    USING AHP APPROACH, EVALUATION OF QUALITY-A CASE STUDY WITH RESPECT TO A WASHING MACHINE COMPANY

    ABSTRACT Supplier Evaluation is performed by companies to continuously improve quality, to mitigate risks, to reduce costs or to improve performance. Thus, it forms an important and integral function that a company carries out to remain competitive in a given market. This paper attempts to propose a model that can assist a Washing Machine Company to evaluate the quality aspect of its suppliers. This model is based on the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) approach which follows the principle of Linear Weighing Model. This paper is an attempt to give a variation to the traditional and a very common method that is widely used in many companies to evaluate the quality aspect -the quality history which is either about the percentage or parts per million of non-conformance components supplied. So this paper suggests that along with the past quality history other parameters can also largely help in supplier evaluation and so this work has tried to identify the important criteria that may enable the company to not just evaluate the suppliers' performance but also to concentrate in those areas where improvements may be required. It also tries to exhibit how a multi criteria decision making method can ease the work of a Vendor Management or a Quality Department in evaluating the quality aspect of their suppliers

    Development and In vitro Evaluation of Betahistine Adhesive-Type Transdermal Delivery System

    Purpose: To develop a transdermal betahistine (BTH) delivery system using different pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) including acrylics, polyisobutylene and styrenic rubber solution.Methods: Formulations were prepared by solvent casting and adhesive transfer method. PSAs - acrylate vinylacetate (AVA), hydrophilic acrylate (HA), acrylic non-curing (ANC), polyisobutylene (PIB), and tackified styrenic rubber solution (TSR) - were evaluated for their suitability in terms of miscibility, maximum drug loading, effect on tack property and in vitro permeation through excised guinea pig skin. Furthermore, one of the PSAs was tested in relation to effect of penetration enhancers on tack property, in vitro permeation, in vivo patch adhesion performance and stability.Results: Only formulations prepared with AVA and HA were stable. Increased drug loading in these PSAs significantly reduced tack. In vitro permeation data across guinea pig skin demonstrated that BTH flux from from the formulation containing HA (F1) was significantly (p < 0.001) higher than that containing AVA (F2). Formulations containing 2 % enhancer showed good tack. Specifically, the formulation containing 2 % oleic acid as enhancer not only showed the highest permeation but also good tack property, non-irritancy for up to 36 h and stability under accelerated conditions.Conclusion: The formulation containing HA as the PSA and 2 % oleic acid as enhancer demonstrated a good potential for further development to an adhesive-type transdermal delivery system for BTH.Keywords: Meniere’s syndrome, Transdermal delivery, Betahistine, Pressure-sensitive adhesives, Penetration enhancersTropical Journal of Pharmaceutical Research December 2010; 9 (6): 516-52

    Mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is rapidly deployable, self configuring network able to communicate with each other without the aid of any centralized system. There is no need for existing infrastructure base network. In MANET Wireless medium is radio frequencies and nodes are mobile, topology can be very dynamically. Nodes must be able to relay traffic since communicating nodes might be out of range. A MANET can be a standalone network or it can be connected to external networks like internet. Multihop operation of MANET requires a routing mechanism designed for mobile nodes are internet access mechanisms, self configuring networks requires an address allocation mechanism, mechanism to detect and act on, merging of existing networks and security mechanisms. As we know that there is no any centralized system so routing is done by node itself. Due to its mobility and self routing capability nature, there are many weaknesses in its security

    Effect of different shading intensities on growth and yield of cherry tomato

    Cherry tomato (Solanum lycopersicon var cerasiforme) is small size fruits, with a bright red colour resembling to cherry and becoming popular in the retail chains which are marketed at a premium price. The field experiment was conducted to study the effect of different (35, 50 and 75 per cent) shading intensities on growth and yield (qha-1 ) of cherry tomato. Significantly maximum yield was recorded in 35 per cent shading intensity and genotype Kalash Seeds Product (KSP)-113 (579.44 and 503.88 q ha-1 , respectively). Among the different shading intensities and genotypes, maximum plant height was observed in 75 per cent shading intensity and genotype KSP -113 at 30 days interval (74.70 and 60.95 cm, respectively). The minimum days to 50% flowering of cherry tomato were observed in cherry tomatoes grown under 35 per cent shading intensity (45.00 days) as compared to other shading intensities while minimum days to 50% flowering were observed in genotype KSP-113 (44.00 days). The maximum length of the cluster (9.58 cm), the weight of cluster (27.67 g), number of fruits per cluster (9.42) and number of pickings (11.67) were observed in 35 per cent shading intensities and in genotype KSP-113. The cultivation of KSP-113 genotype under 35 per cent shading intensity was found to be most sustainable for improving growth and yield of cherry tomato during the summer season

    Modeling and gPROMS based simulation of adsorption process for the removal of Cu (II) from aqueous wastewater

    40-46The present work studies the performance of Indion 730 (Strong acid) ion exchange resin for the removal of Cu (II). The modeling and gPROMS based simulation is used to study the sorption capacity, equilibrium, and performances of Indion 730 ion exchange resin. The extraction effectiveness of the resin is studied by using breakthrough curves. The experimental and simulation results were compared. A numerical model is proposed for the investigation of the ion exchange phenomenon using gPROMS using various optimized parameters like flow rate, bed height, and initial concentration of wastewater containing Cu (II) heavy metal ion in the column. For instance, the effects of flow rate, bed height, and inlet concentration of heavy metal on a breakthrough curve are investigated in depth. The results illustrate that the predicted theoretical breakthrough curves show analogous patterns with the corresponding investigational output with a discrepancy of the equilibrium time. The predictions of the model will help to discover the optimal conditions of operation

    The crystal structure of C12OH20 (lR-6R-4R-2 R-3,7,7-trimethyl-4-(2-hydroxyethyl) bicyclo [4.1.0] hept-2-ene) has been determined by X-ray diffraction. The compound crystallizes in space group P212121 witha = 5.893(1),b = 22.572(2), c = 26.164(3) &#197;,V = 3480.3 &#197;3, Z= 12. The structure was solved by modified direct methods and refined to anR value of 0.081 for 607 unique reflections. Each asymmetric unit has three molecules which are held together through intermolecular hydrogen bonds resulting in a novel spiral-type arrangement of molecules.
