We present the numbers of dimer-monomers on the Sierpinski gasket SGd(n)SG_d(n) at stage nn with dimension dd equal to two, three and four, and determine the asymptotic behaviors. The corresponding results on the generalized Sierpinski gasket SGd,b(n)SG_{d,b}(n) with d=2d=2 and b=3,4b=3,4 are obtained.Comment: 30 pages, 10 figures, 10 table

We report the magnetic changes from canted antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic orderings in anti-115-type MnPt5x_{5-x}Pdx_xP (xx = 1, 2, 2.5, 3, 4, and 5) and the discovery of a new rare-earth-free ferromagnet, MnPd5_5P by both theoretical prediction and experimental investigation. The family compounds were synthesized using high temperature solid state method and characterized to crystalize in the anti-CeCoIn5_5 type with the space group P4/mmm exhibiting a two-dimensional layered structural feature. The magnetic property measurements indicate that the compounds ordered from canted A-type antiferromagnet in MnPt5_5P to ferromagnet above the room temperature with varying degrees of coercivity and magnetic moments in MnPd5_5P by reducing the spin orbital coupling. The results of the MnPt5x_{5-x}Pdx_xP have been analyzed in comparison to the other candidates of the 151 family of Mn(Pt/Pd)5_5(P/As) to understand the complex structure-magnetism relationships

Elevated body iron stores are associated with hypertension progression, while hypertension is associated with elevated plasma catecholamine levels in patients. However, there is a gap in our understanding of the connection between catecholamines and iron regulation. Hepcidin is a key iron‐regulatory hormone, which maintains body iron balance. In the present study, we investigated the effects of adrenaline (AD) and norepinephrine (NE) on hepatic hepcidin regulation. Mice were treated with AD, NE, phenylephrine (PE, α1‐adrenergic receptor agonist), prazosin (PZ, α1‐adrenergic receptor antagonist), and/or propranolol (Pro, β‐adrenergic receptor antagonist). The levels of hepcidin, as well as signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3), ferroportin 1 (FPN1), and ferritin‐light (Ft‐L) protein in the liver or spleen, were assessed. Six hours after AD, NE, or PE treatment, hepatic hepcidin mRNA levels increased. Pretreatment with PZ, but not Pro, abolished the effects of AD or NE on STAT3 phosphorylation and hepatic hepcidin expression. When mice were treated with AD or NE continuously for 7 days, an increase in hepatic hepcidin mRNA levels and serum hepcidin concentration was also observed. Meanwhile, the expected downstream effects of elevated hepcidin, namely decreased FPN1 expression and increased Ft‐L protein and non‐heme iron concentrations in the spleen, were observed after the continuous AD or NE treatments. Taken together, we found that AD or NE increase hepatic hepcidin expression via the α1‐adrenergic receptor and STAT3 pathways in mice. The elevated hepatic hepcidin decreased FPN1 levels in the spleen, likely causing the increased iron accumulation in the spleen

The sharp increase in current energy consumption needs the development of fuel cells (FCs) as one of sustainable, renewable, efficient and eco‐friendly electrochemical conversion systems of energy. The performance of electrocatalysts is crucially important for commercialization of FCs. Commercial Pt based catalysts are used due to their high catalytic activity. However, widespread commercialization is impossible because of the scarcity and poor durability of Pt based catalysts. We are on our quest to find a more stable and affordable alternative catalyst of Pt based catalysts. In particular, single‐atom catalysts supported on graphene are greatly attractive because of their unique characteristic and high catalytic activity. In this work, graphene is hydrothermally treated by sulfuric acid to introduce the ion‐exchanging sites. Then, Co2+ ion‐exchanging, 2‐methylimidazole coordination and pyrolysis process are subsequently conducted to prepare highly‐dispersed single‐atom Co species catalyst with outstanding ORR activity and durability. This work presents a new direction for a rational design of single‐atom catalyst on carbon matrix. We would like to thank MICIINUN and FEDER for financial support (Project RTI2018-095291-B-I00)

Mn(Pt1x_{1-x}Pdx_{x})5_5P: Isovalent Tuning of Mn Sublattice Magnetic Order

We report the growth and characterization of MnPd5_5P, a ferromagnet with TC_C \approx 295 K, and conduct a substitutional study with its antiferromagnetic analogue MnPt5_5P. We grow single crystals of MnPd5_5P and Mn(Pt1x_{1-x}Pdx_x)5_5P by adding Mn into (Pt1x_{1-x}Pdx_{x})-P based melts. All compounds in the family adopt the layered anti-CeCoIn5_5 structure with space group P4/mmm, and EDS and XRD results indicate that MnPt5_5P and MnPd5_5P form a solid solution. Based on magnetization and resistance data, we construct a T-x phase diagram for Mn(Pt1x_{1-x}Pdx_x)5_5P and demonstrate the antiferromagnetic order found in MnPt5_5P is extraordinarily sensitive to Pd substitution. At low Pd fractions (x << 0.010), the single antiferromagnetic transition in pure MnPt5_5P splits into a higher temperature ferromagnetic transition followed on cooling by a lower temperature ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic transition and then by a re-entrant antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic transition at lower temperatures. The antiferromagnetic region makes up a bubble that persists to x \approx 0.009 for T \approx 150 K, with all samples x << 0.009 recovering their initial ferromagnetic state with further cooling to base temperature. Over the same low x range we find a non-monotonic change in the room temperature unit cell volume, further suggesting that pure MnPt5_5P is close to an instability. Once x >> 0.010, Mn(Pt1x_{1-x}Pdx_x)5_5P undergoes a single ferromagnetic transition. The Curie temperature increases rapidly with x, rising from TC_C \approx 197 K at x = 0.013 to a maximum of TC_C \approx 312 K for x \approx 0.62, and then falls back to TC_C \approx 295 K for pure MnPd5_5P (x = 1). Given that Pt and Pd are isoelectronic, this work raises questions as to the origin of the extreme sensitivity of the magnetic ground state in MnPt5_5P upon introducing Pd

Return of 4U~1730--22 after 49 years silence: the peculiar burst properties of the 2021/2022 outbursts observed by Insight-HXMT

After in quiescence for 49 years, 4U~1730--22 became active and had two outbursts in 2021 \& 2022; ten thermonuclear X-ray bursts were detected with Insight-HXMT. Among them, the faintest burst showed a double-peaked profile, placing the source as the 5th accreting neutron star (NS) exhibiting double/triple-peaked type-I X-ray bursts; the other bursts showed photospheric radius expansion (PRE). The properties of double-peaked non-PRE burst indicate that it could be related to a stalled burning front. For the five bright PRE bursts, apart from the emission from the neutron star (NS) surface, we find the residuals both in the soft (10 keV) X-ray band. Time-resolved spectroscopy reveals that the excess can be attributed to an enhanced pre-burst/persistent emission or the Comptonization of the burst emission by the corona/boundary-layer. We find, the burst emission shows a rise until the photosphere touches down to the NS surface rather than the theoretical predicted constant Eddington luminosity. The shortage of the burst emission in the early rising phase is beyond the occlusion by the disk. We speculate that the findings above correspond to that the obscured part (not only the lower part) of the NS surface is exposed to the line of sight due to the evaporation of the obscured material by the burst emission, or the burst emission is anisotropic (ξ>1\xi>1) in the burst early phase. In addition, based on the average flux of PRE bursts at their touch-down time, we derive a distance estimation as 10.4 kpc.Comment: arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:2208.13556; text overlap with arXiv:2208.1212

Trace the Accretion Geometry of H 1743--322 with Type C Quasi-periodic Oscillations in Multiple Outbursts

We present a systematic analysis of type C quasi-periodic oscillation (QPO) observations of H 1743--322 throughout the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) era. We find that, while different outbursts have significant flux differences, they show consistent positive correlations between the QPO fractional root-mean-square (rms) amplitude and non-thermal fraction of the emission, which indicate an independence of the intrinsic QPO rms on individual outburst brightness in H 1743--322. However, the dependence of the QPO rms on frequency is different between the outburst rise and decay phases, where QPO fractional rms of the decay phase is significantly lower than that of the rise phase at low frequencies. The spectral analysis also reveals different ranges of coronal temperature between the two outburst stages. A semi-quantitative analysis shows that the Lense-Thirring precession model could be responsible for the QPO rms differences, requiring a variable coronal geometric shape. However, the variable-Comptonization model could also account for the findings. The fact that the rms differences and the hysteresis traces in the hardness-intensity diagram (HID) accompany each other indicates a connection between the two phenomena. By correlating the findings with QPO phase lags and the quasi-simultaneous radio flux previously published, we propose there could be corona-jet transitions in H 1743--322 similar to those that have been recently reported in GRS 1915+105.Comment: 21 pages, 12 figure
