Adaptive time-stepping for incompressible flow part I: scalar advection-diffusion

    Get PDF
Even the simplest advection-diffusion problems can exhibit multiple time scales. This means that robust variable step time integrators are a prerequisite if such problems are to be efficiently solved computationally. The performance of the second order trapezoid rule using an explicit Adams–Bashforth method for error control is assessed in this work. This combination is particularly well suited to long time integration of advection-dominated problems. Herein it is shown that a stabilized implementation of the trapezoid rule leads to a very effective integrator in other situations: specifically diffusion problems with rough initial data; and general advection-diffusion problems with different physical time scales governing the system evolution

The Effect of Storage Temperature on the Quality of Honey

Honey is natural liquid produced by honey bees. In reality, the quality can be reduced if the storage is not done properly. Diastase enzyme activity is one of the important honey quality parameters. The purpose of this research was to determine the quality of honey that was influenced by storage temperature on the activity of the diastase enzyme using Spectrophotometry method. Samples were obtained from the beekeeping area of East Jakarta. The results showed that, storage temperature greatly affects the quality of honey. Diastase enzyme activity was significantly different in each treatment at storage temeprature (P-Value < 0,05). Honey's best storage temperature was at room temperature (26oC) compared to hot (50oC) and cold (±5oC) temperatures

Adaptive time-stepping for incompressible flow. Part II: Navier-Stokes equations

We outline a new class of robust and efficient methods for solving the Navier- Stokes equations. We describe a general solution strategy that has two basic building blocks: an implicit time integrator using a stabilized trapezoid rule with an explicit Adams-Bashforth method for error control, and a robust Krylov subspace solver for the spatially discretized system. We present numerical experiments illustrating the potential of our approach. © 2010 Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics

ABTRACT The purpose of this evaluation is to study the tradition of building houses and the values contained in the tradition. This research is descriptive with qualitative agreement. Researchers become the main source in obtaining data from the results of field analysis and interviews. The research location was in Tinabani Village, Ende District, Ende Regency. The intensive relationship between the people of Tinabani Village and their natural, social and historical environment has provided knowledge of the use of materials provided by nature for escaping purposes. From the social side it is known how the Tinabani people work hand in hand in the process of making a house. This attitude of mutual cooperation makes the community more harmonious and peaceful. Meanwhile, history recognizes the traditions and traditions that bind their lives. It can be concluded that the people of Tinabani Village make good use of nature to preserve history. Tinabani people have strong traditions and social relations.   Keywords; Tradition, Home, Local Wisdom, Tinaban
