This paper presents a new method of the flow pattern identification on the basis of the analysis of Power Spectral Density (PSD) from the pressure difference data of horizontal flow. Seven parameters of PSD curve such as mean (K1), variance (K2), mean at 1-3 Hz (K3), mean at 3-8 Hz (K4), mean at 8-13 Hz (K5), mean at 13-25 Hz (K6) and mean at 25-30 Hz (K7) were used as training vector input of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) in order to identify the flow patterns. From the obtained experimental of 123 operating conditions consisting of stratified flow, plug and slug, ANN was trained by using 100 data operation and 23 tested data. The results showed that the new method has a capability to identify the flow patterns of gas-liquid two phase flow with a high accuracy

: tion Classifica Subject s Mathematic 2010 76T10. Keywords: plug flow, differential pressure, probability density function, autocorrelation, power spectral density. Received February 15, 2012 Various measurement tools of statistic and chaos theory were applied to analyze two-phase flow plug. The experiments were carried out on an air-water flow in a horizontal pipe of i.d. 24 mm. These measurement tools included mean, standard deviation, skewness, kurtosis, probability density function, autocorrelation function, and power spectral density function. The statistical analysis represents physical phenomenon that mean, standard deviation, skewness, and kurtosis change linearly to the superficial velocity. The autocorrelation function and power spectral density function analysis demonstrate that the random like differential pressure fluctuations characteristics of plug flow are chaotic in nature

    Get PDF
The objectives of this study were: (a) to validate a research instrument on Indonesian student leadership readiness; (b) to analyze the student leadership readiness, based on the developed instrument; and (c) to describe the student leadership education programs of some universities in Indonesia. Data collection was carried out through two stages. The first stage of data collection is conducting in-depth interviews with resource persons to compile research instruments distributed in the second stage of data collection. The second stage of data collection was in the form of distributing questionnaires to 1,742 respondents. By using factor analysis, this study succeeded in compiling a research instrument named Student's Leadership Readiness Questionnaire (SLRQ). Ultimately, by employing, the analysis of Pearson Product Moment and Cronbach Alpha, the present paper found that the design of the research instrument on student leadership readiness must first be adjusted. That is, some statement items that are declared invalid are excluded from the design of the research instrument so that the number of question items that were originally 25 statement items was reduced to 18 items. The study found as well that the average student leadership readiness in the universities involved in the study was to be high. Meanwhile, the study found that various programs are constituted as an integral part of the leadership education program. Nevertheless, it is necessary to carry out a more effective leadership education design, especially the integration of academic activities, co-curricular activities, and extra-curricular activities in an integrated manner as a whole unit of Indonesian student leadership education

ABSTRACT Land tenure is one of the important factors of household economy. Especially for rural household, land tenure is the income yielding from natural source and is the highest one. Almost all studies of rural household economy are connected with this aspect This study expresses that the major aspects of land tenure are land ownership, either inheritance or purchased land. The distribution pattern of land tenure indirates inequality shown by 0.68 Gini Index. This land tenure inequality will become serious if it is regarded between wet rice field and dry rice field separately. It is shown by 0.80 and 0.73 Gini Index. This study clarifies that the distribution pattern of the total household incomes indicate equality shown by 0.34 Gini Endes. The distribution pattern of the household income will become inequality if it is regarded from farm income size separately, it is shown by 0.52 Gini Index. This study also clarifies that the majority of the total household income is contributed by off farm income. The first finding of this study was the nonsignificant relationship between land tenure broadth with off farm size. This finding was strengthened by the nonsignificant relationship between farm income size with off farm income size. The first conclution emphasized that the hypothesis or positive relationship between land tenure broadth or farm income size with off farm income size, was not true for all owes. The other finding of this study was the negative relationship between land tenure broadth and farm income size with time allocation for off farm activity which was done by household head. This finding strengthened the hypothesis of this study. Key words: land tenure -- shift of employment structure -- off farm employment

The purpose of this study was to examine velocity of the slug flow pattern of air-water. The method used is the visualization of flow patterns using high-speed video camera. The study was conducted on the water superficial velocity 0.139 m/s - 1.952 m/s and the air superficial velocity 1.043 m/s - 3.652 m/s on a horizontal pipe with a diameter of 24 mm pipe. Increase in superficial gas velocity causes the aeration mechanism (gas-phase entry in the form of small bubbles into the liquid phase) to produce slug flow. Constant value C0 in equation Nicklin (1962) obtained in this study correspond to the value proposed by Bendiksen (1984) for Fr> 3.5

Sister city collaboration is an activity carried out based on cooperation agreements between city governments in Indonesia and city governments abroad to mutually improve relations of friendship and understanding between the two countries. The Semarang Government on 11 January 1993 signed the first Sister City Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lord Mayor Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Unfortunately, this MoU of cooperation was halted in 2005, and although the MoU was still ongoing the implementation of the program activities stopped in 1997. The results of previous studies showed several factors as factors supporting the success of sister city cooperation. One of the supporting factors is the factor of human resources (HR). The purpose of this study is to identify aspects of the human resource factor that can support the success of the Semarang-Brisbane sister city activity.Primary data collection in this study was in the form of a questionnaire and interview to eight respondents from various backgrounds. The analysis in this study was carried out using descriptive analysis to describe the opinions of respondents about human resource factors that support the success of Semarang-Brisbane sister city. The results of the study show that the important HR competency factors are those who have an understanding of the culture and language of the partner countries. Whereas according to its importance the competence of human resources is mastering English or other relevant languages, understanding partner countries, experts in the field of international agreements and mastering foreign policy

    Aneurysmal fibrous histiocytoma

Aneurysmal fibrous histiocytoma is rare clinicopathological variant of Cutaneous Fibrous Histiocytoma. The clinical manifestation of Aneurysmal Fibrous Histiocytoma is often confusing to distinguish from other skin lesions. Most of the cases showed rapid increase in size or a history of recurrence, however histologically all are almost similar. Rarity of aneurysmal fibrous histiocytoma and high numbers of recurrence rate poses a big diagnostic challenge. Late treatment will result in a decrease until loss of function of the affected region.  In this article, author reported the case of aneurysmal fibrous histiocytoma of the hand in 7 years old girl with restricted at 2nd-3rd metacarpophalangeal joints. The patient had undergone a series of investigations until finally a wide excision was carried out. Excision tissue was performed CD 68 and CD 34  immunocytochemical smear to establish the diagnosis. It was not simple to make diagnosis aneurysmal fibrous histiocytoma. While it is benign, the lesion can appear malignant, and one should consider an excisional biopsy to rule out malignant conditions. The diagnosis had to be confirmed by histopathological and performed immunocytochemical smear. It was often necessary to take aggressive actions with wide excision and reconstruction

The free vascularized fibular graft has been successfully applied as a reconstruction option in patient with large secondary skeletal defects result from excision of pathologic tissue after neurofibroma surgical excision. It provides a strong cortical strut for reconstruction of defects, so that the free vascularized fibular graft is ideal for ulna reconstruction. A 22-year-old male with lump in his right forearm for 3 months previously which become bigger and more painful. There was also sings of ulnar nerve disfunction. From the CPC result, we diagnosed forearm neurofibroma. We performed wide excision and reconstruction using free vascularized fibular graft. On the last follow up, the active and passive ranges of motion (ROM) of 4th and 5th metacarpal was measured with the help of a goniometer. The ulnar neurological state was tested by manual testing and graded on the Medical research council (MRC) scale. Four weeks after surgery, the operation wound at the right forearm and right lower leg was good and no infection signs. The graft viability was good with compromised vascularity. The post-operative passive and active ROM of the 4th and 5th metacarpal able did full extend. The post-operative sensoris level of the ulnar area improved from pre-operative sensoris level.Post-operative follow-up, in the early period (up to 6 weeks) we monitor the graft viability. Our case reported good result in the operation wound, the graft viability, the passive and active ROM of the 4th and 5th metacarpal and the sensoris level of the ulnar area

    No full text
This study was a multi-site case study conducted in three Catholic universities in Indonesia. This was also a descriptive and a correlative research that was undertaken to; (1) describe the profiles of the three universities; (2) describe the characteristics of organizational culture; (3) describe the characteristics and gaps of organizational climate; (4) describe the characteristics of faculty performance; (5) determine the relationships of organizational culture, organizational climate, and faculty performance; (6) propose the strategic directions for managing organizational culture and organizational climate of each of those three universities. The units of analysis of this study were three Catholic universities that were located in the three dioceses in Java Region, Indonesia; namely: Widya Mandala Madiun Catholic University, Soegijapranata Catholic University, and Widya Karya Catholic University. The respondents were the full-time faculty members and administrators of each of the three universities who were purposively selected on the basis of: the length of experience, the completion of the probationary status, and the attainment of the formal academic rank. This study employed a set of developed instruments such as those for assessing: (1) organizational culture; (2) organizational climate; and (3) faculty performance. In gathering the data, this study used questionnaires and document findings. In analyzing the data, the study employed descriptive statistical analysis, Spearman Correlation Coefficient, and simple content analysis. This study found that: (1) the profiles of each of the universities were varied. The most interesting condition was about the composition of the students of each of the three universities that was dominated by the College of Economics, even though this study program was seemingly generic. (2). The types of organizational culture of each of the three universities were very specific, and there were no single culture-type. In terms of the strength of the organizational culture, however, all of those were categorized in the weak area. Moreover, the study found that the organizational values of each of the three universities that were perceived by the respondents were mostly inconsistent with the essence of the vision and mission statements of the university. (3). The characteristics of organizational climate of each of the three universities were also dissimilar from each other, including the seven organizational climate dimensions. Moreover, the gap between the actual and the ideal position of organizational climate of each of the three universities were positioned in the warning and low gap area. (4). The characteristics of the faculty performance of each of the three universities were varied; and, its positions were in the low and lowly moderate performance area. (5). The relationship of organizational culture and organizational climate of each of the three universities was positively significant. Meanwhile, the relationships of organizational culture and organizational climate to faculty performance were not significant. (6). Three ‘grand strategies’ and the continuance strategies were proposed to each of the three universities. The implementation of those strategies, however, was dependent on the deliberation of the university administrators. Based on the finding and its implications, several recommendations were made such as; (1) the concept of the management by values (MBV) should be considered as the ‘basic need’ of each of the three universities in accordance with the vision-mission and the perceived organizational values expressed by the respondents; (2) the regular spiritual activities, social solidarity, community services, cultural appreciation, and other activities for nurturing the attitudes of openness should become the integral parts of the university strategy; (3) the follow up of the proposed strategies would by fully positioned on the deliberation of the university administrators; (4) the leadership training for university leaders should also become the integral part of the university strategy; (5) the expansion of the study through the utilization of the additional variables and the more complex analysis would be important in the future
