ABSTRACT The defect detection problem is of outmost importance in high-tech industries such as aerospace manufacturing and is widely employed using automated industrial quality control systems. In the aerospace manufacturing industry, composite materials are extensively applied as structural components in civilian and military aircraft. To ensure the quality of the product and high reliability, manual inspection and traditional automatic optical inspection have been employed to identify the defects throughout production and maintenance. These inspection techniques have several limitations such as tedious, time- consuming, inconsistent, subjective, labor intensive, expensive, etc. To make the operation effective and efficient, modern automated optical inspection needs to be preferred. In this dissertation work, automatic defect detection techniques are tested on three levels using a novel aerospace composite materials image dataset (ACMID). First, classical machine learning models, namely, Support Vector Machine and Random Forest, are employed for both datasets. Second, deep CNN-based models, such as improved ResNet50 and MobileNetV2 architectures are trained on ACMID datasets. Third, an efficient defect detection technique that combines the features of deep learning and classical machine learning model is proposed for ACMID dataset. To assess the aerospace composite components, all the models are trained and tested on ACMID datasets with distinct sizes. In addition, this work investigates the scenario when defective and non-defective samples are scarce and imbalanced. To overcome the problems of imbalanced and scarce datasets, oversampling techniques and data augmentation using improved deep convolutional generative adversarial networks (DCGAN) are considered. Furthermore, the proposed models are also validated using one of the benchmark steel surface defects (SSD) dataset

In the world of computation, the encryption is a technique by which the plaintext or any type of data which is converted from the readable form is transformed into an encoded form. That encoded form can only be read by another entity if they have corrected key for decryption. The proposed technique providing the security to the data in inefficient way that can be further use in implementation in new upcoming task and enhancement in current running projects of SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) BPEL (Business Process Execution Language)

(Cd-Zn)S: CdCl2, Ho/Tb films were prepared by chemical deposition method on glass and Al substrates at room temperature (RT). The films were characterized by SEM, XRD, optical absorption/specular reflectance and photoluminescence (PL) emission spectral studies. SEM studies show the predominance of layered growth along with cluster of particles. XRD studies show crystalline nature of films with maximum intensity corresponding to the (111) plane of CdS cubic phase. Formation of solid solution of the mixed base is also observed. Diffraction lines corresponding to the impurities indicate the substitution of impurities in the lattice. Optical absorption spectra show absorption transitions within the energy levels of impurities. PL emission is most intense in films prepared on Al substrate, which may be due to greater thickness and better crystallinity of such films. PL emission due to transitions within Ho3+ as well as Tb3+ levels are observed.Tanke slojeve (Cd-Zn)S: CdCl2, Ho/Tb smo pripremali kemijskim taloženjem na staklenu i Al podlogu na sobnoj temperaturi. Te smo slojeve ispitali mjerenjem SEM, XRD, optičke apsorpcije i spektralne odraznosti te fotoluminescentnih emisijskih spectara.

Speech Enhancement using Hmm and Snmf(Os)

    Get PDF
The speech enhancement is the process to enhance the speech signal by reducing the noise from the signal as well as improving the quality of the signal. The speech signal enhancement requires various techniques associated with the signal noise removal as well as the signal patch fixation in order to enhance the frequency of the speech signal. In this paper, we have proposed the new speech enhancement model for the speech enhancement with the amalgamation of the various speech processing techniques together. The proposed model is equipped with the Supervised sparse non-negative matrix factorization (S-SNMF) along with hidden markov model (HMM) and noise reducing filter to overcome the problem of the signal enhancement by reducing the missing values and by enhancing the signal on the weak points detected under the application of the HMM. The experimental results have proved the efficiency of the proposed model in comparison with the existing model. The improvement of nearly 50% has been recorded from the parameters of peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), mean squared error (MSE), signal to noise ratio (SNR) etc

Late research endeavors have put a solid accentuation on novel MANET plan structures and executions to enabling technologies that provide a wide variety of services such as vehicle road safety, enhancing traffic efficiency, reducing the level of accident and road congestion. A great deal of MANET examine works have concentrated on particular territories including steering, broadcasting, Quality of service (QoS). In this paper, demonstrate how MANET could be simulated on MATLAB software using different protocol and parameters, and then measure the simulation performance namely time, no of source, destination, protocol, data length or data join request, hops or switch and packet drop between vehicles. Full reach ability between vehicles has been performed between the Vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to Infrastructure or V to RSU

Plan B paper, M.A., Mathematics, University of Hawaii at Manoa, 2009An Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) is expected to operate in an aquatic environment and compensate for poorly known disturbance forces and moments. Due to uncertain environment, it is difficult to apply an open-loop control scheme for tracking the desired trajectory. The objective of this thesis is to develop a robust feedback trajectory tracking control scheme for an AUV that can track a prescribed trajectory amidst such disturbances

Scrutinizing anti-corruption initiatives in Europe: lessons to learn for India?

Many studies have concluded that corruption hinders economic expansion by threatening the viability of the public budget and reducing the capital available for infrastructure development and social welfare. Thereby cultivating social inequality and eroding trust in the state and institutions. In recent decades, the European Union (EU) and India have experienced multiple corruption cases, including bribery, embezzlement, and abuse of power. Consequently, some EU nations and India have attempted to implement legislations and frameworks to curtail corrupt practices. The impact of adopted approaches can be witnessed in the contrasting scores and ranks of both regions on the Corruption Perception Index. Therefore, considering the distinctiveness in the efficacy of the approaches adopted by both of these regions, this paper intends to explore the efficacy and limitations of anti-corruption initiatives and frameworks implemented in the EU region and, subsequently, recommend the adoption of a similar approach which may prove to be beneficial in addressing the pressing issues of political and bureaucratic corruption in India

Effect of thioglycerol capping on morphology and structure of chemically deposited CdS:NaF,La films

This paper reports the  effect of thioglycerol as capping agent for synthesis of lanthanum (La) doped nanocrystalline CdS semiconducting films on the glass substrate by means of chemical bath deposition (CBD), with Cd(CH3COO)2 as Cadmium (Cd) ion source, and (NH2)2CS as sulphur (S) ion source. Long, rod like structures is observed in SEM micrographs of the films. XRD studies show the existence of both hexagonal and cubic phases. Increase in FWHM is observed for smaller particle due to nanocrystalline effect. UV-VIS absorption studies show shift of absorption edge towards lower wavelength side.&nbsp
