Structural stability for the splash singularities of the water waves problem

In this paper we show a structural stability result for water waves. The main motivation for this result is that we would like to exhibit a water wave whose interface starts as a graph and ends in a splash. Numerical simulations lead to an approximate solution with the desired behaviour. The stability result will conclude that near the approximate solution to water waves there is an exact solution.Comment: 50 pages, 2 figure

A level-set model for thermocapillary motion of deformable fluid particles

A new level-set model is proposed for simulating immiscible thermocapillary flows with variable fluid-property ratios at dynamically deformable interfaces. The Navier–Stokes equations coupled with the energy conservation equation are solved by means of a finite-volume/level-set approach, adapted to a multiple marker methodology in order to avoid the numerical coalescence of the fluid particles. The temperature field is coupled to the surface tension through an equation of state. Some numerical examples including thermocapillary driven convection in two superimposed fluid layers, and thermocapillary motion of single and multiple fluid particles are computed using the present method. Deleuze and politics of the face (faciality): Scope of the State

Aquí pretendemos determinar el territorio político del rostro (y sus alcances de rostridad y rostrificación), presentando una lectura particular de su concepción maquínica de la sociedad: se esboza una lectura crítica respecto de la rostridad en contraposición a la noción de otro y rostro como ‘mundo posible’, cuestión que nos permite problematizar respecto de la figura del aparato de Estado introduciendo nuevos análisis al campo social y político.The problem of politics in Deleuze is an issue that circumscribes and crosses all his work and with varying degrees of intensity, although a more political moment is evidenced following May 68. Considering such philosophical development of his work, here we aim to determine the political territory of the face (and its scope of faciality) bypresenting a particular understanding of his machinic conception of society. Minimization procedure of experimental tests for calibration purposes, within HVAC&R energy efficiency framework

Simulation models and predictive tools need to be fast, accurate and robust at the same time. The models that have to provide numerical solutions under transient conditions for a long period of time need to be simple with the aim of minimizing the time respond, without losing the accuracy. Thus, previous experimental data and a calibration methodology are necessary to assure this objective, both are strictly necessary to reproduce the behaviour with accuracy expected. Consequently, even accurate information (e.g. look-up tables) for HVAC&R components (e.g. heat exchangers, fan/compressor, auxiliary elements, etc.) is known and all coupling system is developed, the minimization of experimental tests for calibration purposed based scattered data interpolation is now an important aspect, which looks for reducing the quantity of experiments necessary to assure the accuracy expected from an optimization point of view. The present work shows an optimization procedure based on test number minimization according detailed error comparison against existing previous data. Sentido y otro (autrui) en Deleuze

La cuestión del otro (autrui) en Deleuze se confunde con la doble tarea de articular una nueva perspectiva sobre el sentido al mismo tiempo que cuestionar la imagen tradicional del pensar. Ello abre tempranamente un territorio para pensar dicha cuestión en su obra. Así, si bien el asunto es tratado sistemáticamente sólo a partir de Différence et répétition (1968) y Logique du sens (1969), ya en Proust et les signes (1964) se insinúan algunos de sus elementos fundamentales. En estas tres obras se juega, en efecto, la idea que nos interesa abordar en este estudio: la de que el territorio del otro es el sentido. Ello no evita introducir también algunas precisiones relativas al rostro y el modo como ello obliga a reformular los vínculos con el sentido. Lo sugerente del francés es que establece un tipo de pensamiento que se instala en la apertura al otro, pero sin que ello implique necesariamente entrar en el registro de la moral ni del conocimiento
