    Practices of forest exploitation in priority investment projects: Benefits and implications

    The paper discusses the topical issues of investment activities enhancement in the forest sector of the Russian economy by implementing the mechanism of priority investment projects in the field of forest exploitation - economic model of public-private partnership proposed by the forest owner (the State) for the private sector. The aim of the considered investment projects is the development of a timber-processing infrastructure, which is reliably provided with wood raw materials. It becomes possible to ensure certain preferences for businessmen that encourage them to invest money into the forest sector. Thus, the other objective is to develop recommendations for attracting investments into the forest sector of the Russian economy in the framework of priority investment projects. The paper analyzes a ten-year experience in the practice of applying priority investment projects in forest exploitation using an integrated approach to studying project management issues and method of comparison. The research identifies positive moments and a number of organizational and methodological shortcomings related to the development and implementation of investment projects in the forest sector of the Russian Federation.     Formation of the Rational Socio-Economic Worldview Based on the Laws of Nature and Society

    The study is aimed at the improvement of social and economic relations based on modern directions of the formation of a rational socio-economic worldview, eliminating the sociological contradictions of modern society. The use of a system-holistic interdisciplinary methodology determines the need to review the development tools of the problem of creating a rational worldview in society. The basis of the research methodology has become the conceptual matrix of the formation of a rational worldview according to community levels, taking into account the basic socio-economic law of human development in any system. The article presents the results of a study designed as a clarification of the concept of “rational worldview”, creating a list of the benefits of forming a rational socio-economic worldview based on the laws of nature and society, and determining the directions of formation of a rational worldview in the context of the topic under study. The results of the study can be used in the system of state management of economic processes. Novelty/Originality of this study: (1) actualized, based on the systematization of scientific views, the theoretical provisions of the formation of a rational socio-economic worldview and determined the modern directions of its development; (2) the analysis of modern practices of the life of modern society is carried out and the logical and ideological contradictions in the field of behavioral economics are highlighted; (3) the conceptual apparatus of the category “rational worldview” has been clarified in the context of the contradictions in the functioning of socio-economic systems; (4) a conceptual matrix for the formation of a rational worldview has been developed; (5) the advantages of the formation of a rational worldview among the subjects of the development of society are formulated, based on social criteria analysis

    Challenges of enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation in agriculture

    The underlying assumption of the study is that ERP systems can crucially facilitate information exchange; yet, the agricultural sector is slow in their adoption due to different reasons, including a shortage of skilled personnel as well as a lack of knowledge about ERP capabilities among top managers and key employees. The study intends to identify challenges and prospects for ERP implementation in agriculture. The applied methods include the analysis of WoS publications and questionnaire surveys of executives of 55 companies operating in the Middle Urals’ agricultural sector. ERP systems can be defined as comprehensive software solutions aimed to integrate business and management processes through a holistic approach and a single information system. According to expert estimates, in today’s Russia the projects related to the agro-industrial sector account for 1-2% to 10-15% of the projects from the leading ERP vendors, including 1C, Bars Group, and Navigator-Agro. ERP systems in agriculture help improve business performance, reduce and monitor costs. These systems are effective in decision-making and can serve as the basis for precision agriculture. The main barriers are poor personnel skills and competencies, shortage of funds for ERP adoption, poorly developed or absent infrastructure, difficulties of fitting and adapting of ERP systems to agricultural business. In addition, agricultural business owners show no confidence in high-tech solutions and poor knowledge of the above systems. Other problems include operation complexity and insufficient government support in ERP implementation.     Transformation of internal waves at the bottom ledge

    Transformation of internal gravity waves on the oceanic shelf is studied theoretically and numerically within the framework of the linear approximation. It is assumed that internal waves pass over the continental shelf experiencing partial transmission and reflection. The problem is studied for the simplified model of the shelf represented by the sharp bottom ledge. The fluid stratification is assumed to be a two-layer with the density of the upper layer being rho_0, and the density of the lower layer being rho_1. The theoretical approximate formulae are proposed for the transmission and reflection coefficients as the functions of an incoming wave number, density ratio, a depth of the interface between the layers, and depth ratio before and after the ledge edge. Results of direct numerical modelling of linear internal waves transformation are presented as functions of all aforementioned parameters. The modelling was undertaken by means of the numerical code MITgcm. The results obtained are analysed in details and compared against the proposed formulae

    The density of robotization of agriculture in Russia and its regions

    According to the Rosstat data a share of agricultural organizations which introduce technological innovations is low (2.7%). The study aims to determine the density of agricultural robotization in Russia and its regions. The density of agricultural robotization is influenced by the average annual number of employees in the industry, which was 5802 thousand people in 2013-2019 and decreased by 22% over the studied period. The data show that 435 units of robotics were introduced in agricultural organizations in the Russian Federation in 2006-2019. The vast majority of robotics used in agriculture in Russia is milking robots mainly by European manufacturers. Robotics is used in the agricultural sector in the Central (185 units), Volga (95 units), NorthWest (66 units) and Ural (68 units) federal districts. The introduction of robotics in agriculture in the Southern, Siberian and North Caucasian federal districts is practically not carried out. The highest density of agricultural robotization is observed in the Kaluga (42.67 robots per 10 thousand employees in the industry), the Ryazan (14.8), the Sverdlovsk (6.32) and the Vologda Region (6.21). The results of the study will allow development of a mechanism that promotes priority robotization of rural areas where robotization is slow or is not carried out to prevent their technological lagging behind and the further development of a stagnation processes. The scientific significance of the research results will contribute to the development of theoretical aspects of robotics application in agriculture and the spatial aspects of robotization. © 2020, World Scientific and Engineering Academy and Society.     Sustainable condition of the agricultural sector’s environmental, economic, and social components from the perspective of open innovation

    The aim of the study is to elaborate an econometric model to determine the conditions for ensuring the balanced development of environmental, economic, and social components of the Russian agricultural sector within the Eastern European region. The method of fuzzy sets was used to build an integral model for assessing the level of sustainable development of the agricultural sector in Eastern Europe on the basis of economic, environmental, and social sustainability indicators. The control indicators (independent variables) and integral economic, environmental, social sustainability (dependent variables) helped build multifactor linear regression models and calculate the indicators of elasticity of dependent variables from independent variables, which characterize the change in sustainable development indicators with the growth of controlling factors by 1%. This model allows us to define and analyze the levels of sustainable development of the industry, both in a specific country and within the region in general. The study shows that, for Russia and Eastern European countries, innovation is one of the crucial factors in ensuring sustainable development of agriculture in the region, taking into account the current state and level of economic development. © 2021 by the authors.
