    Innovation perspectives in international development cooperation : the case of organised civil society

    Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are still in the side-lines of the emerging literature on innovation in international development cooperation, although the topic has been gaining prominence since the 2000s, accompanying the wider transformation of the development cooperation field. The present paper presents the results of a mixed methods research that involved a broad geographic sample of 20 NGO national co-ordinating bodies through an online survey and semi-structured interviews. The goal was to map and analyse innovation perspectives, motivations, and practices in these organisations, understand their relationship with mainstream views of innovation in the field and uncover their potential to promote inclusive innovation. Results suggest that these actors have potential to promote inclusive innovation practices in the field, since they approach innovation with social change as an end goal, as opposed to having an overly solutionist and problem-solving view of social innovation. The paper also highlights the key role of information and communications technologies, as well as digital tools, as both a reason to innovate and enablers of innovation in these organisations.     El perfil y la actuacion profesional del enfermero/a en el centro de atención psicosocial

    Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, envolvendo quatorze enfermeiros de onze Centros de Atenção Psicossocial. Os objetivos do estudo são: caracterizar o perfil profissional do enfermeiro que trabalha no CAPS, e verificar as ações desse profissional no atual modelo de assistência à saúde mental. RESULTADOS: o sexo feminino prevalece; a maioria é formada há mais de 10 anos; a inserção na área de saúde mental se dá tardiamente, e está associada à falta de opção de trabalho e proximidade do serviço com a residência do profissional. Uma parcela demonstra dificuldade para definir sua função num serviço extra-hospitalar. Outra parcela acredita que a ação no CAPS é flexível e identifica um saber que pode ser compartilhado com a equipe multiprofissional. Baixos salários, infraestrutura deficiente e falta de reconhecimento pelos membros da equipe produzem insatisfação no trabalho. A Reforma Psiquiátrica é associada à desospitalização.This qualitative study was performed with fourteen nurses of eleven psychosocial care services. The objectives of the study were the following: to characterize the professional profile of the nurses who work in community psychiatric services and to verify those nurses' practice according to the current model of mental health care. RESULTS: there was a prevalence of females; most had over 10 years since their graduation; their entrance in the mental health area is late and is associated with the lack of job opportunities and the fact that the service is close to their home. One part of the nurses found it difficult to define their work at an extra-hospital environment. On the other hand, another group of nurses believes that the nursing work in mental health services is flexible and it is shared with other workers of the multidisciplinary team. Low salaries, poor infrastructure and the lack of team member acknowledgement generate dissatisfaction at work. The Brazilian Psychiatric Reform is associated with dehospitalization.Se trata de un estudio cualitativo que tiene como sujetos de análisis a catorce enfermeros de once Centros de Atención Psicosocial de la ciudad de São Paulo (Brasil). El objetivo del estudio es caracterizar el perfil profesional del enfermero/a que desempeña sus funciones en un CAPS y verificar sus acciones en el modelo vigente de asistencia a la salud mental. Los datos fueron recogidos a través de entrevistas, empleándose las premisas de Bourdieu. RESULTADOS: prevalece el sexo femenino, la mayoría está graduada hace más de diez años, la inserción en el área de salud mental se produce en forma tardía y está asociada a la falta de opciones de trabajo y a la cercanía del servicio con el domicilio del profesional. Una parte de los entrevistados muestra dificultad para definir su función en un servicio extra hospitalario. Otra parte cree que el trabajo en el CAPS es flexible, e identifica un saber que puede ser compartido con el equipo multidisciplinario. Bajos salarios, infraestructura deficiente y falta de reconocimiento por parta de los miembros del equipo producen insatisfacción en el trabajo.     Contribuições da Copa da Inclusão para a consolidação do campo psicossocial

    Este é um estudo descritivo e analítico de caráter qualitativo, cujo objeto é a ação dos trabalhadores na Copa da Inclusão (seus processos de trabalho). Busca compreender se tal ação considera a vida real do usuário de serviços de saúde mental e, para tal, adotou como categorias teóricas os elementos constitutivos do processo de trabalho, tecnologias em saúde e os pressupostos do campo psicossocial. Os dados empíricos foram coletados por meio de entrevista semi-estruturada e analisados segundo a técnica de análise de enunciação. Os resultados apontam transformações na vida dos usuários, dos serviços e da sociedade coerentes com os pressupostos da Reforma Psiquiátrica brasileira. A Copa da Inclusão prova que atividades intersetoriais são trabalhos vivos em ato, utilizam instrumentos de intervenção potentíssimos no resgate e construção da cidadania das pessoas portadoras de transtornos mentais. As transformações (finalidades dos processos de trabalho) podem estar ocorrendo porque o projeto de intervenção não é mais centrado na doença.This is a descriptive, analytical qualitative study, which looks at workers' action in the Inclusion Cup (their work processes). It aims to understand if that action considers mental health service users' real life and, to do this, it adopted the following theoretical categories: the elements constituting the work process, health technologies and the premises of the psychosocial field. The empirical data were collected by means of semi-structured interviews and analyzed according to the discourse analysis technique. Results point at changes in the users' lives, in services and in the society coherent with the premises of the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform. The Inclusion Cup proves that intersectorial activities are living work in their action, use intervention instruments that are very strong in terms of rescuing and building the citizenship of people with mental disorders. The changes (purposes of the work processes) may be occurring because the intervention project is no longer centered on the disease.Este es un estudio descriptivo y analítico, de carácter cualitativo, cuyo objeto es la acción de los trabajadores en la Copa da Inclusión (sus procesos de trabajo). Busca comprender si tal acción considera la vida real del usuario de los servicios de salude mental y, para esto, adoptó como categorías teóricas los elementos constitutivos del proceso de trabajo, tecnologías en salud y los conceptos del campo psicosocial.     La producción de discurso narrativo en jóvenes y adultos letrados e iletrados

    En este trabajo se presentan los resultados de una investigación que exploró y comparó el desempeño en la producción de discurso narrativo de un grupo de jóvenes y adultos iletrados con el de otro grupo de adultos letrados. Se seleccionaron dos tipos de tareas: relato de experiencia personal y relato a partir de una secuencia de imágenes; pues se consideró que cada tarea planteaba diferentes demandas cognitivas y lingüísticas que podían favorecer, u obstaculizar, el uso de recursos. Se consideró: extensión del relato, largo promedio de la emisión y uso cohesivo de formas anafóricas. Los resultados mostraron tendencias distintas en los dos grupos según la tarea. Mientras que los adultos letrados tuvieron, en general, un buen desempeño discursivo en ambas tareas; el grupo de adultos iletrados tuvo dificultades para producir un relato a partir de imágenes pero mostró un uso adecuado y variado de recursos lingüísticos al relatar experiencias personales.The present work explores and compares the performance of two groups of literate and illiterate people (between 25 and 58 years old the former, and 14 to 65 the latter) in narrative’s production. To this end two different narrative tasks were selected: the production of a personal experience narrative and a narrative based on a sequence of images. It was assumed that each task would present different cognitive and linguistic demands which might support or obstruct subjects’ performance. The analysis of narratives extension, mlu and use of anaphoric expression was undertaken. Results showed a different performance trend between illiterate and literate groups depending on the task. While the literate group had a good performance in the production of both narratives, the illiterate group had difficulties to produce a narrative based on a sequence of images but showed an adequate use of varied linguistic resources when producing personal experiences.Fil: Borzone, Ana Maria.     Que assim seja: a justification in the promotion of brazilian historical heritage

    Este artigo apresenta o projeto “Que Assim Seja”, que, através do teatro popular apresentado numa praça pública do bairro do Pilar, Duque de Caxias – RJ, teve como justificativa a promoção da Igreja Nossa Senhora do Pilar, que apesar de registada como Património Histórico Nacional, encontra-se interditada. Além disso, o espetáculo promoveu o resgate da identidade social e fomento da produção cultural na região, tendo em vista que todos os envolvidos, faziam parte da comunidade local. O artigo perpassa pela construção do espetáculo, narrando todas as etapas de produção bem como as imersões nos estudos culturais sobre o património histórico. Por final, apresentamos os resultados gerados a favor do património que, por estar situado em uma região periférica da baixada fluminense, não goza de muitas políticas públicas.This article presents the project "Que Assim Seja", which through popular drama presented in a public square in the neighborhood of Pilar, Duque de Caxias - RJ, was the basis to promote the Nossa Senhora do Pilar Church, which despite being registered as Historical Patrimony, is closed. In addition, the event promoted the rescue of the social identity and the promotion of cultural production in the region, since all those involved were part of the local community. The article goes through the construction of the show narrating all stages of production as well as immersions in cultural studies on historical heritage. Finally, we present the results in favor of the patrimony that, because it is located in a peripheral region of the state of Rio de Janeiro, is not an object of many public policies.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

    Extending poultry meat shelf life through the application of Cyanara cardunculus L. leaf extracts

    Cynara cardunculus L. (Asteraceae), commonly named cardoon, is a multipurpose crop that includes three varieties, the globe artichoke (var. scolymus (L.) Fiori), the cultivated cardoon (var. altilis DC.), and the wild cardoon (var. sylvestris (Lamk) Fiori). Its flower is normally used as vegetal rennet in the production of some cheeses and its leaves, the main by-product generated, are known for its excellent antioxidant and antimicrobial activities1. These properties may be an asset in the food industry as cardoons’ leaves may be used to delay lipid oxidation and microbial growth, thus prolonging foods’ shelf life. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of cultivated cardoon leaves and the globe artichoke leaves ethanolic extracts, on poultry meat preservation. Poultry meat was mixed with the different extracts at a concentration of 1% (w/w) and stored under refrigeration (5°C ± 2°C) for 15 days. The microbiological growth was evaluated through the assessment of the total mesophilic aerobic microorganisms, total psychrotrophic aerobic microorganisms, and Enterobacteriaceae. The physicochemical characterization was evaluated through moisture, pH, acidity, colour and Total Volatile Basic Nitrogen (TVBN), and the lipid oxidation by Thiobarbituric Acid Reactive Substances (TBARS). Both extracts were effective in retarding microbial growth by maintaining constant pH and level of acidity. After 15 days, poultry meat with both extracts showed a difference up to 11 log CFU/g to control samples (without extract). Also, both extracts were able to reduce the lipid oxidation of the poultry meat when compared to the control samples, at the end of the assay. The colour of extracts can be a limitation due to the greenish-yellow colour that is seen in the meat, although it was more evident in the sample with the cardoon extract. Overall, cardoon extract was the most effective in extending poultry meat shelf life.Cássia H.     Análise microbiológica, físico-química e organoléptica da água consumida pela população da cidade de Chiador (MG)

    Este trabalho teve como objetivo analisar a qualidade da água distribuída na cidade de Chiador (MG), em relação aos parâmetros básicos de potabilidade, conforme Portaria de Consolidação nº 05, anexo XX, de 28 de Setembro de 2017. Chiador é uma cidade da Zona da Mata Mineira, com 2.785 habitantes15, aproximadamente, cuja água de abastecimento é oriunda de dois poços artesianos públicos e de duas nascentes localizadas em áreas particulares. De acordo com as análises realizadas entre 2018 e 2019, a água das mencionadas fontes encontram-se com presença de coliformes totais e, nos pontos 3, 14 e 21, especificamente, ocorreu a detecção de Escherichia coli, fato esperado devido à ausência de tratamento da água, pelo município. A consequência disso é o desencadeamento de surtos de doença a população residente10. Os resultados deste trabalho servem como argumento para alertar as autoridades municipais sobre as condições de potabilidade da água consumida pela população Chiadorense, fato este que guarda plena correlação com a qualidade de vida que está sendo oferecida os habitantes

    El empleo de los tiempos verbales en la re-narración: un estudio de las producciones orales y escritas en niños pequeños

    Este estudio longitudinal tiene por objeto analizar el empleo de los tiempos verbales en las re-narraciones orales y escritas, de niños hispanohablantes de 1º y 2º año de educación primaria para determinar qué demandas cognitivas pueden incidir en la selección de unidades lingüísticas en el inicio del aprendizaje y generar diferencias respecto de la oralidad. Los resultados mostraron que las diferencias entre modalidades se encuentran en la extensión de las producciones, lo que se refleja en la cantidad total de verbos, y en las características propias del estilo de lenguaje escrito (Chafe y Tannen 1987). Asimismo las diferencias entre 1º y 2º grado se encuentran en la extensión de los textos y consecuentemente en la cantidad de verbos.The purpose of this longitudinal study is to analyze the use of verb tenses in oral and written retellings of narratives produced by Spanish speaking children in the first two years of elementary school, in order to reveal the cognitive demands which may affect the learners´selection of linguistic units in the first stages of literacy development. The results showed that the main difference between modalities is observed in text length. This factor influences the number of verbs used in the use of stlylistic features which characterize written texts (Chafe and Tannen 1987).     Microbiological assessment of street foods at the point of sale in Maputo (Mozambique)

    Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess the microbiological quality and safety of street food sold in the main streets and informal markets of Maputo, the capital of Mozambique. Materials and Methods: From 83 different vendors selling different types of foods, 83 samples of ready-to-eat (RTE) street food were analyzed. Mesophiles, Escherichia coli and total coliforms were used as quality and hygiene indicators. Listeria monocytogenes (L. monocytogenes) Salmonella and coagulase-positive staphylococci were used as food safety indicators. Results: High proportions of unsatisfactory food samples were found in both traditional hot (76.7%) and cold (75%) foods. L. monocytogenes and Salmonella were tested negative in this survey. However, when coagulase-positive staphylococci was used as a food safety indicator, approximately 25% (23/83) of the food samples analyzed were classified as unsatisfactory/ potentially hazardous. Conclusions: These results, showing that street food sold in Maputo clearly requires adequate sanitary conditions for its preparation and sale, contribute to the development of good manufacturing practices (GMP) for street food in Maputo, Mozambique.
