The First Fabricated Dual-Band Uncooled Infrared Microbolometer Detector with a Tunable Micro-Mirror Structure
This paper presents the first fabricated dual-band uncooled resistive infrared thermal microbolometer implemented with a resistive microbolometer and a tunable micro-mirror structure. Tunable reflective micro-mirrors are suspended underneath the suspended resistive microbolometers having a 35 mu m pixel pitch, and they are switched between two positions by the application of an electrostatic force for obtaining different responses in two wavelength infrared atmospheric windows, namely the 3-5 and 8-14 mu m, by tuning the optical tunable resonant cavity. This approach allows assessing the actual temperature of the viewed scene by comparing the responses of the detector in these two wavelength infrared atmospheric windows. The absorption coefficients of the detector are simulated by using the Cascaded Transmission Line (CTL) model, and the sacrificial layer thicknesses are optimized to obtain maximum absorption from these two wavelength regions. The absorption coefficients obtained from the measurements are in correspondence with the simulations. The responsivity measurements results shows that the absorption is decreased in an amount of 17.9 % in the 3-5 mu m spectral band, while the absorption is increased in an amount of 8.5 % in the 8-14 mu m spectral band, depending on the micro-mirror position. These initial results are promising for the dual-band detection using uncooled infrared microbolometer detectors
Graphics processing unit based next generation DDoS prevention system
Packet filtering is the main component of prevention systems to protect the network system of the devices against attacks. The algorithm allows the packets to access to network after passing some rules. The packets with decisions are written into a connection table that consists of essential network information. In this paper, we design and implement a massively parallel computation approach of Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) that can be used for network connection tracking. The results show that the GPU based connection table tracking algorithms achieve 90,000,000 packets per second (pps) throughput which is 35 times faster than the packet filtering function defined in Linux kernel
Novel paclitaxel-coated balloon angioplasty via single retrograde popliteal access for challenging superficial femoral artery and iliac artery lesions?
Objectives: We report our results regarding the use of BioPath™ paclitaxel-coated balloon catheters for superficial or distal external iliac artery revascularization via single retrograde popliteal access.
Methods: We included 105 prospective consecutive patients. Single retrograde popliteal access was achieved under ultrasound guidance with the patients laid prone. An over-the-wire atherectomy system was used if risk of distal embolization was high due to plaque intensity of the target lesion. A 4 to 7 mm-diameter BioPath™ 035 balloon catheter was used for all lesions. Follow-up at 6th month included doppler ultrasound examination for patency.
Results: Seventy-two patients (68.6%) had total SFA occlusion and 41 patients (39%) had concomitant external iliac artery involvement, out of whom 31 (29.5%) had total occlusion. Procedural success 90.5% for superficial femoral artery and 85.3% for external iliac artery. One-year patency rates in SFA and EIA were 84.8% and 80.4%, respectively
Conclusion: Single retrograde popliteal access and drug-coated balloon angioplasty may offer a useful alternative to known modalities in treatment of challenging superficial femoral artery and concomitant iliac artery lesion
Surgical Approaches to Symptomatic Arteriovenous Fistula Aneurysms: a Single-Center Experience
Arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) created for hemodialysis accesses are prone to aneurysmal degeneration. Arteriovenous fistula aneurysms may lead to pain, aesthetic problems, infection, bleeding, and fistula thrombosis. The aim of this study is to report our surgical approaches and outcomes of AVF aneurysms. Medical records of a total of 21 patients (9 males, 12 females) with an AVF aneurysm who underwent surgery at Karabuk Training and Research Hospital, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery between January 2013 and March 2015 were retrospectively analyzed. The mean age was 59.7±13.5 years. Aneurysmectomy was performed on eight patients, while partial aneurysmectomy and polytetrafluoroethylene graft interposition were carried out in four patients. Three patients underwent aneurysmorrhaphy, whereas six patients underwent thrombectomy + aneurysmorrhaphy to the aneurysmatic segment. All patients were discharged without any event at the postoperative second day. They were scheduled for follow-up visits and assessed by Doppler ultrasound. Currently, surgical repair is the gold standard in the treatment of AVF aneurysms. Based on our experience, we recommend surgical interventions for selected patients to maintain AVF continuation. Fleas (Insecta: Siphonaptera) collected from some small mammals (Mammalia: Rodentia, Eulipotyphla) in Turkey, with new records and new host associations
International audienceFleas (Insecta Siphonaptera) are among the most common ectoparasites of small mammals. We investigated fleas infesting on the small mammals (Mammalia Rodentia, Eulipotyphla) from 15 different localities in Turkey. A total of 276 flea (133 males and 143 females) specimens belonging to 32 different flea taxa were collected from 90 (42 males, 16 females and 32 undetermined) small mammals belonging to 20 different species. With many new flea-host associations, the first occurrences of Ctenophthalmus agyrtes peusianus Rosicky, Ctenophthalmus golovi golovi Ioff and Tiflov, Ctenophthalmus secundus vicarius Jordan and Rothschild, Doratopsylla dasycnema cuspis Rothschild, Leptopsylla algira popovi(Wagner and Argyropulo) and Rhadinopsylla pentacantha(Rothschild) fleas were reported in Turkey. In addition, three flea species, Ctenophthalmus coniunctus Peus, Ctenophthalmus contiger Peus, and Palaeopsylla incisa Peus, are reported for only the second time since their original descriptions
What is the optimal treatment technique for great saphenous vein diameter of >= 10 mm? Comparison of five different approaches
WOS: 000492599000001PubMed: 31635532Objective: We aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of five different treatment approaches in patients with a great saphenous vein (GSV) diameter of >= 10 mm. Methods: A total of 697 extremities of 671 patients who were diagnosed with a GSV diameter of >= 10 mm underwent conventional surgery or endovenous therapy for symptomatic varicose veins between January 2012 and January 2017 were included in this retrospective study. All extremities included in the study were divided into five groups as follows: high ligation + stripping (HLS), radiofrequency ablation (RFA), cyanoacrylate closure (CAC), endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) procedures at 980 nm and 1,470 nm wavelengths. Results: Among all groups, despite lower recurrence rates in HLS group than the other groups, there was no significant difference at 6 months and 1 year among the HLS, EVLA at 1,470 nm wavelength, and RFA groups. The recurrence rates of EVLA at 980 nm wavelength and CAC groups were found higher than other groups. Conclusions: In conclusion, our study results show that although HLS seems to be an effective method for the treatment of a GSV diameter of >= 10 mm with a low recurrence rate, it does not statistically significantly differ from EVLA at 1,470 nm wavelength and RFA. Therefore, we believe that EVLA at 1,470 nm wavelength and RFA can be preferred over HLS with low pain scores in this patient population
