Successful social innovations require the incorporation of external knowledge as well as the transformation of the knowledge produced during the development of the innovations themselves. In order for this process of communication and transference to be properly conducted it is not sufficient to have the know-how (tacit dimension) but it also necessary to encode different levels of knowledge (explicit dimension). Thus the knowledge management in an innovative community is a process of encoding scattered knowledge, either articulating or assimilating coding systems.Las innovaciones sociales requieren incorporar conocimiento externo a sus prácticas y reutilizar el conocimiento producido en las diferentes prácticas que la propia innovación requiere. El trabajo analiza la situación y difusión del euskera en Navarra en el S.XVI. El euskera no figura en los libros de palacio ni en los archivos de las chancillerías. El euskera era lengua de pastores. La lengua de los nativos queda excluida de las artes liberales y del comercio, por lo que es difícil encontrar literatura escrita en la época. Los primeros textos vascos figuran en las Glosas Emilianenses. The witching week of herding on bitcoin exchanges

This paper analyses the herding behaviour among exchanges around the expiration of bitcoin futures traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME). The database extends from December 2017 to October 2020, taking as a reference the main exchanges that trade bitcoin (Binance, Bitfinex, Bitstamp, Coinbase, itBit, Kraken, and Gemini) and using hourly closing prices and trading volumes in bitcoin and US dollars. Adapting the proposal of Chang, Cheng and Khorana (2000) (CCK) to test conditional herding, we obtain results that indicate that the herding effect is significant during the week before expiration. After expiration, the herding effect lasts for a few hours and disappears. Information overload originating, among other causes, from sophisticated investors’ strategies may generate this mimetic behaviour. The results show the relevance of intraday data applied to specific events such as expiration since the unconditional analysis shows, in general, anti-herding behaviour throughout the period of study

Accesibilidad y profundidad del sistema financiero : algunas implicaciones para los objetivos de desarrollo y las microfinanzas

Las deficiencias de muchos sistemas financieros locales los hacen excluyentes para amplias capas de población, suponiendo una importante limitación para los procesos de desarrollo. Esta situación ha motivado iniciativas como los programas de microfinanzas, que tratan de ampliar la cobertura de servicios financieros -especilamente el crédito- y avanzar en la lucha contra la pobreza. Sin embargo, la definición de las variables claves que determinan la accesibilidad y los objetivos de desarrollo distan mucho de ser claras. Este trabajo profundiza en las relaciones entre variables relativas al comportamiento del sistema financiero, tratando de identificar su incidencia en los países más pobres, para así, poder avanzar hacia sistemas financieros incluyentes.________________________The shortcomings of many local financial systems keep them out of reach for large sections of population, meaning an important limitation for the processes of development. This situation has motivated initiatives such as the microfinance programmes, which try to extend the coverage of financial services –specially the credit– and to advance in the fight against poverty. However, the definition of the key variables that determine accessibility to the financial system, and the very relationship between financial system and development goals, are far from clear. This paper studies the relations between variables relative to the behaviour of the financial system, trying to identify their impact in the poorest countries in order to advance towards inclusive financial systems

Las relaciones económicas chino-africanas y su incidencia sobre el patrón de desarrollo en el continente africano

Durante los últimos años, la cooperación económica y política entre China y África ha experimentado un notable impulso que se manifiesta en muy diversos ámbitos: flujos comerciales, inversiones, préstamos, AOD, etc. La importancia de estas relaciones ha quedado expresada no sólo por la magnitud de las mismas, sino también por la relevancia otorgada por las autoridades chinas en el plano político. Todo ello ha despertado el creciente interés de la comunidad académica hacia este tema, lo que se ha concretado en una cierta proliferación de estudios y análisis sobre el mismo. El presente trabajo pretende relacionar los análisis llevados a cabo sobre los flujos económicos chino-africanos con el debate sobre el posible impacto de los mismos en el patrón de desarrollo africano. Para ello se toman en cuenta también algunos aspectos que afectan directamente a dicho proceso de desarrollo, como la cuestión de los derechos humanos, o el bilateralismo que caracteriza las mencionadas relaciones y que pudiera amenazar los endebles procesos de integración que tratan de abrirse camino en el continente africano._________________________________In recent years, economic and political cooperation between China and Africa has increased remarkably, clearly noticeable in different fields: trade, investments, loans, aid, etc. The importance of these relations is expressed not only in their scale, but also in the relevance given to them by the Chinese authorities at the political level. The strengthening of that relationship has aroused increasing interest among academics, which is reflected in the proliferation of studies and research on this question. This article aims to link the analyses curried out on the economic flows between China and Africa with the debate about the possible impact of those flows on the development pattern of the African continent. To this end, some other factors that directly affect the development process of these countries are also taken into consideration, such as the issue of human rights, or the bilateralism that characterises those relations, which could threaten the weak integration schemes under way among African economies today

Is there an expiration effect in the bitcoin market?

This paper studies the monthly expiration effect in the bitcoin markets. The emergence of trading in bitcoin futures in regulated markets is an ideal occasion to test this effect on an asset with singular characteristics. Our results with intraday data show that around the time of maturity there are significant changes in the trading volume, volatility and return of bitcoin, an asset that is traded in many exchanges simultaneously. Therefore, there is a clear expiration effect related to bitcoin futures. The closer to the expiration time (shortly beforehand or afterwards), the more intense these effects are. However, in spite of these general results, the expiration effect is not homogeneous across exchanges and depends on the characteristics of the futures contract in question. Robustness tests are also applied to confirm the results. The increasing participation of institutional investors is consistent with our findings, particularly in relation to the expiration effects of cash-settled futures, as these contracts are more appealing for sophisticated investors who could be interested in arbitrage or speculative processes
