The Economic Impact of Winter Visitors on Sunbelt Cities: Revenues and Costs of Municipal Governments

    Get PDF
Tourism has become an important component of local economies in towns and cities throughout the Desert Southwest. The annual trek southward of winter snowbirds has become the economic lifeblood of many communities. Assessing the costs and benefits of tourism is too complicated and expensive for most places, especially small towns. This exploratory study examines one type of benefit (sales tax revenue) and one type of cost (city employment) for the resort town of Scottsdale, Arizona. Benefits are found to outweigh costs in Scottsdale by a ratio of 2.2 : 1. Implications and research questions are reviewed

Kalsifikasi Skeleton Aksial Pada Regenerat Ekor Kadal {Mabouya multifasciata Kuhl)

The Effect of Guided Imagery and Health Education on Heart Failure Patient Anxiety During The Covid-19 Pandemic At Hospital X

There are conditions that increase an individual's risk of having a poor prognosis if infected with the COVID-19 virus, including heart disease. This condition can cause anxiety in heart failure patients and reduce the body's resistance. This study aims to identify the effect of guided imagery and health education on the anxiety of heart failure patients during the COVID 19 pandemic. The study used a Quasi Experiment. The number of samples was 62 respondents, given guided imagery relaxation and health education through booklets for 14 days. Statistical tests used Wilcoxon test and Ordinal Logistic Regression. The results showed that the level of anxiety before the intervention 61.3% moderate anxiety level and after the intervention 83.9% were not anxious. There was a significant effect between guided imagery and health education with anxiety levels (0.000). In conclusion, guided imagery relaxation and health education have an effect on decreasing the anxiety level of heart failure patients. This study recommends the need for further research on other therapies as nurse interventions in heart failure nursing care.  Key words: Anxiety; COVID-19; health education; heart failure; guided imagery &nbsp

    Perancangan Konstruksi Pada Segway

Segway is the two wheeled personal transportation device which is light, strong, can balance themselves and used for short distance. On this segway design, performed modeling and construction load simulation with the help of Autodesk Inventor Professional 2012 software. On the loading simulation results, it was shown that segway's construction have good strength, so it is safe to be driven

Subsurface S-type Granitoid Identification Based on Gravity and Seismic Tomography Models in Pacitan, East Java

Granitoid outcrop has been observed in Montongan, Tulakan Subdistrict, Pacitan District, East Java. Geochemically, granitoid shows peralluminous S-type granitoid which consists of comparable plagioclase and potassium feldspar leading to adamelite and granodiorite variety with andalusite, fine size corundum and cordierite inside. These modal minerals are consistent with its bulk chemical analysis result that shows alumina rich rock. Highly weathered spotted pinkish soil with remaining quartz gravels characterizes its surface. Lateritic pink soil up to more than 25 meters thick covers the granitoid body and this feature is indicative to locate its surface distribution, while its subsurface distribution is remain uncertain. The research aimed to identify granitoid subsurface distribution. To identify the subsurface body, gravity and seismic tomography models were used. According gravity model, the pluton body is 5 km wide which is rootless downward and seems extends eastward. Meanwhile, the north-south seismic tomographic model across Pacitan Region indicates dense solid body override the recent Java subduction zone. The body is assumed to have correlation with surface granitic rock. It supports an idea that there is a micro continent trapped beneath Southern Mountain of East Java

Combining scores from different patient reported outcome measures in meta-analyses: when is it justified?

BACKGROUND: Combining outcomes and the use of standardized effect measures such as effect size and standardized response mean across instruments allows more comprehensive meta-analyses and should avoid selection bias. However, such analysis ideally requires that the instruments correlate strongly and that the underlying assumption of similar responsiveness is fulfilled. The aim of the study was to assess the correlation between two widely used health-related quality of life instruments for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and to compare the instruments' responsiveness on a study level. METHODS: We systematically identified all longitudinal studies that used both the Chronic Respiratory Questionnaire (CRQ) and the St. George's Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) through electronic searches of MEDLINE, EMBASE, CENTRAL and PubMed. We assessed the correlation between CRQ (scale 1 – 7) and SGRQ (scale 1 – 100) change scores and compared responsiveness of the two instruments by comparing standardized response means (change scores divided by their standard deviation). RESULTS: We identified 15 studies with 23 patient groups. CRQ change scores ranged from -0.19 to 1.87 (median 0.35, IQR 0.14–0.68) and from -16.00 to 3.00 (median -3.00, IQR -4.73–0.25) for SGRQ change scores. The correlation between CRQ and SGRQ change scores was 0.88. Standardized response means of the CRQ (median 0.51, IQR 0.19–0.98) were significantly higher (p < 0.001) than for the SGRQ (median 0.26, IQR -0.03–0.40). CONCLUSION: Investigators should be cautious about pooling the results from different instruments in meta-analysis even if they appear to measure similar constructs. Despite high correlation in changes scores, responsiveness of instruments may differ substantially and could lead to important between-study heterogeneity and biased meta-analyses
