    M-LEARNING DEVICE: USING VIDEO TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ WRITING SKILL

    Mobile learning devises like; mobility, flexibility, availability, supporting all kinds of communications, and interaction between teacher and students. The use of mobile learning has an effect on learning the era of industrial revolution 4.0 that touches the virtual world, human connectivity, machine, and data, known as the Internet of Things. The objective of study was to use video based mobile learning on students’ writing skill. The participants of the study were 80 students at grade 10 SMK 4, Malang. They were asked to write an essay after watching a video. They stated that using video based mobile learning was helpful in improving the quality of their writing both content and techniques. The usage of mobile learning is necessary to improve students’ writing skill and their thinking skills

    Students’ Perception towards Synchronous and Asynchronous Learning Modes at Faculty of Teacher Training and Education

    This study aimed to find out students' perceptions of synchronous and asynchronous learning modes. This research was conducted at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatra Utara. This study used a qualitative descriptive method and used random sampling. The subjects of this study were 50 students filling out the questionnaire and 8 students being interviewed. From the results of the study, it can be seen that as many as 72% of students are satisfied with the synchronous learning mode, and as many as 66% of students are satisfied with the asynchronous learning mode. It can be seen that more students like synchronous learning mode than asynchronous learning mode by online learning using whatssapp, google classroom, and zoom application

    This community services aimed to provide the training of teaching early childhood for teachers in using English based on a scientific approach in Medan. The method used is based on an analysis of the needs of English-speaking teachers in the city of Medan. This training carried out in three stages, namely preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The result of this training is to train teachers' teaching skills using educative learning tools in schools by practicing English vocabulary which is easier based on a scientific approach, namely observing, asking questions, gathering information, reasoning, and communicating. And enthusiastic teachers for  teaching using beginner’s English can provide new vocabularies and improve language development to children.Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan mengajar anak usia dini bagi guru-guru dalam menggunakan bahasa Inggris berbasis pendekatan saintifik di kota Medan. Metode yang dilakukan berdasarkan analisis kebutuhan pengajar yang berbahasa Inggris di kota Medan. Pelatihan ini dilakukan dengan tiga tahap yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Hasil dari pelatihan ini adalah melatih keterampilan guru mengajar menggunakan alat pembelajaran edukatif di sekolah dengan mempraktikkan kosakata berbahasa Inggris yang lebih mudah berbasis pendekatan saintifik, yaitu mengamati, menanya, mengumpulkan informasi, menalar, dan mengomunikasikan. Sehingga, antusias guru-guru mengajar dengan bahasa Inggris pemula dapat memberikan kosakata baru dan meningkatkan perkembangan bahasa kepada anak-anak

    The Objective of study is to find  the result of the learning process of Adobe Flash as media on the course of Pengembangan Media Pembelajaran through E-Learning system at English education study program in University of Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara. E-learning provides a set of tools to enrich the value of conventional learning model, studies of textbooks, CD-ROMs, and computer-based training. Students can answer the challenges of globalization. Research Method used descriptive method through qualitative approach. Method of research conducted qualitative. Sample of research were forth semester students of English education study program. E learning system of UMSU provided schedule of course, attendance check, discussion forum between a lecture and students, task file, exercises file integrated Moodle and google form, module e book of Pengembangan Media Pembelajaran, slide file presentation, all activities viewed past, present and future time. Adobe flash media learning English implemented by virtual for one semester. The students can be active teaching English using Adobe Flash, simple material for presentation. They were enthusiastic when learn Adobe flash as media leaning English

    Students’ Perceptions in Using Zoom Video Conference as a Learning Media

    This research aimed to determine students' perceptions toward using zoom as a learning medium during online EFL (English as a foreign Language) learning. This research also uses a qualitative descriptive method. Data sources were obtained from 50 of 8th-semester students by distributing questionnaires, and ten randomly selected students for interviews. The results of the questionnaire obtained were processed using quantitative and interviews by entering interview transcripts. The results of this study indicate that students have positive perceptions and attitudes about using zoom as a learning medium during online EFL learning. Students who consider zoom, a video conferencing technology that assists students with online learning and does not restrict discussion in English, can also utilize zoom to improve and enhance their English. Zoom allows us to have a virtual classroom and it is the ideal choice for learning, discussing, and attending meetings and webinars since its functions allow students to communicate with both the instructor and their peers at the same time, anywhere as learning media

    Media learning of dongle during covid-19 pandemic

    Abstract. The objective of study was to analyse the application of learning media throughthe dongle during Covid-19 pandemic this year. This research method conductedqualitative. Population were all fourth semester students of English Language Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education in the even semester of the 2019/2020 years, with a total population of 136 students. Sample were 32 students 4th semester of the English education. The development of science and technology shifts the paradigm of conventional learning towards innovative learning models. Now, students need learning media using dongles in the class that can ease learning by carrying out activities systematically, where they have to explain, presentation, find references easily. They have not been able to properly use a smartphone that actually affects their learning motivation. In fact, the presentation of student assignments through the dongle will likely be highly innovative. It is the learning media that functions to direct students to obtain a variety of learning experiences during covid-19 pandemic that are determined by student interactionwith the media.     The objective of study was an analysis of students’ reading skill using mobile device during learning-from-home policy in the post pandemic time. Method design of study conducted by using descriptive qualitative research. The population was 40 students at eighth of Junior High School in PAB 19 HELVETIA. Sample was 20 students consist of 12 girls and 8 boys in 2021/2022 the academic years used purposive sampling. The technique of data used three steps, were: 1.) Questionnaire, 2.) Test, 3.) Documentation. The results of study was the students reading test were nine (45%) who could read fluently, five students (10%) could read with good accuracy, five students (10%) could pronounce well, and seven students (35%) could read with good intonation. The total percentage of students’ reading skill of assessment aspects aloud (in the average) 25%. So, the researcher concluded 75 % students couldn’t read well and didn’t understand about English reading. It is meant that their English reading skill were poor when online learning using by mobile device during learning-from-home policy in the post pandemic time

    This purpose of study analyzed mobile learning application using by Dangle tool through Islamic values for students of English department at Faculty of Teacher Training and Education in University of Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara. Research method conducted descriptive qualitative. Population conducted of 136 students 4th semester of English department in 2019/2020 academic year in University of Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara. Sample of 32 students taken Curriculum Design Material subject of English department at Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. The technique of collecting data used observation and documentation during the learning process. Data collection method carried out using by the spiral model of Kemmis and Mc and Taggart, these were; Action planning, treatment / observation of action, reflection and revision. The results of study showed the students can use the dongle properly and enthusiastically used it in the class of assignment presentation. M-learning application of dongle tool should be carried out in all classes in University of Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara to advance learning technology
