Towards a Human Processual Approach of Business-IT Alignment

    Get PDF
This study answers the question whether human processual interventions are used to improve business-ICT relationships and if not, what the reasons might be for this. Human processual interventions are about improving human relations and match the problem of troubling relationships between IS and business with its associated miscommunication, unclear responsibilities, leadership issues or perceived cultural differences better than techno-structural interventions (pertaining organizational structures, business processes, alignment models, infrastructures, etc.) that are mainly put forward in the literature. Our explorative qualitative research shows that consultants recognize the human relations nature of alignment but that they have different reasons for being inclined towards techno-structural interventions. These reasons provide a mirror to the academic community. We argue that these reasons reinforce the social structure in which many IS people work and that academics are an important group to break with that structure. To this purpose, an adoption of human processual approaches is recommended

Number of Repetitious States in One Dimensional Hubbard Model: a Density Matrix Renormalization Group Perspective

    Get PDF
In this work we investigate some aspects of density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) method. We intuitively show why DMRG works better for open boundary conditions and why the number of sweeps in a periodic system is greater than an open one. We also describe reduction of the Hilbert space dimension using symmetries. Finally, we show that eliminating the repetitious states may help as much as symmetries to reduce the Hilbert space and thus increase the DMRG speed

Electronic and Optical Properties of GaN / AlN Multiple Quantum Wells under Static External Magnetic Field

    Get PDF
In this work, we have investigated the effect of an external magnetic field and, for the first time, number of wells with constant total effective length to study the degeneracy in electronic energy levels. We have used constant total effective length because it is technologically important. Then we have tried to remove the n-fold degeneracy of the n-well multiple quantum well by means of the external magnetic field but the two-fold degeneracy was remain and not removed. Finally, the effect of the external magnetic field on the number of bound states and the situation of unchanging absorption coefficient in a wide magnetic field interval are also investigated. Smart Home: Aligning Business Models and Providers Processes; A case survey

    Get PDF
Smart Home projects require product, service and business model innovation by organizations from multiple sectors. A considerable number of Smart Home projects, however, fail to live up to expectations and to commercialize their services. Business models that enable these projects have to be viable and feasible for the project as a whole as well as for individual involved providers. Moreover, the processes of involved providers have to be aligned, and exchange of information and value has to be well defined. In this paper, we propose three alignment domains that address the operational interactions between the involved providers. Based on a case survey it can be concluded that insufficient attention is paid to the alignment of Business Model as well as to Business Processes between involved providers, who are an essential to service innovation in a value network

Thermodynamic Properties of a Quantum Ring Perturbed with Quantum Wells and Impurities

    Get PDF
In this work, we study the thermodynamic properties of a quantum ring in the presence of an additional quantum well and impurity in its circumstance. Effects of the number of impurities, impurities strengths, quantum ring radiuses and potential well depth on the mean energy, specific heat and entropy of a quantum ring have been investigated. We have seen that, if the temperature or quantum ring radius increases the entropy of the system also increases. Adding few impurities just at low temperatures can change the specific heat. At low temperatures and for small radius quantum rings, adding a quantum well even with a very small height can create a sharp sensible peak in the specific heat diagram versus temperature

Two Dimensional Coulomb Potential of Confined Excitons in Quantum Well Structures

    Get PDF
In this study, we have investigated an exciton confined in a single quantum well. For the first time, we have compared the different methods of approximating the effective two dimensional Coulomb potentials which had been previously reported in the literatures. The effect of different previously introduced trial wave functions on the exciton binding energy is also investigated. In order to have a consistent and stable calculation we have tried to find the true region of variations for free parameters of these trial wave functions. Effects of the barrier thickness and doping fraction are also investigated. When you are citing the document, use the following link http://essuir.sumdu.edu.ua/handle/123456789/3026
