This paper analyzes the syntactico-semantic factors which trigger Dative shift in English dativizable verbs, i.e. those verbs that allow alternation between double object and prepositional complement constructions. It also focuses on non-dativizable verbs that restrict their subcategorization framework to either double object or prepositional complement constructions. This syntactico-semantic relation between dativizable and nondativizable structures is addressed in acquisition by examining the incidence for the two verb types in a set of English/Spanish 2L1 bilingual twins. Our results show that the syntactic and semantic features that dativizable and non-dativizables present go hand in hand with the age of first occurrence and the language development of the participants. Hence, dativizable to-dative double object constructions (DOC) are the utterances produced the earliest at the age of 2, as opposed to dativizable to/for-datives and non-dativizable constructions, which begin to emerge at around the age of 3. Finally, our results also suggest that the high adult input frequency explains the twins' early production of dativizable structures and that, in the same way, the children's low exposure to non-dativizable utterances correlates with the later occurrence in the twins' spontaneous production.peer-reviewe

This work is an investigation of:( 1) mortality of the Colorado potato beetle (CPB), Leptinotarsa decemlineata (Say), under different modes of exposure to the pathogen Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) Vuill., (2) host and environmental factors affecting sporulation, production, and viability of B. bassiana conidia from infected cadavers of CPB larvae, and (3) transmission of the disease in CPB populations. The research leads to an improved understanding of the process of transmission of B. bassiana in CPB populations. This may enhance its use as a biological control agent for this pest insect. The highest rate of mortality of CPB larvae (77 percent) was achieved through direct spray of the insects with conidial suspensions of B. bassiana together with exposure to inoculated foliage. Direct spraying alone resulted in 76 percent mortality and exposure to inoculated foliage resulted in 34 percent. B. bassiana killed larvae sporulated within 2 days after death at 100 percent relative humidity and 25°C, and produced 1.75 x l04 to 8.7 x 108 conidid/insect. Cadaver size had the largest impact on the amount of conidia produced. Larvae treated as third and fourth instars produce significantly lower densities of conidia than larvae treated as first and seconds instars. Lower dosages of B. bassiana increased conidia production. Cadavers did not produce conidia at humidity levels lower than 95 percent. Exposure to intermediate levels of humidity resulted in a longer time to sporulation when at a later date the cadaver were transferred to optimal conditions for sporulation. Thus lower relative humidities are detrimental to the fungus. An optimum range of temperature for maximum production of conidia was observed to be between 15 and 30°C. Cadavers exposed to soil produced on average more conidia than cadavers incubated without soil for the same period of time. In the field, the most favorable environmental conditions for sporulation, production and viability of B. bassiana conidia occurred under a potato canopy. High relative humidity (\u3e95%) and soil moisture benefit sporulation and conidia production. Cadavers can persist in the field for more than 30 days and viability of conidia decreased over time but recovered after a rain event. Transmission of the disease in the potato canopy was too low to detect. Transmission was more likely to occur at the soil level where pre-pupae may encounter fallen sporulated cadavers while searching for a site to burrow for pupation

This present article has as its main focus the reconfiguration of the development matrix acting in Argentina, as a result of the deepening crisis and the social conflicts from 2001-02. Identifies the presence of inflexions and continuities in this moment of hegemonic recomposition, which some authors call of “post neo-liberal neo-developmentalist phase”, fruit of the correlations of forces resulting in the general movement of the society. Therefore, addresses, in first place, the neo-liberal reaction in the mark of the capitalist crisis and the logic configuration of the accumulation in a flexible standard. In second place it analyzes the context of crisis from the beginning of the 21st century, highlighting the inflexions and continuities with the neo-liberalism and characterizing the behavior of the main socioeconomic indicators. In third place , discusses the reactions to neo-liberalism and the neo-developmentalist recomposition observed in Argentina as well in some national experiences in the latin american region, identifying continuities and ruptures. For last , taking as reference this context, it analyzes the orientation of the social policies after the 2001 crisis, putting in discussion the state action and its politics with the projects of society that are in dispute in Argentina nowadays.Fil: Fernandez Soto, Silvia. The Centre Catala del Plastic and Universidad Rey Juan Carlos laboratories joined forces to investigate the effect of the notch-sharpening technique on the fracture parameters of styrene-acrylonitrile. Contact notch-sharpening techniques, such as razor tapping, razor sliding, and razor broaching, and a noncontact procedure, femtolaser, were analyzed. The fracture values of the samples with notches sharpened via contact techniques were divided into two groups: one with pop-in and the other with no pop-in in the load-displacement records; this resulted in the lowest and highest fracture toughnesses, respectively. The fracture parameters of the specimens with notches sharpened via a femtolaser were between those of the samples with notches sharpened via contact procedures in which pop-in occurred and those in which it did not. To explain these results, the crack front of the nontested specimens after sharpening was investigated in depth, we identified the type of damage and measured its size and the crack tip radii. The morphology of the crack front was related to the fractographic study.Postprint (author's final draft

In this paper we pointed out the economic, political and social context that arises and implements the Universal allocation per child in Argentina as a program of "Conditional Cash Transfers" adopted at the end of the year 2009. We characterize this program from a set of dimensions of analysis, from a broad perspective and complex on social policy, and identify problems in relation to the orientation and sense of ethics that aim. In relation to these questions we put some tensions that make central to the development of capitalism and to the implementation of policies: the relationship of the conditions and forms of work organization and inequalities with contemporary forms of social protection; the role of the conditionalities and tensions with universalist perspective. In this way do we account for the configuration of a new system of social protection in line with the contemporary transformations of capitalism.Fil: Fernandez Soto, Silvia.
