The order Phallales harbors gasteroid fungi known as stinkhorns, false-truffles, witches’cages and bridal veils, and is mainly characterized by the fetid smelling basidiome, insect-associated dispersal mechanism, and mucilaginous gleba. The order has been well studied in Brazil, with greater occurrence in the southern and northeastern regions of the country. The state of  Bahia has only records of the species Abrachium floriforme and Lysurus sphaerocephalum. The objective of this study is to present new occurrences of Phallales for the State.  The species were collected in the Bahia State, in the municipalities of Elísio Medrado, Mucugê, Salvador and Uruçuca. One herborized specimen from Lençóis was included in the analyses. Seven species were identified: Abrachium floriforme, Itajahya galericulata, Mutinus caninus, M. elegans, M. verrucosus, Phallus denigricans and P. merulinus. All represent new occurrences for the State of Bahia, except A. floriforme. Descriptions, identification key, notes and photos of the species are provided. This study aims to describe the assistance provided by nursing professionals to patients with sepsis, according to the literature of the last five years. This is an integrative literature review study. The bibliographic survey was carried out between July and August 2023, in the LILACS, SCIELO and Periódico CAPES databases. To increase the scope of the review, the Boolean AND operator was used. The descriptors were used: sepsis “AND” nursing, which are registered in the Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) and which were defined according to the proposed theme. The inclusion criteria for this study were original articles published in full, available in indexed databases, written in Portuguese and published between the period 2018 to 2023. After crossing the descriptors with Boolean in the databases, we found 55 studies in LILACS, 23 in SCIELO and 153 in CAPES. After analyzing, reading the articles and applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of 8 studies were selected to compose the integrative review, as these covered the proposed theme and achieved the proposed objectives. Regarding the approach of the selected studies, 1 was cross-sectional descriptive, 1 observational retrospective study, 1 cross-sectional study, descriptive of a documental nature, 2 qualitative descriptive studies, 1 cross-sectional with a retrospective approach, 1 exploratory descriptive with a qualitative approach and 1 descriptive in nature quantitative. It was evident that many nursing professionals had scientific knowledge for the recognition and management of patients with septicemia. However, some still lack training, as they confuse the signs and symptoms of sepsis with other pathologies and even fail to provide efficient assistance, as they do not carry out a rigorous evaluation of the patient to identify the signs of septicemia. ABSTRACT Geastrum is a genus of gasteroid fungi characterized by a star-like basidiome and a bellows mechanism for releasing spores. The genus is represented by 41 species in the Brazilian northeast region. In the State of Bahia only seven species are known. The objective of this work is to describe the new occurrences of Geastrum for the State. Geastrum argentinum represents the first record for northeastern Brazil; G. brunneocapilatum, G. entomophilum, G. lloydianum and G. triplex represent the first record for Bahia State funga. Descriptions, photos of the species and checklist for northeastern Brazil are presented

We have studied molecular and morphological data of Geastrum aculeatum sp. nov. and G. echinulatum sp. nov. These two species were found in Brazil's semi-arid region and in central Amazon. It is characterized by the nature of the mycelial layer with aculeate tufts. Geastrum echinulatum differs from G. aculeatum in the size of the spores, presence of subiculum and structural details in the mycelial tufts. The phylogenetic analyses were performed through parsimony and Bayesian methods, using the atp6 and LSU regions. These analyses confirm that both species are distinctly segregated from the other Geastrum species analyzed here. © 2013 J. Cramer in Gebr. Borntraeger Verlagsbuchhandlung, Stuttgart, Germany

Updates on Geastrum sect. Exareolata, with a description of a striking new species from the Neotropics

Geastrum is a genus with worldwide distribution and the most species-diverse in the family Geastraceae and is easily recognized by the star-like basidioma in the majority of species. The most recent and accepted classification based on phylogenetic, morphological and chemical data, subdivided the genus into 14 sections. The section Exareolata is formed by eleven species from which only G. echinulatum and G. verrucoramulosum are truly stipitate. During field trips in Brazilian Amazonia, we found a stipitate species of Geastrum. Based on morphological and phylogenetic data, we propose it as a new species for the genus, which forms a sister group of G. verrucoramulosum and is allocated in sect. Exareolata. Geastrum squameoramulosum sp. nov. is characterized by a prominent and well-developed ramified stipe and the presence of scales on the outer surface of the exoperidium. It is known so far only from the Amazon rainforest. We also provide an updated key to the species in this section

Mutinus albotruncatus (Phallales, agaricomycetes), a new phalloid from the Brazilian semiarid, and a key to the world species

A new species of the genus Mutinus has been found in the semiarid region of Northeastern Brazil. Mutinus albotruncatus is described macro- and microscopically, and is characterized by the white pseudostipe and truncated apex. Molecular and ecological data are also provided. Phylogenetic analyses, based on LSU (large subunit of nuclear ribosomal DNA) and atp6 (subunit 6 of ATP synthase) sequences, support the inclusion of this new species in the genus Mutinus. A provisional key to the species of Mutinus known in the world is proposed. © 2015 Magnolia Press
