A characterization of Descartes systems in Haar subspaces
AbstractA characterization of existence of Descartes systems in Haar subspaces is given. Moreover, it is shown that the functions in such systems can be represented as products of piecewise strictly monotone functions
Plug-and-Participate for Limited Devices in the Field of Industrial Automation
Punkt - Maschineninfrastruktur. Ziel war es, generische
Maschinenfunktionalität in einem Netzwerk anzubieten, durch das
Fertigungsaufträge selbstständig navigieren. Als Lösung
präsentiert diese Dissertation ein Plug-and-Participate
basiertes Konzept, welches beliebige Automatisierungsfunktionen
in einer spontanen Gemeinschaft bereitstellt. Basis ist ein
generisches Interface, in dem die generellen Anforderungen
solcher ad-hoc Infrastrukturen aggregiert sind. Die
Implementierung dieses Interfaces in der PABADIS
Referenzimplementierung sowie die Gegenüberstellung der
Systemanforderungen und Systemvoraussetzungen zeigte, das
klassische Plug-and-Participate Technologien wie Jini und UPnP
aufgrund ihrer Anforderungen nicht geeignet sind -
Automatisierungsgeräte stellen oftmals nur eingeschränkte
Ressourcen bereit. Daher wurde als zweites Ergebnis neben dem
Plug-and-Participate basierten Automatisierungskonzept eine
Plug-and-Participate Technologie entwickelt - Pini - die den
Gegebenheiten der Automatisierungswelt gerecht wird und
schließlich eine Anwendung von PABADIS auf heutigen
Automatisierungsanlagen erlaubt.

Streik, Staat, Arbeitskonflikt, Tarifvertrag, Tarifautonomie, Deutschland
Towards Context-aware Process Guidance in Cyber-Physical Systems with Augmented Reality
Assembly, configuration, maintenance, and repair processes in cyber-physical systems (e.g., a press line in a plant) comprise a multitude of complex tasks, whose execution needs to be controlled, coordinated and monitored. Amongst others, a process-centric guidance of users (e.g. service operators) is required, taking the high variability in the assembly of cyber-physical systems (e.g. press line variability) into account. Moreover, the tasks to be performed along these processes may be related to physical components, sensors and actuators, which need to be properly recognized, integrated and operated. In order to digitize cyber-physical processes as well as to guide users in a process-centric way, therefore, we suggest integrating process management technology, sensor/actuator interfaces, and augmented reality techniques. The paper discusses fundamental requirements for such an integration and presents an approach for process-centric user guidance that combines context and process management with augmented reality enhanced tasks. For evaluation purposes, we analyzed the cyber-physical processes of pharmaceutical packaging machines and implemented selected ones based on the approach. Overall, we are able to demonstrate the usefulness of context-aware process management for the flexible support of cyber-physical processes in the Industrial Internet of Things
Design and Evaluation of a Virtual Reality-Based Car Configuration Concept
The Daimler AG provided a concept preview towards the individualization of interior trim parts at the International Motor Show in September 2017, which was named unleash the color. At the show, a tablet computer was used to enable the configuration of a car. The configuration output, in turn, could be either directly previewed on the tablet computer or experienced using a virtual reality application. However, as the car configuration procedure is usually performed iteratively, a user experiences frequent context switches of the used software application, which often leads to an embittered perceived user experience and usability. To remedy these drawbacks, one promising approach constitutes the idea to integrate the configuration procedure into a proper virtual reality application. The work at hand presents Xconcept, which draws upon various state-of-the-art approaches from the field of human-computer interaction to provide a suitable car configuration procedure based on a virtual reality setting. Among other important factors, one fundamental goal of Xconcept constitutes the perceived user experience independently of age, gender, or previous virtual reality experiences. To evaluate whether or not this can be achieved with Xconcept, we conducted a study with employees of the Daimler AG. Although the results of the study reveal that with rising age, the rating of the Xconcept deteriorates, the overall user experience and usability has been rated positively. Interestingly,
gender and previous experiences with virtual reality applications had no significant effect on the rating of the user experience. Altogether, Xconcept shows valuable insights to ease the car configuration procedure based on a proper virtual reality setting
Process-Driven and Flow-Based Processing of Industrial Sensor Data
For machine manufacturing companies, besides the production of high quality and reliable machines, requirements have emerged to maintain machine-related aspects through digital services. The development of such services in the field of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is dealing with solutions such as effective condition monitoring and predictive maintenance. However, appropriate data sources are needed on which digital services can be technically based. As many powerful and cheap sensors have been introduced over the last years, their integration into complex machines is promising for developing digital services for various scenarios. It is apparent that for components handling recorded data of these sensors they must usually deal with large amounts of data. In particular, the labeling of raw sensor data must be furthered by a technical solution. To deal with these data handling challenges in a generic way, a sensor processing pipeline (SPP) was developed, which provides effective methods to capture, process, store, and visualize raw sensor data based on a processing chain. Based on the example of a machine manufacturing company, the SPP approach is presented in this work. For the company involved, the approach has revealed promising results
