On FRW Model in Conformal Teleparallel Gravity
In this paper we use the conformal teleparallel gravity to study an isotropic
and homogeneous Universe which is settled by the FRW metric. We solve the field
equations and we obtain the behavior of some cosmological parameters such as
scale factor, deceleration parameter and the energy density of the perfect
fluid which is the matter field of our model. The field equations, that we
called modified Friedmann equations, allow us to define a dark fluid, with dark
energy density and dark pressure, responsible for the acceleration in the
Universe.Comment: Accepted in EPJ
Parameterized Complexity of Equitable Coloring
A graph on vertices is equitably -colorable if it is -colorable and
every color is used either or times.
Such a problem appears to be considerably harder than vertex coloring, being
even for cographs and interval graphs.
In this work, we prove that it is for block
graphs and for disjoint union of split graphs when parameterized by the number
of colors; and for -free interval graphs
when parameterized by treewidth, number of colors and maximum degree,
generalizing a result by Fellows et al. (2014) through a much simpler
reduction.
Using a previous result due to Dominique de Werra (1985), we establish a
dichotomy for the complexity of equitable coloring of chordal graphs based on
the size of the largest induced star.
Finally, we show that \textsc{equitable coloring} is when
parameterized by the treewidth of the complement graph
Non universality of entanglement convertibility
Recently, it has been suggested that operational properties connected to
quantum computation can be alternative indicators of quantum phase transitions.
In this work we systematically study these operational properties in 1D systems
that present phase transitions of different orders. For this purpose, we
evaluate the local convertibility between bipartite ground states. Our results
suggest that the operational properties, related to non-analyticities of the
entanglement spectrum, are good detectors of explicit symmetries of the model,
but not necessarily of phase transitions. We also show that thermodynamically
equivalent phases, such as Luttinger liquids, may display different
convertibility properties depending on the underlying microscopic model.Comment: 5 pages + references, 4 figures - improved versio
The HARPS search for southern extrasolar planets XXI. Three new giant planets orbiting the metal-poor stars HD5388, HD181720, and HD190984
We present the discovery of three new giant planets around three
metal-deficient stars: HD5388b (1.96M_Jup), HD181720b (0.37M_Jup), and
HD190984b (3.1M_Jup). All the planets have moderately eccentric orbits (ranging
from 0.26 to 0.57) and long orbital periods (from 777 to 4885 days). Two of the
stars (HD181720 and HD190984) were part of a program searching for giant
planets around a sample of ~100 moderately metal-poor stars, while HD5388 was
part of the volume-limited sample of the HARPS GTO program. Our discoveries
suggest that giant planets in long period orbits are not uncommon around
moderately metal-poor stars.Comment: Accepted for publication in A&A (replaced by version with minor

Quantum open systems and turbulence
We show that the problem of non conservation of energy found in the
spontaneous localization model developed by Ghirardi, Rimini and Weber is very
similar to the inconsistency between the stochastic models for turbulence and
the Navier-Stokes equation. This sort of analogy may be useful in the
development of both areas.Comment: to appear in Physical Review
