NDM-555: EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATIONS OF LARGE SCALE TLD-STRUCTURE INTERACTION VIA REAL-TIME HYBRID SIMULATION
In real-time hybrid simulation (RTHS), as a cost-effective experimental testing technique, computer simulations are coupled with physical testing. RTHS divides the test structure into analytical and experimental substructures, and synchronizes them as the equations of motion are being solved in real-time. When conducted properly, the load-rate dependent characteristics of the test structure could be accurately captured by the RTHS. This paper presents real-time hybrid simulation of a three story structure equipped with a large scale tuned liquid damper (TLD) using a recently developed computational/control platform at University of Toronto. TLDs are cost effective and low maintenance vibration absorbers that can be utilized to suppress structural vibrations under dynamic excitation. They dampen energy through liquid boundary layer friction, the free surface contamination, and wave breaking. However, highly nonlinear and velocity dependent behaviour of these devices makes it difficult to establish representative analytical models for TLDs that are accurate for a wide range of operation. In this study, by employing RTHS the TLD will be tested physically as the experimental substructure and the remaining structure will be modeled analytically as the analytical substructure. This will facilitate the investigation of TLD-structure interaction for a wide range of influential parameters while using a user-programmable computational/control platform to carry out the real-time hybrid simulations
Reflection of Hemingway and Fitzgeraldâs Health Problems in Their Literary Heritages
This paper will demonstrate how Ernest Hemingway and F. Scot Fitzgeraldâs experience with their own health problems, influence on their life and writing. Both of them consumed alcohol a lot and they took several physical problems from drinking. While they were fighting with different illnesses and problems, they managed their creative writings forward to illness and death. From the First World War; Hemingway had physical and emotional injuries that according to them wrote his A Farewell to Arms. As F.Scot Fitzgeraldâs wife, Zelda had mental problem, that time physical penance and healthcare were main themes in his writing

The effects of breastfeeding position and the change in nutritional habit on infantile colic: A randomized clinical trial
Aims: We decided to investigate the role of non-pharmacological method of breastfeeding and maternal nutrition in the treatment of infantile colic in order to reduce the role of pharmacological method.
Materials and Methods: This study was a double-blinded clinical trial study on 62 infants less than 4 months of age referred to Emergency ward of Mofid Hospital in 2014. The infants were randomly divided into two groups that one group received routine colic treatment without any intervention (as the control group) and the other group received hypoallergenic lactation and also were trained on how to breastfeed appropriately. On the second and tenth days, all mothers were contacted and the duration of crying and restlessness of the infant was assessed.
Results: The severity of colic significantly lower in intervention group as compared to control group on the second and tenth days of intervention. In this regard, the mean change in severity of colic at the end of assessment was 2.4 ± 2.2 in intervention group and 0.7 ± 1.5 in control group (p < 0.001). The mean change in colic intensity in subgroups with complete, partial and low adherence was 4.1 ± 2.4, 2.5 ± 1.6, and 0.2 ± 1.6 respectively indicating a significant difference (p < 0.001).
Conclusion: Comprehensive mothers' training on how to breastfeed and determine the best breastfeeding position along with the change in nutritional habit can significantly reduce colic severity.

âThis exploratory research aims to study academic and social integration of teenagers of Iranian origin recently arrived in QuĂ©bec. It attempts to identify conflicts of values between parents and these teenagers and to discover identity strategies of these teenagers vis-a-vis these conflicts. It also tries to identify the strategies used by these teenagers to attain social and academic integration in school. Moreover, we try to understand the perception of the parents of these teenagers towards these issues. In this study, social integration is mainly approached with respect to strategies of acculturation by conducting qualitative interviews with fourteen adolescents ages 13-18 and their parents (nine).
The analysis of gathered data shows that these young people adapt easily to their new environment while preserving their attachment to their culture of origin. Their life choices are influenced essentially by their family environment. The influence of their friends, generally from diverse origins, mainly affects their leisure and use of free time activities. They believe in the Iranian traditional values while trying to be independent and free with a modern lifestyle, which can lead to potential conflicts with their parents. The preferred identity strategies of these teenagers are primarily those of complex coherence or coherence by moderation of the conflicts of codes. These young people have a positive opinion about their studies and do not seem to feel any conflict in their academic environment.
In short, we can state that Iranian youth, recently arrived in Quebec, adapts relatively easily to their new living environment while conserving their attachment to their culture of origin. This enables us to conclude that their process of integration has little similarities with the alienation of Moslem youth often mentioned and described in the international and national literature.

Predicting the weld zones size in FSSW of 304L stainless steel plates by mathematical model based on RSM
The 300 series austenitic stainless steels are widely used in industries due to their special properties. High heat in fusion welding reduces the properties of these steels and causes many problems. Therefore, stir friction spot welding, which is a type of solid state welding, is useful and widely used in high-tech industries. In this paper, a 3D dynamic explicit finite element model is developed to simulate the friction stir spot welding of 304L stainless steel plates. Using this model, the temperature distribution and the size of weld zones (thickness of weld zones) are obtained. Then, by experimental study, the results of the temperature and the size of weld zones were obtained to be a criterion for comparing and validating the numerical results. Microstructure and hardness of these zones are determined experimentally. Finally, a mathematical model based on the response surface methodology is proposed to predict the size of weld zones. Good agreement between the numerical results that are produced by the finite element simulation, the proposed model and the experimental data is observed. The results show the maximum temperature level appears in the stir zone and it reduces by moving from the weld center. Also, by increasing the rotational speed, plunging depth and dwell time of the tool, the size of both the stir zone and the heat affected zone increase to a peak value and then the size of the latter zone decreases
