    Variant supercurrent multiplets

In N = 1 rigid supersymmetric theories, there exist three standard realizations of the supercurrent multiplet corresponding to the (i) old minimal, (ii) new minimal and (iii) non-minimal off-shell formulations for N = 1 supergravity. Recently, Komargodski and Seiberg in arXiv:1002.2228 put forward a new supercurrent and proved its consistency, although in the past it was believed not to exist. In this paper, three new variant supercurrent multiplets are proposed. Implications for supergravity-matter systems are discussed.Comment: 11 pages; V2: minor changes in sect. 3; V3: published version; V4: typos in eq. (2.3) corrected; V5: comments and references adde

Calcite-aragonite speleothems from a hand-dug cave in Northeast Kansas

    Get PDF
Speleothems in the form of stalactites, linear stalactitic growths, flowstone, and crusts, from a hand-dug cave in Northeast Kansas (Sec. 2 NENW, T2S, R22E) are composed of calcite and aragonite. If the estimated age of the cave is correct, i.e., 150 to 200 years old, the stalactites have grown at a maximum rate of 0.20 to 0.15 millimetres per year along their vertical axes. All of the speleothems examined contain about one percent strontium (based on qualitative emission spectrograph analyses). Rate of supply and evaporation of the vadose waters may dictate whether aragonite or calcite is the polymorph that precipitates from the cave waters

    Green-Schwarz Formulation of Self-Dual Superstring

The self-dual superstring has been described previously in a Neveu-Schwarz-Ramond formulation with local N=2 or 4 world-sheet supersymmetry. We present a Green-Schwarz-type formulation, with manifest spacetime supersymmetry.Comment: 11 pg., (uuencoded dvi file) ITP-SB-92-5

Complete Lagrangian formulation for N=4 topological string

    Get PDF
We give a Lagrangian and display all local symmetries for N=4 topological string by Berkovits, Vafa and Siegel, the latter previously known in the superconformal gauge. Leading to a small N=4 superconformal algebra and exhibiting the manifest Lorentz invariance the model is proposed to be a framework for restoring the manifest Lorentz invariance in N=2 string scattering amplitudes.Comment: 8 pages, LaTex. Random lattice superstrings

    Get PDF
We propose some new simplifying ingredients for Feynman diagrams that seem necessary for random lattice formulations of superstrings. In particular, half the fermionic variables appear only in particle loops (similarly to loop momenta), reducing the supersymmetry of the constituents of the Type IIB superstring to N=1, as expected from their interpretation in the 1/N expansion as super Yang-Mills.Comment: Section 5 which describes contributions of the string measure adde

    Self-Dual N=8 Supergravity as Closed N=2(4) Strings

As open N=2 or 4 strings describe self-dual N=4 super Yang-Mills in 2+2 dimensions, the corresponding closed (heterotic) strings describe self-dual ungauged (gauged) N=8 supergravity. These theories are conveniently formulated in a chiral superspace with general supercoordinate and local OSp(8|2) gauge invariances. The super-light-cone and covariant-component actions are analyzed. Because only half the Lorentz group is gauged, the gravity field equation is just the vanishing of the torsion.Comment: 17 pg., (uuencoded dvi file; revision: forgot 1 stupid term in the last equation) ITP-SB-92-3

    Twistor string as tensionless superstring

    Get PDF
We give a brief review of the twistor string approach to supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories with an emphasis on the different formulations of (super)string models in supertwistor space and their superspace form. We discuss the classical equivalence among the Siegel closed twistor string and the Lorentz harmonics formulation of the (N=4) tensionless superstring, and notice the possible relation of the twistor string to the D=10 Green-Schwarz superstring action, as well as to models in the enlarged, tensorial superspaces that are relevant in higher spin theories.Comment: plain latex, 9 pages.
