A reading enrichment program for gifted adolescents

Esta investigación de nivel descriptivo examina el desempeño en comprensión de lectura de cuatro adolescentes talentosos durante un programa de enriquecimiento en lectura. Este desempeño es relacionado con las variables asociadas a la conducta talentosa, de acuerdo al modelo de Mönks: motivación, creatividad, alta capacidad, escuela, pares y familia. Se encontró que la escuela no satisface las demandas cognitivas ni brinda el soporte social esperado. La familia brinda el soporte social principal. La motivación, la creatividad, el alto nivel de lenguaje y de concentración de los participantes facilitan el aprendizaje. El programa de lectura es descrito por los participantes como motivador debido a los temas y la metodología; además, por la oportunidad del intercambio con pares del mismo nivel cognitivo. === === ABSTRACT === === This descriptive research examines the performance on reading comprehension of four gifted adolescents participating in a reading enrichment program. This performance is related to the variables associated to the gifted performance following the model developed by Mönks: motivation, creativity, high ability, school, peers and family. Results showed that school does not satisfy the cognitive needs of these students and it does not offer the required social support either. The family provides the main social support. The motivation, creativity, the high level of language and concentration of the participants facilitate learning. The reading program is described by the participants as motivating due to the subject-matters and methodology; furthermore, due to the opportunity to deal with peers who have a similar cognitive level

Los cultivos transgénicos como tema emergente en Guatemala y Venezuela

En los últimos años el tema de los cultivos transgénicos ha sido ampliamente tratado; la bibliografía y publicaciones difundidas así lo demuestran. Con base en la revisión de fuentes hemerográficas y el posterior análisis de la información, el objetivo de este trabajo fue conocer los actores que han intervenido, en Venezuela y Guatemala, en el debate público sobre los cultivos transgénicos, y en función de su posición y particular forma de participación, identificar el nivel de polémica y los posibles conflictos entre los distintos actores. Para el caso de Guatemala, se concluye que la definición de una postura de gobierno que permita el desarrollo de un marco legal que avale, regule o prohíba el cultivo de transgénicos, resulta una tarea difícil, debido a que se necesita alcanzar un consenso entre posturas antagónicas. En el caso de Venezuela, se observa que el debate público se enfatizó en momentos en los cuales se estaban generando importantes instrumentos legales para proteger la diversidad biológica. Muchos conflictos de intereses se encuentran estrechamente asociados al tema de los transgénicos en estos dos países, situación que, sin importar la postura que se tome respecto a los mismos, está generando una problemática compleja.In the most recent years the development and later impulse attain by the transgenic crops has been the object of a large international debate, specially in countries in which the extensive or intensive implementation of this sort of crops it's the goal, different kinds of publications are proof of this. The review of hemerographic information and its later analysis is presented here; with the only purpose to allow a fare approach in time and space of the different actors involved in the public debate, in the particular case of Venezuela and Guatemala. It was possible to locate these actors by means of the position and type of participation, all this allow the identification of the level of polemic and possible conflicts between actors. In the Guatemalan case, the accomplishment of a legal instrument that authorizes, regulates or prohibits the transgenic crops, it's complicated because there no commitment between antagonistic postures. In the other hand, in Venezuela there was a peak in the public debate at the time when it took place the development of an important legal instrument concerning the protection of the biological diversity. These two countries exhibit different conflicts of interests related to the transgenic crops debate, condition that by it self generates a complex problematic

Resumo O presente texto é o diálogo a partir da oficina de aprendizagem aplicada no Curso de Gestão Financeira e Orçamentária do SUAS, instituído pelo Programa Capacita SUAS no Pará, tendo como cenário a região dos Tapajós, curso realizado na cidade de Santarém em junho de 2015. O objetivo do Curso é de potencializar os trabalhadores do SUAS, para a correta gestão financeira e orçamentaria do SUAS. Frente a este objetivo é fundamental refletir as atribuições do conselho municipal de assistência social frente a gestão financeira e orçamentária. Portanto, o presente trabalho apresenta o resultado das discussões realizadas no Programa de Educação Permanente Capacita SUAS

Stockmarket comovements revisited

We revisit the issue of comovements of emerging and developed stockmarkets, and provide a simultaneous treatment of data for the eighties and nineties. We show that while emerging markets experience greater instability in the long term than their developed counterparts, there is room for short-term strategies to take advantage of profit opportunities in the emerging markets, especially in India.

Patterns of antenal sensilla of Panstrongylus megistus from three Brazilian states

The objective of the present study was to analyze and describe the phenotype of the antennal sensilla of Panstrongylus megistus, one of the epidemiologically most important species of triatomines in Brazil. Specimens from the Brazilian states of Goiás (GO), Minas Gerais (MG), and Rio Grande do Sul (RS) were compared, based on studies of four types of sensilla on three antennal segments: thick-walled trichoid (TK), thin-walled trichoid (TH), bristles (BR), and basiconica (BA). Discriminant analysis allowed the separation of the RS specimens from those of GO and MG. Multivariate discriminant analysis demonstrated that the sensilla of males differed from those of females, the variables with greatest weight being the BA of all three segments and the TK of flagellum 1. The basiconica sensilla were significantly more abundant in females, on all three segments. Synthesis of polyols of different lignocellulosic residues to obtain greener products.

216 p.Diferentes residuos lignocelulósicos, fueron convertidos en polioles usando alcoholes poli hídricos como disolventes. Mediante un diseño experimental se determinaron las condiciones óptimas de los polioles. Los distintos polioles fueron caracterizados y usados para sustituir parcialmente el fenol en las formulaciones de resinas fenólicas. Por último, las resinas fueran caracterizadas y evaluadas como adhesivo para tableros de madera.Los resultados obtenidos demuestran que los polioles pueden sustituir parte del fenol en las formulaciones de resinas resoles. Los adhesivos fenólicos presentaron buenas propiedades mecánicas
