Bounded-depth Frege complexity of Tseitin formulas for all graphs
We prove that there is a constant K such that Tseitin formulas for a connected graph G requires proofs of size 2tw(G)javax.xml.bind.JAXBElement@531a834b in depth-d Frege systems for [Formula presented], where tw(G) is the treewidth of G. This extends Håstad's recent lower bound from grid graphs to any graph. Furthermore, we prove tightness of our bound up to a multiplicative constant in the top exponent. Namely, we show that if a Tseitin formula for a graph G has size s, then for all large enough d, it has a depth-d Frege proof of size 2tw(G)javax.xml.bind.JAXBElement@25a4b51fpoly(s). Through this result we settle the question posed by M. Alekhnovich and A. Razborov of showing that the class of Tseitin formulas is quasi-automatizable for resolution
“Eco-History” and Modern Middle Ages Studies: New Methodological Approaches
Two recent books on the history of the environment and the Middle Ages published by Cambridge University Press are analyzed: Richard Hoffman’s “Ecological History of Medieval Europe” (2014) and Bruce M. S. Campbell’s “The Great Transition: Climate, Disease and Society in the Late Medieval World” (2016). The interdisciplinary approach of both authors is noted, which allowed to re-illuminate such central themes of medieval history as the decline of Rome, religious doctrines, urbanization and technology. It is indicated that the books address key environmental topics: energy use, sustainability, disease and climate change. It is reported that Hoffman and Campbell identify the role of natural forces in such processes as climate change, disease and the transformation of military and political balance. This approach is positively evaluated in this article, as it allows to study the devastating effects of the above factors: hunger, floods, mortality of people and animals, wars and financial crises. It is emphasized that the authors of the analyzed books, immersing medieval history in the context of social ecology, introduce the world of nature into historiography as an acting character (actant) and an object of history itself
Reaction of acyl isocyanates with disubstituted amides and an investigation of hindered internal rotation in amidine molecules
1. Trifluoroacetyl isocyanate reacts with dimethylformamide to form a six-membered cycloadduct. Trichloroacetyl isocyanate reacts similarly with dimethylacetamide. 2. Trifluoroacetyl isocyanate reacts with dimethylacetamide to form a substituted 1, 3, 5-dioxazin-4-one, and with dimethylbenzamide to form 1-trifluoroacetyl-2-phenyl-3, 3-dimethylamidine. 3. Using PMR spectroscopy, hindered internal rotation about the {Mathematical expression} bond in amidine molecules has been studied and its kinetic parameters determined. © 1977 Plenum Publishing Corporation
The assessment of blue lupine varieties according to productivity and adaptability in the conditions of Kirov region
The article provides the results of the comparative study of grain productivity of 7 blue lupine (Lupinus angustifolius L.) varieties bred by the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Lupine in the conditions of Kirov region on sod-podzolic light loamy soil. It has been established that the yield of the seeds of blue lupine varied 1.5-2 times over the years of cultivation (2000-2022) depending on the weather conditions. Over 3 years on the average the varieties Bryansky kormovoy and Siderat were the most productive, 46-287 and 281 g/m2, respectively. Even in extremely unfavorable for blue lupine 2022 (by environment condition index of 62) these varieties significantly exceeded the control (Vitayz – 135.8 g/m2) in yield, by 72.9 and 61.1 %. The coefficient of adaptability of the varieties Siderat 46, Smena, Uzkolistny 53, Bryansky kormovoy was over 100 %. The productivity structure elements of blue lupine, namely: the number of beans per plant, the number of grains per bean and mass of 1000 seeds depended on hydrothermal conditions of the growing period. Under favorable conditions the number of beans per plant and the size of seeds increased. The number of grains per bean was the most stable indicator. The average duration of the growing period of lupine varieties was 84-91 days. In hot and dry weather of 2022 the ripening began 5-7 days earlier than long-time average annual periods. The varieties with highly developed side branching had a longer growing period – Bryansky kormovoy, Uzkolistny 53 and. Vitayz. During the year favorable by hydrothermal conditions the raw protein content in lupine seeds was 30.8-36.5 %. In unfavorable years it decreased by 20-45 % depending on the variety
Maps for developing information competency of sportsman students in conditions of digital transformation
The progress to "cloud-based learning" and transition to "personalized learning" occur within digital transformation of education. Within this context, the authors analyse regulatory documents and recommendations outlined by the professional, teaching, and psychological communities and making the research relevant. The research question put up in the paper is: how to plot maps for developing the information competency of students in conditions of digital transformation. Theoretical substantiation is presented for the following phenomena under study: digital transformation, mapping, individual educational path, the information competency of students. It is pointed out that mapping is the process of creating maps for reducing the unpredictability effect and solving the problem of choice, a way of visualization of the future, and a strategy of one's self-development. It is highlighted that the individual educational route is the authors' approach to self-fulfilment in the real and virtual world. They describe the approach to understanding the student information competency as the key meta-subject educational one. This competency consists of the cognitive, motivational, and activity-based components which are provided with details by students via "understanding", generating their own meanings, and enriching their subject experience. In the paper, the stages of pedagogical support and fulfilment of maps for developing the said competency are described, too: the ascertaining one, transforming, and analytical ones. The pedagogical experience of mapping is summed up which is associated with the students' plotting and fulfilling various types of maps outlined by the authors: subject maps, meta-subject (mental) maps, portfolio maps as the digital footprint, start-up maps. The total of various maps represents the databases and analytical methods of their research. For studying the former, the authors used the expert appraisal method and applied some psychological techniques. The principal research results can be summarized by the statement: in the period of digital transformation and the pandemic, maps have to be plotted for settling emotions in conditions of lockdown and uncertainty, for supporting the relevant student initiatives, and for shaping their profound unmistakable "digital footprint", which characterizes the students' high information competency development level

English Reformer John Frith on Catholic Theology of Purgatory
The Catholic theology of purgatory and its refutation in the works of the ideologists of Protestantism in the first third of the XVI century is analyzed in the article. The works of the little-known in the domestic historiography of the English reformer John Frith (1503-1533) are investigated. Frith’s commitment to Protestant dogmas on justification by faith and the exceptional authority of Holy Scripture is shown. It is noted that Frith, following them, denied the existence of purgatory, since it cannot be confirmed by the Holy Scriptures, and he interpreted the “cleansing fire” mentioned in the New Testament texts symbolically as torment of conscience and repentance. It is claimed that the theologian considered faith to be the atoning sacrifice of Christ the only means of salvation. It is concluded that the denial of purgatory naturally led Frith to a refutation of the Catholic practice of papal acts of grace and their theological justification, for which he was arrested and sentenced to be burned. It is emphasized that J. Frith called purgatory "creation" of the Roman pontiff and saw purely material reasons for the emergence and existence of faith in purgatory. It is noted that criticism by the English reformer of the Catholic faith in purgatory was subsequently reflected in the Anglican creed
Military-Historical Anthropology: Vectors of Theoretical Polemic in Russian and English Historiography
A classification of theoretical approaches in military-historical anthropology is proposed. The authors note that social constructivism prevails in English-language historiography as a whole, while in Russian studies an existential approach does. It is shown that the socio-cultural direction and the phenomenology of the front-line experience have recently begun to play an increasing role. It is concluded that a theoretical analysis of the differences between these approaches allows not only to identify their strengths and problematic sides, but also to outline the prospects for interaction between them. The authors note that the most promising today is the setting for the participation of representatives of the academic community in joint cultural practices of representing the front-line experience with combatants, which makes it possible to make the dialogue between the phenomenology of front-line experience and the socio-cultural approach the most productive. It is argued that within the framework of such a dialogue, the question of the relationship between normative social structures and local practices should not be reduced to a previously known answer. It is emphasized that it makes sense not to level out or radically absolutize the theoretical tension between the indicated approaches, but to work it out — to look for points of practical interaction and modification of existing strategies for comprehending the past
"The Greek world" in the perception of Latin intellectuals
The article examines the problem of the perception of "the Greek world" by the Latin intellectuals of the V and the beginning of the VI century AD, i.e. in the period of time when political, cultural and somewhat religious dissociation between the Western and Eastern parts of the Roman Empire became visible. The hermeneutic analysis of narrative, epistolary and didactic works written in the Latin West in V–VI centuries has been carried out in the article.
The «system codes» through which Latin intellectuals perceived both their own and the Greek world have been reconstructed by the identification of the tropes, metaphors and similes. It has been concluded that the Greek world had been still taking on a role of the creator and preserver of high culture, a kind of indicator of the cultural achievements of the West in the minds of Latin authors of the V–VI century. At the same time the Latin authors’ desire to establish their own self-sufficiency and even cultural superiority in the competition with the Greeks was quite obvious. The article shows that belonging to the Greek civilization served as an identifying feature of noble Roman's which also forced the representatives of German elite to strive for both the Roman and the Greek education in their ambition to legitimize their authority among the Italian population.peer-reviewe
