Linear and cyclic hymenistatin I (HS I) analogues with dipeptide segments Ile2-Pro3, Pro3-Pro4 and Val6-Pro7 replaced by their tetrazole analogues Ile-Ψ[CN4]-Ala3, Pro3-Ψ[CN4]-Ala4 and Val6-Ψ[CN4]-Alawere synthesized by the solid phase peptide synthesis method and cyclized with the TBTU and/or HATU reagent. The peptides were examined for their immunosuppressive activity in the lymphocyte proliferation test (LPT)

The 46th EuroCongress on Drug Synthesis and Analysis (ECDSA-2017) was arranged within the celebration of the 65th Anniversary of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia from 5-8 September 2017 to get together specialists in medicinal chemistry, organic synthesis, pharmaceutical analysis, screening of bioactive compounds, pharmacology and drug formulations; promote the exchange of scientific results, methods and ideas; and encourage cooperation between researchers from all over the world. The topic of the conference, Drug Synthesis and Analysis, meant that the symposium welcomed all pharmacists and/or researchers (chemists, analysts, biologists) and students interested in scientific work dealing with investigations of biologically active compounds as potential drugs. The authors of this manuscript were plenary speakers and other participants of the symposium and members of their research teams. The following summary highlights the major points/topics of the meeting

Oskar Kolberg’s Study of the Musical Culture of the Hutsuls

    No full text
Henryk Oskar Kolberg (1814–1890), a musician, composer, the greatest Polish ethnographer and one of the fathers of European ethnomusicology, collected over 20,000 folk songs, dances, and instrumental melodies from the territory of today’s Poland, Belarus, Ukraine and other Slavic countries. The musical culture of the Hutsuls was an object of Oskar Kolberg’s interest in the late 1870s and early 1880s. The research material related to this region was collected by Kolberg, similarly as in other regions, from two different types of sources. The core of his work consisted of field notes written down during his few trips to that region. Another way of collecting information for Kolberg’s publication included an extensive study of already published resources – historical and ethnographical works, collections of songs, short articles, etc. Kolberg’s study of the musical culture of the Hutsuls is a very valuable source for the history of the culture of this part of Europe

Badania terenowe, służące zgromadzeniu materiału źródłowego, prowadzono w pięciu miejscowościach (Wierszynie, Pichtyńsku, Irkucku, Usolu Syberyjskim i Ułan-Ude), należących do dwóch jednostek administracyjnych Federacji Rosyjskiej (obwodu irkuckiego oraz Republiki Buriacji). This paper elaborates on Polish musical traditions and their role in creating the national and ethic identities of Polish immigrants’ descendants who live in southeastern Siberia. In order to collect the source material, the field works were conducted in five towns (Viershina, Pichtynsk, Irkutsk, Siberian Usole and Ulan-Ude) that are parts of two administrative units of the Russian Federation (Irkutsk Oblast and the Republic of Buryatia). The members of the reviewed groups are the descendants of both the displaced people and the migrants. The type of migration had a strong impact on the present cultural condition of these groups. They do not create one homogenous diaspora, but a few diasporas that preserve the language, religion, customs and musical traditions of their descendants to the different degree. This in turn has an impact on their national and ethnic affiliations. The relationships between music and identity are analysed using three theories that are present in the social sciences nowadays – symbolic interactionism, performance studies and reflexive anthropology. The main category of analysis here is a performance. It is understood as the manifestation of the culture on the one hand and the interaction influencing the creation of identity of its participants on the other hand
