The article tries to explore the role of Work  stress and coping strategies of employee performance, This study is an attempt to emphasis  that performance of  employees is influenced by Work  stress and effort expended by them in coping with stress. Private university Employees are not a stress free community. Overall similarity in coping behavior of employees is indicative of a possibility that the bureaucratic structure has an important role to play in deciding the reactions of employees. According to Lazarus & Folk man (1984) coping is a mechanism of  handling  external and internal demands that are exceeding the resources of the person in order to prevent negative consequences. This research paper is inferential analysis in nature and makes use of primary data as well as secondary data .Regression analysis  were used to test the statistical significance of this impact and ANOVA were used to test the hypothesis. The study found that Majority of employees perceived moderate work stress that are inter-related with Employee’s Performance

Xantho-granulomatous oophoritis is an uncommon, non-neoplastic, chronic process affecting female genital tract. Its clinical and radiological features mimic ovarian neoplasm. Here we present a case report of 42-year-old female with chronic pelvic pain with adnexal mass with infertility and raised CA 125 levels. Histopathological examination revealed it to be a case of xantho-granuous oophoritis. Xantho-granulomatous oophoritis is very rare disease and only few cases have been reported so far and this case is being reported in view of its rarity

Tuberculous peritonitis is one of the least common forms of extrapulmonary tuberculosis. Tuberculous peritonitis in pregnancy is a diagnostic challenge, especially in the absence of lung involvement. We report a case of peritoneal tuberculosis in a 32-Year-old female, a G2A1 with 30 weeks’ gestation came with chief complaint of profuse clear discharge from the umbilicus. USG abdomen and pelvis was suggestive of 1 cm sized wide hypoechoic track in the umbilical region likely communicating with anterior uterine wall, while MRI Fistulogram was suggestive of Oedematous sinus tract in the cutaneous and subcutaneous plane of the periumbilical anterior abdominal wall with no obvious extension beyond the rectus sheath. Anti-tubercular treatment was started for the patient immediately upon diagnosis. The flow of clear discharge ceased within 2 days and the symptoms resolved in 2 weeks. This case is being presented for the rarity of its occurrence specifically in pregnancy

Vesicoureteral Reflux, a Scarred kidney, and Minimal Proteinuria: An Unusual Cause of Adult Secondary Hypertension

    Get PDF
Hypertension affects about 65 million individuals in the United States. In adult patients, primary aldosteronism and renovascular causes are described as most prevalent. Vesicoureteral reflux as a cause of hypertension, while commonly described in pediatric populations, is less prevalent in the adult population especially in the absence of proteinuria. We present the case of a 31-year-old female presenting with early onset hypertension. Workup for renovascular hypertension was unrevealing. She was found to have right-sided vesicoureteral reflux with a unilateral scarred kidney. Patient underwent a nephrectomy with marked improvement in blood pressure control

A Proof-of-principle for Time-Of-Flight Positron Emission Tomography Imaging

Time-Of-Flight (TOF) is a noble technique that is used in Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging worldwide. The scintillator based imaging system that is being used around the world for TOF-PET is very expensive. Multi-gap Resistive Plate Chambers (MRPCs) are gaseous detectors which are easy to fabricate, inexpensive and have excellent position and timing resolution. They can be used as a suitable alternative to highly expensive scintillators. For the sole purpose of TOF-PET, a pair of 18 cm Ă—\times 18 cm, 5 gap, glass-based MRPC modules have been fabricated. Our main aim was to determine the shift in the position of the source (Na-22) with these fabricated MRPCs. In this document, the details of the experimental results will be presented

Pharmacoeconomic comparison of losartan and amlodipine in patients of hypertension in a tertiary care teaching hospital

Background: To conduct a pharmacoeconomic comparison (cost-effectiveness analysis) and to evaluate the overall safety and efficacy of Losartan and Amlodipine in reducing the Mean blood pressure per mm Hg in hypertensive patients. Methods: This was a prospective, randomized, open label, observational analysis of cost-effectiveness; into compare the cost of Losartan 50mg and Amlodipine 5mg in hypertensive patients using either of the two drugs. A total of 80 newly diagnosed drug naĂŻve hypertensive patients were considered for the comparison, of which 40 patients were prescribed Losartan and the other 40 were prescribed Amlodipine as per the recommended dosage. Based on the data, statistical analysis was carried out using SPSS Software Version 21.Results: The two drugs were found to be equi-effective in reducing the blood pressure to the target goal, at their respective equivalent doses Moreover, the cost of reducing 1 mm of Hg mean blood pressure with Losartan was 103.42 INR, whereas that of Amlodipine was 57.11 INR. Hence the cost incurred in treating elevated BP was markedly lower with the Amlodipine group as compared to the Losartan group. Conclusions: This pharmacoeconomic analysis shows that Amlodipine is more cost-effective as compared to Losartan when the cost per mm Hg reduction in mean blood pressure is considered. Hence in India, where the cost of drug is a significant deterrant to patient compliance, cost-effective therapy of chronic disease like hypertension is of prime importance

    Get PDF
Background: Incidence of Pulmonary Mycosis is rampantly growing in critically ill patients. This study was designed to comparatively evaluate conventional and molecular method-Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) for detecting Candida and Aspergillus species in Brocho-Alveolar Lavage (BAL) samples and secondarily to find out the Cost-Effective treatment for Pulmonary Mycosis. Methods: In this study 100 BAL-specimens were collected from patients suspected of Pulmonary Mycosis. These samples were examined for Aspergillus and Candida species by preparation of wet smear using potassium hydroxide, Gram staining, Culture media and Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). For Cost-Effectiveness analysis(CEA), a decision tree model was constructed for Anidulafungin and Fluconazole The probability of treatment success and mortality rate were extracted from published Randomized Control Trials. Incremental Cost Effectiveness Ratio (ICER) was calculated. Results: Out of 100 samples, 22 were found to be positive for mycotic infections, 9 were detected as Candida and 13 as Aspergillus. On comparing with KOH and Culture, it was observed that all KOH positive and all Culture positive fungal infections were PCR positive. In no cases PCR negative was identified either culture or KOH positive. This establishes the superiority of PCR over conventional diagnostic methods. Anidulafungin was associated with an Incremental Cost Effectiveness Ratio (ICER) of INR 1,13,217 per LY saved, which was below the implicit ICER threshold for India. Conclusions: PCR is a novel molecular method for early and definitive diagnosis of fungal infection and Aidulafungin appears to be the cost-effective drug for treatment of Pulmonary Mycosis

A Novel Hybrid Approach for Fast Block Based Motion Estimation

    Get PDF
The current work presents a novel hybrid approach for motion estimation of various video sequences with a purpose to speed up the entire process without affecting the accuracy. The method integrates the dynamic Zero motion pre-judgment (ZMP) technique with Initial search centers (ISC) along with half way search termination and Small diamond search pattern. Calculation of the initial search centers has been shifted after the process of zero motion pre-judgment unlike most the previous approaches so that the search centers for stationary blocks need not be identified. Proper identification of ISC dismisses the need to use any fast block matching algorithm (BMA) to find the motion vectors (MV), rather a fixed search pattern such as small diamond search pattern is sufficient to use. Half way search termination has also been incorporated into the algorithm which helps in deciding whether the predicted ISC is the actual MV or not which further reduced the number of computations. Simulation results of the complete hybrid approach have been compared to other standard methods in the field. The method presented in the manuscript ensures better video quality with fewer computations
