cotton co-product diets in further investigations

    Alimentação popular em São Paulo (1920 a 1950): políticas públicas, discursos técnicos e práticas profissionais

    This article discusses how the concept of lower-class eating habits came about and developed in the intellectual circles of São Paulo during the first half of the 20th century. It starts by reconstructing the elements of the debate around the income and ignorance of the underprivileged as the main reasons behind their bad eating habits. Then, it looks at the focal points for interventions and public policies proposed by the government to deal with the problem thus identified, namely: training methods to produce sanitation counselors capable of offering dietary guidance as well; popular educational campaigns and new learning sites in addition to schools (e.g. healthcare centers and households); lunch and other means of offering food at schools; and diagnostic studies about food intake and eating habits among laborers. Because they were translated into technical and scientific language, the proposals and policies implemented in São Paulo left traces in a variety of supporting documents and media (photographs, primers, posters, inquiry notebooks, and academic literature).O artigo discute a construção da idéia de alimentação popular nos meios intelectuais em São Paulo, na primeira metade do século XX. Para isso, reconstitui, como motivos da má alimentação, elementos do debate em torno da renda e da ignorância dos mais pobres. Identificado o problema, as propostas de intervenção e as políticas públicas concentraram-se em alguns setores, abordados neste trabalho: métodos para a formação de educadores sanitários aptos a atuar também na educação alimentar; campanhas de instrução popular e criação de novos lugares de aprendizado (além das escolas, os centros de saúde e os lares); merenda escolar e outras alternativas de alimentação nas escolas; e diagnósticos referentes ao conteúdo e à forma da alimentação dos operários.
