The compounds containing thiazole, thiadiazole, oxazole, oxadiazole, imidazole, pyrimidine, pyridine & benzothiazole rings have been found to exhibit broad spectrum of biological activities.Derivatives of 1, 2, 4-thiadiazole and 1, 2, 4-thiadiazolidines exhibit antibacterial and antifungal activity1. Thiazolyl guanidines2 and various substituted aryl guanidine’s have been found to exhibit antibacterial & antifungal activities3.Keeping all these views in mind attempts were made to synthesized some new 1,3-di methyl Substituted Guanidine. In the present work 2,4 Dimethyl -3,5-(di Aryl imino)-1,2,4-thiadiazolidines were prepared by nitrous acid oxidation of N-methyl –N Aryl thiourea4 & 2,4 dimethyl-3,5-(diaryl imino)-1,2,4-thiazolidines were converted to corresponding 1,3 di methyl substituted guanidine’s by their acid catalyzed re-arrangment5.(Scheme-1)Antibacterial & Antifungal activity of the title compounds were evaluated against two bacteria, E.coli & lactobacillus & two fungi, A.Brassicicola & Aspergillus Niger. N=methyl-N`-Aryl thiourea (1-10) were prepared by refluxing a mixture of different 2-Amino Heterocyclic moieties with methyl iso thiocyanate in Ethanol.A mixture of compound (1-100 and conc. HCl, ethanol was added drop wise & under stirring to a solution of NaNO2 in water afforded 2, 4-dimethyl-3,5-(di Aryl imino)-1,2,4-thiadiazolidine (11-20) afforded 1,3 di methyl substituted guanidine’s (21-30). Structures of the compounds were established by elemental analysis & spectral data

Pregnancy Rates in Repeat-breeder Heifers Following Multiple Artificial Inseminations during Spontaneous Oestrus

Hormonal asynchronies during oestrus, related to the presence of suprabasal plasma-progesterone (P4) concentrations and a delayed ovulation, interfere with the fertility of repeat-breeder heifers (RBH). Since tubal dysfunction can occur in connection with hormonal asynchronies and constrained availability of fertile spermatozoa at the time of ovulation, the present study tested the hypothesis that frequent sperm deposition from onset of oestrus to ovulation may improve pregnancy rates in RBH. Five RBH and five virgin heifers (VH; controls) were repeatedly artificially inseminated (AI) at 6 h intervals from onset of oestrus to spontaneous ovulation. Hormone analyses revealed suprabasal P4 concentrations and a delay in the occurrence of the luteinising hormone (LH) surge, but a normal cortisol profile in RBH. Compared with controls, RBH presented longer interval from onset of oestrus to ovulation, and therefore, received more AIs. Pregnancy rates in RBH reached control levels (60%; NS), indicating that the hypothesis might be correct. Pregnancy rates in VH were below the expected range, presumably attributed to a deleterious influence of the frequent handling. The study suggests that pregnancy rates can be improved in RBH by frequent AI in relation to spontaneous ovulation. However, this practice of repeated manipulations, while seeming not to show adverse effects, lacks practicality for routine use

A Qualitative Analysis of the Success of Entrepreneurship Development Programs Based on Segment Studies

    Get PDF
Entrepreneurship Development Program include Strategies to increase Business which involve identifying areas where new ventures can be set up and so it is important to analyse the success of such program. This Paper is aimed at analysing success of the Entrepreneurship Development Program that are carried out across the country by educational institutions. A Survey was carried out across all such institutes where EDP was delivered and the participants were asked to rate the program attended by them on parameters that play a key role in development of the entrepreneurial skills. The data of 1000 such participants were taken. Their results were segregated and aggregated and the result was studied through pie graphs to give a qualitative analysis of the inclination of each group among the segregated ones

Nanotherapeutics and HIV: Four Decades of Infection Canvass the Quest for Drug Development Using Nanomedical Technologies

    Get PDF
We have seen four decades of human struggle to cure or eradicate HIV infection since the first clinical detection of HIV infection. Various developed drugs such as nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs), non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs), protease inhibitors, integrase inhibitors, microbicides, and others have known restrictions, such as side effects and resistance development when used alone, and hidden reservoir of the virus, which have opened the gates for the involvement of nanomedicine associated systems, particularly for latent sites of HIV infection. The nanotechnological vehicles, such as liposomes, dendrimers, metal nanoparticles, polymeric nanocapsules/particles, surfactants, and targeted vehicles have become part of extensive studies for application in real settings for the delivery of NRTIs, NNRTIs, microbicides, and siRNA. The positional standing of research in quest of potential therapeutics for combating HIV infection in reference for four decades with this virus need a rational evaluation of nanotechnology to achieve a practical solution to save the lives

Transcriptome profiling of staphylococcus aureus associated extracellular vesicles reveals presence of small RNA-cargo

    Get PDF
Bacterial extracellular vesicles (EVs) have a vital role in bacterial pathogenesis. However, to date, the small RNA-cargo of EVs released by the opportunistic pathogen Staphylococcus aureus has not been characterized. Here, we shed light on the association of small RNAs with EVs secreted by S. aureus MSSA476 cultured in iron-depleted bacteriologic media supplemented with a subinhibitory dosage of vancomycin to mimic infection condition. Confocal microscopy analysis on intact RNase-treated EVs indicated that RNA is associated with EV particles. Transcriptomic followed by bioinformatics analysis of EV-associated RNA revealed the presence of potential gene regulatory small RNAs and high levels of tRNAs. Among the EV-associated enriched small RNAs were SsrA, RsaC and RNAIII. Our finding invites new insights into the potential role of EV-associated RNA as a modulator of host-pathogen interaction. Strategic selection of white maize inbred lines for tropical adaptation and their utilization in developing stable, medium to long duration maize hybrids

White maize plays an important role in human diet, especially in traditional crop growing regions of northern hill region, north-eastern states and central-western parts of India. Breeding efforts to enhance the genetic potential of white maize was not so prominent as compared to yellow maize in the country. As a result, genetic base of the material utilized in white maize breeding program in India is very narrow and majorly contains indigenous germplasm and few introductions. Hence, efforts were made to use 365 white maize inbred lines from CIMMYT, Mexico, for breeding program. These new inbred lines were grown at winter nursery center, Indian Institute of Maize Research, New Delhi for its tropical adaptation. After preliminary evaluation, a total 47 inbred lines were selected and evaluated in randomized complete block design with two replications at Regional Maize Research and Seed Production Centre, Begusarai, Bihar, during rabi 2014. Out of this top performing 12 inbred lines viz, CML 47, CML 95, CML 314, CML 319, CML 377, CML 488, CML 494, CML 504, CML 517, CML 522, CML 531 and CML 538 were selected and were crossed in diallel manner to obtain 66 medium to long duration experimental hybrids. Stability analysis using AMMI model was done to identify adaptive hybrids with high yielding potentiality. According to the ASVi value obtained, the hybrid G38 appeared to be stable followed by G50 and G44. On the other hand, the hybrid G25 appeared as location specific hybrid suitable for high input conditions
