Professional and Teaching Training of Masters in Engineering: Challenges and Solutions

    Get PDF
The paper focuses on some aspects of organizing the training of Master of Engineering for future professional and teaching activity. We carry out a brief overview of the genesis of master’s education in Russia to provide higher education with educators. We discuss the challenges of the higher education system to (1) prepare teaching staff and (2) increase their qualification mobility. The paper analyzes (1) the expediency of including the teaching component in the education programs for masters of engineering, (2) the demand for masters of education in technical universities, and (3) the motivation of masters of education for professional and teaching activity. We obtained the presented empirical material during the research conducted in the 2017–2018 academic year and the 2018-2019 academic year at the Institute of Mechanics and Energy of the Russian State Agrarian University – Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy. The study involved 109 students getting a master’s degree and passing the teaching practice at the university

Final State Certification of Biprofessional Educational Programs Graduates in Russia: Building a Model

    Get PDF
The paper aims to improve the diagnostic procedures of the final state certification of university graduates studying the biprofessional content training program. The research purpose is to build and test a final state certification model of biprofessional educational programs graduates. The authors propose a functional final state certification model of biprofessional educational program graduates, which includes five blocks: (1) normative, (2) informative, (3) technological, (4) diagnostic, and (5) organizational-managerial. A graduate’s competencies, the integrity and effectiveness of their training as a social procurement requirement are confirmed during the final state certification. Certification is a system-forming factor. The paper presents the state examination effectiveness results using automated control in complex interdisciplinary testing and competence-oriented tasks. The proposed model allows for more accurate and targeted diagnostics of the graduates’ educational achievements at state examination during the final state certification

A Near-Infrared Search for Silicates in Jovian Trojan Asteroids

We obtained near-infrared (0.8 - 2.5 micron) spectra of seven Jovian Trojan asteroids that have been formerly reported to show silicate-like absorption features near 1 micron. Our sample includes the Trojan (1172) Aneas, which is one of three Trojans known to possess a comet-like 10 micron emission feature, indicative of fine-grained silicates. Our observations show that all seven Trojans appear featureless in high signal-to-noise ratio spectra. The simultaneous absence of the 1 micron band and presence of the 10 micron emission can be understood if the silicates on (1172) Aneas are iron-poor. In addition, we present near infrared observations of five optically grey Trojans, including three objects from the collisionally produced Eurybates family. The five grey Trojans appear featureless in the near infrared with no diagnostic absorption features. The near infrared spectrum of Eurybates can be best fitted with the spectrum of a CM2 carbonaceous chondrite, which hints that the C-type Eurybates family members may have experienced aqueous alteration.Comment: 22 pages, 5 figures, accepted to be published in A
