One-loop analysis with nonlocal boundary conditions
In the eighties, Schroder studied a quantum mechanical model where the
stationary states of Schrodinger's equation obey nonlocal boundary conditions
on a circle in the plane. For such a problem, we perform a detailed one-loop
calculation for three choices of the kernel characterizing the nonlocal
boundary conditions. In such cases, the zeta(0) value is found to coincide with
the one resulting from Robin boundary conditions. The detailed technique here
developed may be useful for studying one-loop properties of quantum field
theory and quantum gravity if nonlocal boundary conditions are imposed.Comment: 17 pages, Revtex4. In the final version, the presentation in section

Electrical properties and non-volatile memory effect of the [Fe(HB(pz)3)2] spin crossover complex integrated in a microelectrode device
We report on the deposition of thin films of the [Fe(HB(pz)3)2] (pz = pyrazolyl) molecular spin crossover complex by thermal evaporation. By means of impedance measurements and Raman microspectroscopy, we show that the films maintain the structure and properties of the bulk material. The conductivity of the films decreases by ca. 2 orders of magnitude when the freshly deposited compound goes through a first (irreversible) thermal phase change above ca. 380 K. This property can be exploited as a non-volatile (read-only) memory effect
Feasibility of Using Cryostored Colorado Potato Beetle (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) Eggs for Rearing \u3ci\u3eEdovum Puttleri\u3c/i\u3e (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae)
Cryostored eggs of Colorado potato beetle, Leptinotarsa decemlineata (Say) eggs were suitable hosts for Edovum puttleri. Parasitism rates were low, however this study was first to show that rearing the parasite on eggs stored at ultra low temperatures (-70 0 C) is feasible. This method of storage will facilitate mass production of E. puttleri as well as prevent loss of the parasite in the event of a crash in the Colorado potato beetle colony

MOTIVASI DAN PERILAKU PENGGEMAR K-POP DI DAERAH ISTIMEWA YOGYAKARTA
Korean Pop (K-Pop) has been a huge sensation all around the world. Te current study investigated motivation and behavior of K-Pop fans in Daerah Istimewa Yog yakarta (DIY ). Specifcally, it addressed four main issues: (1) why do youths in DIY love K-Pop? (2) how did the K-Pop communities emerge in DIY? (3) what have the members done in their K-Pop communities? and (4) how strong is the emotional bond among the K-Pop community members?Te present study employed exploratory qualitative research method, i.e. phenomenological approach, using in-depth interviews as the main data collection method. Fifteen members of fve K-Pop communities (3 males and 12 females) participated in the interviews. In addition, direct observation on several K-Pop communities were conducted to gain comprehensive insights into what specifc activities the members have been doing. Secondary data sources were also consulted, such as websites (www.allkpop.com, www. koreanindo.wordpress.com, and www.asianfanatics.net), magazines (My Idol and Asian Star), and tabloids (Asian Plus). It is found that the main drivers of K-Pop sensation in Indonesia, in particular in DIY, include physical attractiveness of the actors/actresses, energic dances, similar ages with the performers, and so forth. Te big fans of K-Pop are willing to copy their idols’ appearances, listen and watch K-Pop music and clips, look for news about K-Pop, create fanfction, share information among fans, purchase Korean-made electronics, learn more about Korean culture and language, as well as watch the live concerts. Te emergence of several K-Pop communities has facilitated the communication and interaction among the fans. Several implications were drawn based on these fndings. Keywords : Korean Pop (K-Pop), phenomenological approach, brand community, K-Pop community

Superior Semicircular Canal Dehiscence in a Patient with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome: A Case Report.
Superior semicircular canal dehiscence (SSCD) is a bony defect in the middle cranial fossa floor that results in an abnormal connection between the inner ear and cranial vault. Although the etiology of SSCD remains unclear, an inappropriately thin or fragile temporal bone likely predisposes an individual towards developing SSCD. Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) constitutes a group of genetic connective tissue disorders caused by a defect in the production, processing, or structure of collagen, or its associated proteins. The possible association between SSCD and EDS has not been previously described in the literature. We herein report a case of a 50-year-old female with EDS-hypermobility type who presented with a 15-year history of migraines, vertigo, and tinnitus. The patient was subsequently diagnosed with bilateral SSCD and underwent a right middle fossa (pre-auricular infratemporal) craniotomy for SSCD repair. She reported significant improvement in her auditory and vestibular symptoms, with the exception of continued mild dizziness and disequilibrium at the 3-month follow-up. Due to the rare reports of auditory symptoms in EDS, this case study highlights the importance of considering an otological consultation for auditory manifestations in a patient with EDS and illustrates a potential association between EDS and SSCD
Experimental characterization of the structural response of adobe arches
Earth was one of the first construction materials used by mankind and has been used as a building material since ancient times until the present days. Its qualities related to thermal comfort, low cost or simple construction techniques have contributed to such a long tradition throughout the world with several different architectural expressions, integrating the culture and history of each region.
With the wide propagation of steel and concrete structures, there has been a general loss of the traditional knowledge in earth construction. This type of construction presents important structural fragilities and requires a special maintenance to preserve its qualities. In order to understand the structural behaviour of this type of structures, the associated construction methods and processes have to be considered.
Aveiro University has been developing studies on adobe constructions, with research on the material mechanical characterization, experimental study of the structural behaviour of adobe masonry walls and, more recently, in the development of a detailed survey methodology for the characterization of buildings in Aveiro district.
Integrated in these studies, arches with different geometries were built using adobe blocks and traditional construction methods. These arches were tested under different types of vertical loading (distributed symmetrical, distributed non-symmetrical and point load) until collapse. The experimental tests performed reproduce the typical loading conditions of these structures during construction and use. The tests conducted, the results obtained and the main conclusions attained are described in this paper
