Nas últimas décadas o homem passou a ser um dos principais agentes modeladores do relevo urbano. Como agente produtor ou intensificador da paisagem ele a transforma e interfere nos processos naturais de esculturação do relevo. O objetivo é analisar impactos ambientais decorrentes das ocupações de encostas das Vilas Bandeirantes I, II e III em Teresina, Piauí. Resultados demonstram que esta ocupação levou à formação de sulcos e voçorocas e na presença de diferentes tipos de depósitos tecnógenos
Ultrasonography of the stomach and small intestine in healthy Mangalarga Marchador horses from birth to 5 years of age
ABSTRACT The aim of the study was to describe location, sonographic characteristics and measures of the stomach and small intestine of equines at different ages. Abdominal ultrasonography was performed on 88 healthy equines of either sex, aged 1, 7 and 15 days, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 months and 1, 3 and 5 years, with 20 animals per group. Location, characteristics and measurements of stomach, duodenum and jejunum were evaluated. Descriptive statistics were performed for each measurement and the percentile for each age was analyzed. The work showed the growth and characteristics of the organs evaluated over time. Adult animals showed a minimum of 4 duodenal movements per minute. It was possible to locate the organs evaluated in all animals. The detailed ultrasound examination of these organs allowed gathering information that could be used to assist in the care of future patients
Scaling anomaly in cosmic string background
We show that the classical scale symmetry of a particle moving in cosmic
string background is broken upon inequivalent quantization of the classical
system, leading to anomaly. The consequence of this anomaly is the formation of
single bound state in the coupling interval \gamma\in(-1,1). The inequivalent
quantization is characterized by a 1-parameter family of self-adjoint extension
parameter \omega. It has been conjectured that the formation of loosely bound
state in cosmic string background may lead to the so called anomalous
scattering cross section for the particles, which is usually seen in molecular

Cosmology and fundamental physics with the ELT-ANDES spectrograph
State-of-the-art 19th century spectroscopy led to the discovery of quantum mechanics, and 20th century spectroscopy led to the confirmation of quantum electrodynamics. State-of-the-art 21st century astrophysical spectrographs, especially ANDES at ESO’s ELT, have another opportunity to play a key role in the search for, and characterization of, the new physics which is known to be out there, waiting to be discovered. We rely on detailed simulations and forecast techniques to discuss four important examples of this point: big bang nucleosynthesis, the evolution of the cosmic microwave background temperature, tests of the universality of physical laws, and a real-time model-independent mapping of the expansion history of the universe (also known as the redshift drift). The last two are among the flagship science drivers for the ELT. We also highlight what is required for the ESO community to be able to play a meaningful role in 2030s fundamental cosmology and show that, even if ANDES only provides null results, such ‘minimum guaranteed science’ will be in the form of constraints on key cosmological paradigms: these are independent from, and can be competitive with, those obtained from traditional cosmological probes

Dengue transcends international borders and can be found in tropical and subtropical
regions around the world, predominantly in urban and semi-urban areas. A
model for dengue disease transmission, composed by mutually-exclusive compartments
representing the human and vector dynamics, is presented in this study. The
data is from Madeira, a Portuguese island, where an unprecedented outbreak was
detected on October 2012. The aim of this work is to simulate the repercussions of
the control measures in the fight of the disease
