Radiative corrections to scattering
We investigate the effects of photon radiation on deep-inelastic \re\gamma
scattering. Depending on the set of variables chosen, we find appreciable
effects in the kinematic region accessible at LEP2. Convenient analytic results
for corrected differential cross sections are presented.Comment: 9 pages, latex + 1 postscript figure, all uuencode

Model-independent QED corrections to photon structure-function measurements
We present the first calculation of QED radiative corrections to
deep-inelastic electron-photon scattering in terms of those variables that are
reconstructed in measurements of the photon structure function in
electron-positron collisions. In order to cover the low- region, we do not
invoke the QCD-improved parton model but rather express our results in terms of
the photon structure functions. Both analytical and numerical results are
given.Comment: Latex, 8 pages, 3 figures, uses epsfig.sty, 12pt.st
Central production of mesons: Exotic states versus Pomeron structure
We demonstrate that the azimuthal dependence of central meson production in
hadronic collisions, when suitably binned, provides unambiguous tests of
whether the Pomeron couples like a conserved vector-current to protons. We
discuss the possibility of discriminating between q-qbar and glueball
production in such processes. Our predictions apply also to meson production in
tagged two-photon events at electron--positron colliders and to vector-meson
production in ep collisions at HERA.Comment: 15 pages, latex, no figur
The Role of Screening Corrections in High Energy Photoproduction
The role of screening corrections, calculated using the eikonal model, is
discussed in the context of soft photoproduction. We present a comprehensive
calculation considering the total, elastic and diffractive cross sections
jointly. We examine the differences between our results and those obtained from
the supercritical Pomeron-Reggeon model with no unitarity corrections.Comment: 12 pages (Replacement due to PostScript file problem in previous

Evidence that the Pomeron transforms as a non-conserved vector current
The detailed dependences of central meson production on the azimuthal angle
phi, t and the meson J^P are shown to be consistent with the hypothesis that
the soft Pomeron transforms as a non-conserved vector current. Further tests
are proposed. This opens the way for a quantitative description of q-qbar and
glueball production in p p -> p M p.Comment: 12 pages, latex, 4 figure
Lithium in the Upper Centaurus Lupus and Lower Centaurus Crux Subgroups of Scorpius-Centaurus
We utilize spectroscopically derived model atmosphere parameters and the
\ion{Li}{1} subordinate line and the doublet to
derive lithium abundances for 12 members of the Upper-Centaurus Lupus (UCL) and
Lower-Centaurus Crux (LCC) subgroups of the Scorpius Centaurus OB Association.
The results indicate any intrinsic Li scatter in our 0.9-1.4 stars
is limited to dex, consistent with the lack of dispersion in
stars in the 100 Myr Pleiades and 30-50 Myr IC 2391 and
2602 clusters. Both ab initio uncertainty estimates and the derived abundances
themselves indicate that the 6104 line yields abundances with
equivalent or less scatter than is found from the 6708 doublet as a
result of lower uncertainties for the subordinate feature, a result of low
sensitivity to broadening in the subordinate feature. Because NLTE corrections
are less susceptible to changes in surface gravity and/or metallicity for the
6104 {\AA} line, the subordinate Li feature is preferred for deriving lithium
abundances in young Li-rich stellar association stars with K.Comment: Accepted for publication in Astronomical Journal (abstract shortened
