On the influence of tyre and structural properties on the stability of bicycles
In recent years the Whipple Carvallo Bicycle Model has been
extended to analyse high speed stability of bicycles. Various
researchers have developed models taking into account the effects
of front frame compliance and tyre properties, nonetheless, a systematic
analysis has not been yet carried out. This paper aims at analysing
parametrically the influence of front frame compliance and tyre properties
on the open loop stability of bicycles. Some indexes based
on the eigenvalues of the dynamic system are defined to evaluate
quantitatively bicycle stability. The parametric analysis is carried out
with a factorial design approach to determine the most influential
parameters. A commuting and a racing bicycle are considered and
numerical results show different effects of the various parameters
on each bicycle. In the commuting bicycle, the tyre properties have
greater influence than front frame compliance, and the weave mode
has the main effect on stability. Conversely, in the racing bicycle, the
front frame compliance parameters have greater influence than tyre
properties, and the wobble mode has the main effect on stability
Parametric analysis of the stability of a bicycle taking into account geometrical, mass and compliance properties
Some studies of bicycle dynamics have applied the Whipple
Carvallo bicycle model (WCBM) for the stability analysis. The WCBM is
limited, since structural elements are assumed to be rigid bodies. In this paper,
the WCBM is extended to include the front assembly lateral compliance,
and analysis focuses on the study of the open loop stability of a benchmark
bicycle. Experimental tests to identify fork and wheel properties are performed,
this data is used in the stability analysis for ranking the influence of design
parameters. Indexes from the eigenvalues analysis are applied in a full factorial
approach. The results show that introducing front assembly compliance
generates a wobble mode with little effect on self-stability. The forward
displacement of the centre of mass of the rear frame and the increment in trail
lead to large increments in the self-stability, whereas increments in front wheel
radius and wheelbase reduce stability
Testing Choice Experiment for Benefit Transfer
Benefit transfer is a cost-effective method for estimating the value of environmental goods that relies on information obtained in previous studies. The multi-attribute approach of choice experiment should provide advantages in terms of benefit transfer allowing differences in environmental improvements between sites as well as differences in socio-economic and attitude characteristics between respondent populations. Furthermore, choice experiment allows the estimation of implicit prices and the welfare change for many scenarios. If the transferability of these values is confirmed, that would be good news for benefit transfer practitioners. This paper investigates the capability of choice experiment method to be used in environmental benefit transfer.choice experiment, benefit transfer, soil erosion, Research Methods/ Statistical Methods, Q30,
Performance Evaluation of Non-Hitless Spectrum Defragmentation Algorithms in Elastic Optical Networks
Fragmentation in Elastic Optical Networks is an issue caused by isolated, non-aligned, and non-contiguous frequency slots that can not be used to allocate new connection request to the network, due to the optical layer restrictions imposed to the Routing and Spectrum Assignment (RSA) algorithms.
To deal with this issue, several studies about Spectrum Defragmentation have been presented. In this work, we analyze the most important Non-Hitless Defragmentation Algorithms found in the literature, with proactive and reactive approaches that include rerouting and non-rerouting schemes, and compare their performance in terms of Blocking Probability, Entropy, and Bandwidth Fragmentation Ratio. Simulations results showed that the Fragmentation Aware schemes outperformed the other algorithms in low traffic load, but the Reactive schemes got better results in high traffic load.

Corabastos binds a series of big-scale issues for the city and should be relocated and restructured outside the metropolitan area to redevelop economic dynamics at a regional scale and reincorporate satellite towns into a network of new sustainable supply centres for the city. Likewise Corabastos is the main actor of the destruction of the wetlands like La Vaca, the main objective of this project is to recover the original wetland area to make it the heart and engine of sustainable dwellings and urban amenities, and fit them in a new biogeochemical equation. Vertical farming and life-sustaining systems - similar to the ones developed for space travel missions, will provide organic food harvested inside buildings, and electricity from waste, biomass and sewage waters. This means a new model for Corabastos to become the new plenty for a society drowned in a post-conflict sorrow. A model for peace and rehabilitation.Arquitecto (a)Pregrad
In the current degree work, the pre-feasibility study for the creation of a company is developed. This company will provide the following transport services: road freight, wholesaler, and store to store. The following studies were developed: a study of the environment and the sector through the Pestel method, market study, technical, administrative, financial, legal study, and finally a financial evaluation. In the last one, possible scenarios and financing alternatives were used, in order to conclude the pre-feasibility of the creation of the company Boxcarga.
With the development of the project, it is also intended to give knowledge to society about the transport sector. Also, on how it will be in the medium term, the projections of the sector and in the long term about the vehicle fleet. Additionally, data were included, such as the country's logistics capacity and the Government's method to improve said indicator. It analyzes how the country is being updated in multimodal transport and what will be the new ways of adapting new ports and river highways in Colombia
