Introduction: Acne is a pathology that affects many people around the world, causing impacts that compromise the integumentary and emotional system, shaking personal self-esteem and people's image, in this regard, the present work aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of using the salicylic acid in the treatment of this pathology. Objective: to survey the literature on the effectiveness of the use of salicylic acid in the treatment of acne-prone skin. Method: this was an integrative review, which was carried out by means of a bibliographic survey through the Google academic databases and the Virtual Health Library (BVS). Through the inclusion criteria, the following predefinitions were related: scientific articles with full texts in Portuguese and English, in the years 2017 to 2022 and the exclusion ones were those without relevance for scientific research on a given topic. Results: Categories were defined after the analysis and selection of the studies, such as: use of chemical peels with salicylic acid, topical treatments with the use of salicylic acid and dermocosmetics containing salicylic acid in their formulations. Conclusion: this work led to an expansion of knowledge about the use of salicylic acid in the treatment of acne and, above all, about the effectiveness of this active in relation to the treatment and contribution to the aesthetics and improvement of the individual's quality of life

Dietary Pattern and Macronutrients Profile on the Variation of Inflammatory Biomarkers: Scientific Update

    Get PDF
It is known that the dietary pattern and macronutrients profile may influence the expression and secretion of inflammatory biomarkers, and the low-grade inflammation is associated with the manifestation of noncommunicable chronic diseases. Therefore, this review aimed to present and discuss the role of dietary patterns and macronutrients on the variation of inflammatory markers related to NCD risk. Scientific evidences within the last five years based on clinical trials, case-controls, cohorts, and cross-sectional studies indicate that normocaloric, carbohydrate-moderated, low-glycemic index, protein-moderated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acid-rich, omega-3, and low-saturated fat diets display positive effects on the inflammatory state, both in healthy individuals and in those with cardiovascular risk, although the second group seems to benefit more from changes in the dietary profile

Espinha bífida, diplomielia e múltiplas malformações em um cordeiro Texel

This report described the clinical and pathological aspects of open spina bifida and diplomyelia along with multiple congenital malformations in a Texel lamb. Clinically, paresis of the thoracic limbs, paralysis of the pelvic limbs and a cutaneous opening in the lumbosacral region were observed. At necropsy, there was a focally extensive disruption of the skin associated with an absence of the dorsal portions of the lumbosacral vertebrae. Additionally, diplomyelia of the lumbar segment, mild hydromyelia of thoracic segment, and moderate communicating hydrocephalus of the lateral and third ventricles were noted. Possible viral etiologies (bovine viral diarrhea virus, bluetongue virus, and Schmallemberg virus) were not detected by RT-PCR, and toxic plants were not identified. Therefore, a possible genetic cause may not be discarded.

Electrochemistry for biofuels waste valorization: vinasse as a reducing agent for Pt/C and its application to the electrolysis of glycerin and vinasse

Waste vinasse has been used, for the first time, as a reducing agent to prepare a 20 wt% Pt/C electrocatalyst. After alkalization and subsequent filtration, abundant cations such as Ca, Mg and Fe were effectively removed, precipitating as hydroxides and insoluble phosphates. Pt chemical reduction was carried out under reflux in the presence of Vulcan XC-72R carbon by the action of reductive species such as sugars and phenols present. Reduction was confirmed by thermal analysis and X-ray diffractograms displaying the typical Pt fcc structure formed by nanocrystals. In the transmission images, an irregular dispersion of the Pt nanoparticles was observed on the carbon support, with the presence of large agglomerations with a cotton-like structure. This structure was found to be very active for glycerol electrolysis in an alkaline membrane electrolysis cell, comparable to commercial materials. Finally, results for electrolysis of the vinasse were also presented, demonstrating the possibility of valorizing this residue by the production of hydrogen
