Novel Quantum Materials for Spintronic and Opto-Electronic Applications

    Get PDF
Multi-functional quantum materials play a crucial role in the development of spintronics and opto-electronics, as their properties can greatly influence device performance. For instance, in spintronics, materials such as ferromagnetic half-metals, Giant Magnetoresistants (GMR), and magnetic semiconductors have been extensively studied due to their ability to manipulate the spin of electrons for applications in magnetic storage. In opto-electronics, materials such as Diluted Magnetic Semiconductors (DMS) and non-oxide Transparent Conductors (TC) offer advantages such as tunable bandgap and high absorption coefficients, which enable improved device performance. For this purpose, we have experimentally investigated the compounds that have shown theoretically interesting physical properties. In the current study, we have synthesized, characterized, and studied some novel single crystals and polycrystalline structures of Cr-doped ZnTe, CrTex, and etc. to explore for the future candidate quantum materials for spintronic and opto-electronic purposes. Cr-doped ZnTe polycrystalline have depicted transparent conductivity as well as room temperature ferromagnetism for both polycrystalline and single crystalline structures. Also, the electrical transport properties of these compounds enhance along with the increase of the dopant (Cr) concentrations. On the other hand, DFT calculations have come to the conclusion of room temperature ferromagnetic half-metallicity for Cr-doped ZnTe monocrystalline. Furthermore, Cr5Te8 single crystals have exhibited promising high magnetoresistance up to %10 at low external magnetic field due to their self-intercalated van der Waals structures --Abstract, p. i

The establishment of appropriate corporate governance mechanisms of action for the optimal use of resources improves accountability, transparency, fairness and the rights of all stakeholders in the company. Each of the internal and external mechanisms processes and company activities are supervised and promote accountability and achievement of corporate strategic goals is. One of these mechanisms is the focus and ownership structure. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between state ownership and corporate performance assessment criteria according to the rate of return on assets and return on equity in companies listed on the Stock Exchange in Tehran. The sample includes 107 companies during the years 1392-1388 is. Also, multiple regression was used to test hypotheses of significance was performed using the t test and F. Finally, it was found that, between state ownership and Performance measurements based on the rate of return on assets, as well as between property management and performance evaluation criteria based on the rate of return on equity and a significant negative relationship exists. Abstract Usually the oral manifestations of NHL are secondary to a more widespread involvement throughout the body, however, it can rarely present as a primary lesion in the oral cavity, having 0.1% - 0.2% prevalence. In this paper we report a case of highly proliferative oral non-Hodgkin lymphoma which presented with very mild symptoms, but had a sudden and significant progression in less than two weeks with involvement of all four quadrants of the oral cavity. Accuracy of linear measurement using cone-beam computed tomography at different reconstruction angles

Purpose: This study was performed to evaluate the effect of changing the orientation of a reconstructed image on the accuracy of linear measurements using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: Forty-two titanium pins were inserted in seven dry sheep mandibles. The length of these pins was measured using a digital caliper with readability of 0.01 mm. Mandibles were radiographed using a CBCT device. When the CBCT images were reconstructed, the orientation of slices was adjusted to parallel (i.e., 0°), +10°, +12°, -12°, and -10° with respect to the occlusal plane. The length of the pins was measured by three radiologists, and the accuracy of these measurements was reported using descriptive statistics and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA); p<0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The differences in radiographic measurements ranged from -0.64 to +0.06 at the orientation of -12°, -0.66 to -0.11 at -10°, -0.51 to +0.19 at 0°, -0.64 to +0.08 at +10°, and -0.64 to +0.1 at +12°. The mean absolute values of the errors were greater at negative orientations than at the parallel position or at positive orientations. The observers underestimated most of the variables by 0.5-0.1 mm (83.6%). In the second set of observations, the reproducibility at all orientations was greater than 0.9. Conclusion: Changing the slice orientation in the range of -12°to +12°reduced the accuracy of linear measurements obtained using CBCT. However, the error value was smaller than 0.5 mm and was, therefore, clinically acceptable. © 2014 by Korean Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology

Removal of some heavy metals from inorganic industrial wastewaters by ion exchange method

Removal of heavy metals such as Cu(II), Cd(II), Zn(II), Ni(Il) and Pb(II) from wastewaters in several industrial areas of Kerman, Iran was evaluated by using ion-exchange method. Dowex 50WX8 (H⁺) resin was selected as suitable adsorbent for reduction of toxic elements in wastewater. The most effective sorption was observed within in pH between 4 - 6, fow rate of 4mL min⁻¹ and amount of 200 mg resin. Sorbent capacities for Cu(II), Cd(II), Zn(II), Ni(II) and Pb(II) were 45; 50; 50; 40 and 60 mg/g respectively. The results determine that exchanger resin is extremely effective in lowering the metal content of wastewaters

Physiological impacts of early defoliation on the cold hardiness of grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) 'Sultana'

Low winter temperatures are one of the limiting factors of grape production worldwide. This study was undertaken to inquire about the effects of postharvest early defoliation on the cold hardiness of grapevine. The grapevines samples, cv. Sultana, were defoliated at two stages (10 and 25 days after harvest), and then they were compared with natural leaf fall. Cane samples were collected in December 2017 and February 2018, and analyzed in terms of water content, soluble carbohydrate, and proline concentrations in both bud and cane tissues. The samples were then subjected to freezing treatments i. e. -8, -12, -15, -18, -21, and -24 °C for evaluating the levels of cold hardiness. Based on these results, early defoliation reduced proline and soluble carbohydrate concentrations but increased the water content compared to the control. Leaf removal also decreased abscisic acid concentration in the bud samples. Investigation of cold hardiness by electrolyte leakage and tetrazolium staining examinations showed that the defoliation decreased cold hardiness. Results demonstrated that leaf removal between the growing season and the beginning of the acclimation stage decreased the metabolite concentration in buds and canes and resulted to a reduction of cold hardiness

Finding rules for audit opinions prediction through data mining methods

Nowadays data mining, which is used in various accounting and financial applications, has received a great deal of attention. One of these applications is predicting and identifying the audit opinion type. The objective of research is to help auditors identify audit opinions by using a support vector machine from data mining methods. The system receives the data from financial reports and identifies the type of audit opinions. This approach combine support vector machine with a decision tree that can understand and interpret the obtained results. In this paper, a novel approach for rule extraction from support vector machine and decision tree is presented and its application is shown in the prediction of audit opinions. The research result is 30 rules that predict the audit opinions
