Not only have microbial communities in the urinary tract been implicated in the maintenance of health but alterations in their composition have also been associated with different urinary pathologies, such as urinary tract infections (UTI). Therefore, the study of the urinary microbiome in healthy individuals, as well as its involvement in disease through the proliferation of opportunistic pathogens, could open a potential field of study, leading to new insights into prevention, diagnosis and treatment strategies for urinary pathologies.     Spoken dialog systems based on online generated stochastic finite-state transducers

DOI 10.1016/j.specom.2016.07.011.In this paper, we present an approach for the development of spoken dialog systems based on the statistical modelization of the dialog manager. This work focuses on three points: the modelization of the dialog manager using Stochastic Finite-State Transducers, an unsupervised way to generate training corpora, and a mechanism to address the problem of coverage that is based on the online generation of synthetic dialogs. Our proposal has been developed and applied to a sport facilities booking task at the university. We present experimentation evaluating the system behavior on a set of dialogs that was acquired using the Wizard of Oz technique as well as experimentation with real users. The experimentation shows that the method proposed to increase the coverage of the Dialog System was useful to find new valid paths in the model to achieve the user goals, providing good results with real users. © 2016 Elsevier B.V.     Short-term effects of hyaluronic acid on the subgingival microbiome in peri-implantitis: A randomized controlled clinical trial

Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted in peri-implantitis patients. Swabs containing the samples were collected both at baseline and after 45 days of treatment. 16S rRNA sequencing techniques were used to investigate the effect of hyaluronic acid gel on the subgingival microbiome. Results: 108 samples of 54 patients were analyzed at baseline and after follow-up at 45 days. Three strata with different microbial composition were obtained in the samples at baseline, representing three main microbial consortia associated with peri-implantitis. Stratum 1 did not show any difference for any variable after treatment with hyaluronic acid, whereas in stratum 2, Streptococcus, Veillonella, Rothia and Granulicatella did decrease (p<0.05). Similarly, Prevotella and Campylobacter (p< 0.05) decreased in stratum 3 after treatment with hyaluronic acid. Microbial diversity was found to be decreased in stratum 3 (p<0.05) after treatment with hyaluronic acid compared to the control group, in which an increase was found (p<0.05). Conclusions: Hyaluronic acid reduced the relative abundance of peri-implantitis-related microorganisms, especially the early colonizing bacteria, suggesting a specific action during the first stages in the development of the disease. Hyaluronic acid did not alter relative abundances of non-oral genera.     Comparison of Different Finite Element Models for the Transient Dynamic Analysis of Laminated Glass for Structural Applications

    Commercial laminated glass is usually composed of two glass layers and an interlayer of PVB. The viscoelastic behaviour of the PVB layer has to be taken into account when dealing with dynamic loads. This paper shows different Finite Element (FE) models developed to characterize laminated glass. Results are contrasted with data from different reference test cases. First, a quasi-static test is reproduced with a 2d model through a transient analysis. In addition, flexural modes of vibration in a free-free test configuration have been analysed using 2d as well as 3d FE models. Apart from using transient analysis in order to simulate the dynamic behaviour of laminated glass, an iterative procedure has been employed which permits to identify the correct value of the shear modulus of the PVB layer for each mode in an eigenvalue analysis

    Targeting ribosomal G-quadruplexes with naphthalene-diimides as RNA polymerase I inhibitors for colorectal cancer treatment

    Effectiveness of Unihemispheric Concurrent Dual-Site Stimulation over M1 and Dorsolateral Prefrontal Cortex Stimulation on Pain Processing: A Triple Blind Cross-Over Control Trial.

    Background: Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) of the motor cortex (M1) produces short-term inhibition of pain. Unihemispheric concurrent dual-site tDCS (UHCDS-tDCS) over the M1 and dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) has greater effects on cortical excitability than when applied alone, although its effect on pain is unknown. The aim of this study was to test if anodal UHCDS-tDCS over the M1 and DLPFC in healthy participants could potentiate conditioned pain modulation (CPM) and diminish pain temporal summation (TS). Methods: Thirty participants were randomized to receive a sequence of UHCDS-tDCS, M1-tDCS and sham-tDCS. A 20 min 0.1 mA/cm2 anodal or sham-tDCS intervention was applied to each participant during three test sessions, according to a triple-blind cross-over trial design. For the assessment of pain processing before and after tDCS intervention, the following tests were performed: tourniquet conditioned pain modulation (CPM), pressure pain temporal summation (TS), pressure pain thresholds (PPTs), pressure pain tolerance, mechanosensitivity and cold hyperalgesia. Motor function before and after tDCS intervention was assessed with a dynamometer to measure maximal isometric grip strength. Results: No statistically significant differences were found between groups for CPM, pressure pain TS, PPT, pressure pain tolerance, neural mechanosensitivity, cold hyperalgesia or grip strength (p > 0.05). Conclusions: Neither UHCDS-tDCS nor M1-tDCS facilitated CPM or inhibited TS in healthy subjects following one intervention session.post-print3107 K

    Introducción: El género se construye culturalmente a través de la socialización, aplicar una metodología teórico-vivencial y analítica hará reconocer al alumnado con mayor eficacia los procesos interiorizados Objetivos: Introducir una metodología teórico-vivencial en asignaturas del Departamento de Enfermería relacionadas con el Género, Profundizar en una metodología de análisis del discurso social que nos envuelve (cine, publicidad, canciones…), Evaluar el impacto de estas metodologías en la consecución de las competencias por parte del alumnado: conocimientos, habilidades y actitudes. Metodología: Cualitativa. Unidad de observación: -274 Alumnado matriculado en “Género y Salud”. Unidades de análisis: proceso enseñanzaaprendizaje, género, salud. Análisis de las memorias del alumnado de los seminarios teóricovivenciales. Resultados: El alumnado se “da cuenta”, toma conciencia, empieza a prestar atención y mirar de forma diferente, empieza a cambiar actitudes y comportamientos. Conclusiones: Trabajar con una metodología vivencial y de análisis de discurso en género, permite la toma de conciencia, la deconstrucción y la posibilidad de cambiar comportamientos y actitudes, lo que supone un primer paso para avanzar en igualdad, por tanto promover salud y cuidados saludables y formar futuros y futuras profesionales más sanos/as e igualitarios/as
