    Fragmentation of Positronium (Ps) in collision with Li ion

    Fragmentation of ground state ortho Positronium (Ps) in collision with Li ion (Li+) is studied in the framework of post collisional Coulomb distorted eikonal approximation (CDEA) for the target elastic case . The present model takes account of the two center effect on the ejected e which is crucial for a proper description of the projectile ionization involving an ionic target. Both the fully differential (TDCS) and the doubly differential (DDCS) cross sections (energy spectra) are investigated at intermediate and high incident energies. A broad distinct Electron loss peak (ELP) centered around v_e ~ v_p is noted in the e energy spectrum in contrast to the sharp ELP for a heavy projectile. Two salient features are noted in the present study: i) the shift of the e DDCS peak (summed over e+ angles) towards higher ejection energy with respect to half the residual energy of the system, ii) comparison of the e& e+ energy spectra reflect a strong e - e+ asymmetry with respect to the ratio v_e/v_p =1 >. Both these features could be attributed to the post collisional two center effect on the e due to its parent nucleus (e+) and the screened target ion . Two different wave functions of the Li ion are chosen in order to test the sensitivity of the present results with respect to the choice of the wave function.Comment: 19 pages, 7 figure

Few studies have been conducted to explore and decipher the molecular basis of RWA strategies to evade plant defense mechanisms. Gene expression studies of RWA in response to wheat genotypes carrying different RWA resistance genes have been initiated in our group; however, a secure and accurate understanding of RWA gene expression is dependent on identification of suitable reference genes. This study analyzed expression profiles of five potential reference genes selected and sequenced during RNA sequencing experiments. The expression of genes coding for actin and ribosomal protein L27 was comparatively less variable in RWA fed on different wheat hosts. Results of geNorm, NormFinder, and BestKeeper expression analyses support the use of actin and ribosomal protein L27 in RT-qPCR studies of RWA gene expression in studies involving RWA-wheat interactions

    Free-Free Transitions of the e-H System Inside a Dense Plasma Irradiated by a Laser Field at Very Low Incident-Electron Energies

    The free-free transition is studied for an electron-hydrogen atom in ground state when a low-energy electron (external) is injected into hydrogenic plasma in the presence of an external homogenous, monochromatic, and linearly polarized laser field. The effect of plasma screening is considered in the Debye-Huckel approximation. The calculations are performed in the soft photon limit. The incident electron is considered to be dressed by the laser field in a nonperturbative manner by choosing the Volkov solutions in both the initial and final channels. The space part of the scattering wave function for the electron is solved numerically by taking into account the electron exchange. The laser-assisted differential and total cross sections are calculated for single-photon absorption or emission and no-photon exchange in the soft photon limit, the laser intensity being much less than the atomic field intensity. The calculations have been carried out for various values of Debye parameter, ranging from 0.005 to 0.12. A strong suppression is noted in the laser-assisted cross sections as compared to the field-free situation. A significant difference is noted for the singlet and triplet cross sections. The suppression is much more in the triplet states

    Response to sub-threshold stimulus is enhanced by spatially heterogeneous activity

    Sub-threshold stimuli cannot initiate excitations in active media, but surprisingly as we show in this paper, they can alter the time-evolution of spatially heterogeneous activity by modifying the recovery dynamics. This results in significant reduction of waveback velocity which may lead to spatial coherence, terminating all activity in the medium including spatiotemporal chaos. We analytically derive model-independent conditions for which such behavior can be observed.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure
