    Social and economic postponements at the global level, financial and political instability, big corporatist scandals, global warming imposed changes without precedent in economy, facilitating the passing from the performance concept to the one of “sustainability performance”. The new approach, also known under the name of “triple bottom line” attracted the public’s attention during the latest years determining a big part of the companies to change their attitude, values, orientation in favor of forming responsible visions concerning reporting that should integrate three aspects – economic performance, social performance, and environmental performance.     Considering the impact of risk factors in the economic environment, this study provides to all users of financial information a possible pattern for analyzing the financial equilibrium, designed to clarify the importance of dynamic analysis of indicators characterizing the financial equilibrium of an enterprise, expressed on absolute values, especially for managers in decision-making on future work, aimed at achieving pre-established strategic and tactical objectives. Practice has shown that the management cannot be based on intuition and routine but on a scientific analysis, on a thorough knowledge of the existing situation, as well as on the identification of vulnerabilities and opportunities for development. In order to promote a rational policy concerning business growth and achieving economic and financial satisfactory results, the company’s management grants a special importance to the financial diagnosis. The support of financial analysis is the balance sheet that allows developing financial diagnosis on the financial equilibrium conditions and creditworthiness, objectives that allow the evaluation of the independence of the firm and its market value

    Trauma Informed Approaches to Researcher-Participant Relationships: Examples from a Housing and Health Study

    In qualitative research, the aim of researcher-participant relationships is to allow for vulnerability and authenticity while maintaining professional boundaries. Trauma-informed care (TIC) in mental health services and social work considers the impact of violence and victimization in the lives of clients, while emphasizing trauma as causation (SAMHSA, 2014; Butler, 2011). Applying a trauma-informed approach to qualitative research processes may assist in building rapport with research participants, minimizing re-traumatization, appropriately interpreting results, and uncovering cultural significance. Research suggests that trauma-informed approaches avoid excluding underrepresented voices and allows researchers to engage through a social justice and health equity lens (Roche, 2020). For the purpose of gaining new perspectives and input on how to implement a trauma-informed approach to researcher-participant relationships, we will present our TIC approach to designing a study on housing and health. We will apply the TIC lens to community engagement efforts, interview and survey methodology, and research team practice. Through applying these concepts to research in progress, we hope to generate discussion on the value of TIC in research methodology, with the aim of improving participant experiences in contributing to research for health equity.     Dynamic targeting of the replication machinery to sites of DNA damage

    Components of the DNA replication machinery localize into discrete subnuclear foci after DNA damage, where they play requisite functions in repair processes. Here, we find that the replication factors proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and RPAp34 dynamically exchange at these repair foci with discrete kinetics, and this behavior is distinct from kinetics during DNA replication. Posttranslational modification is hypothesized to target specific proteins for repair, and we find that accumulation and stability of PCNA at sites of damage requires monoubiquitination. Contrary to the popular notion that phosphorylation on the NH2 terminus of RPAp34 directs the protein for repair, we demonstrate that phosphorylation by DNA-dependent protein kinase enhances RPAp34 turnover at repair foci. Together, these findings support a dynamic exchange model in which multiple repair factors regulated by specific modifications have access to and rapidly turn over at sites of DNA damage

    Early and individualized goal-directed therapy for trauma-induced coagulopathy

    Severe trauma-related bleeding is associated with high mortality. Standard coagulation tests provide limited information on the underlying coagulation disorder. Whole-blood viscoelastic tests such as rotational thromboelastometry or thrombelastography offer a more comprehensive insight into the coagulation process in trauma. The results are available within minutes and they provide information about the initiation of coagulation, the speed of clot formation, and the quality and stability of the clot. Viscoelastic tests have the potential to guide coagulation therapy according to the actual needs of each patient, reducing the risks of over- or under-transfusion. The concept of early, individualized and goal-directed therapy is explored in this review and the AUVA Trauma Hospital algorithm for managing trauma-induced coagulopathy is presented

    Comparison of fibrin-based clot elasticity parameters measured by free oscillation rheometry (ReoRox (R)) versus thromboelastometry (ROTEM (R))

    Background. Whole blood viscoelastic tests such as the fibrin-based thromboelastometry (ROTEM (R)) test FIBTEM are increasingly used in the perioperative setting to quickly identify deficits in fibrin quality, and to guide hemostatic therapy. The recently developed FibScreen2 test of the ReoRox (R) method, based on free oscillation rheometry, also provides an evaluation of fibrin clot quality. To date, little information is available on the performance of this test in hemodiluted blood, by comparison to FIBTEM. Methods. Whole blood samples from eight healthy volunteers were analyzed using FIBTEM and Fibscreen2. Native and diluted (to 33% and 50% using saline, gelatin or hydroxyethyl starch [HES]) samples were analyzed. Clot strength parameters, including FIBTEM maximum clot firmness (MCF), FIBTEM maximum clot elasticity (MCE) and Fibscreen2 maximum elasticity (G'max), were measured. Results. In repeatedly measured samples from two volunteers, FIBTEM MCF and Fibscreen2 G'max revealed a coefficient of variation (CV) of 5.3 vs. 16.3% and 5.6 vs. 31.7% for each volunteer, respectively. Hemodilution decreased clot strength. Both Fibscreen2 G'max and FIBTEM parameters decreased proportionally to the dilution ratio when saline was used. The observed reductions in FIBTEM and Fibscreen2 parameters were more severe in samples diluted with gelatin and HES, compared to saline. Finally, a regression analysis between FIBTEM MCE and Fibscreen2 G'max revealed a poor goodness of fit (r(2) = 0.37, p < 0.0001). Conclusions. ReoRox (R) Fibscreen2 test has a high coefficient of variation, and its application in various hemodilution conditions showed limited comparability with the ROTEM (R) FIBTEM test

    New data on Amynodontidae (Mammalia, Perissodactyla) from Eastern Europe: Phylogenetic and palaeobiogeographic implications around the Eocene-Oligocene transition

    Amynodontidae is a family of Rhinocerotoidea (Mammalia, Perissodactyla) known from the late Early Eocene to the latest Oligocene, in North America and Eurasia. European Amynodontidae are very rare, and all remains belong almost exclusively to a single post—Grande Coupure genus from the Oligocene, Cadurcotherium. The “Grande Coupure” defines an extinctions and dispersal-generated originations event in Europe that is nearly contemporaneous with the Eocene-Oligocene transition. Perissodactyls are one of the major groups affected by this event: Palaeotheriidae went almost extinct during this crisis, whereas Rhinocerotidae appeared for the first time in Europe. Study of fossiliferous Eastern-European localities from this age is crucial for the understanding of this crisis. We report here three new localities of Amynodontidae in Eastern Europe. Two of them are dated from the Eocene (Morlaca, Romania; Dorog, Hungary), whereas the other is either Late Eocene or Early Oligocene (DobĂąrca, Romania). The skull from this latter locality belongs unexpectedly to the same individual as a previously described mandible attributed to “Cadurcodon” zimborensis. As a result, this specimen can be allocated to its proper locality, DobĂąrca, and is assigned to a new genus, Sellamynodon gen. nov. It is characterised by an extraordinary growth of the nuchal crest, a unique character among amynodontids. Along with this remarkable material from DobĂąrca, two specimens from another Romanian locality, Morlaca, have been recently discovered and are dated from the Late Eocene. They belong, as well as new material from Dorog (Middle Eocene, Hungary), to the genus Amynodontopsis, also found in North America. The new Hungarian material represents the earliest occurrence of Amynodontidae in Europe. New phylogenetic hypotheses of Rhinocerotoidea are proposed, including the new material presented here, and show that Amynodontidae may be closer to the polyphyletic family ÊœHyracodontidaeÊŒ than to Rhinocerotidae. Amynodontidae, with their deep preorbital fossa and extremely reduced premolars, display in fact a very derived condition, compared to rhinocerotids
