A taxonomic review of the Neotropical weevil genus Bondarius (Coleoptera: Curculionidae)

ABSTRACT The eight species of Bondarius Rosado-Neto, 2006 are distributed in South, Central and North America, and the Caribbean: B. tuberculatus (Boheman, 1836), B. subrufus (Fiedler, 1936), B. breyeri (Brèthes, 1910), B. fuscoaeneus (Boheman, 1843), B. sublaevicollis (Hustache, 1939), B. nitidus (Champion, 1902), B. spinipes (Champion, 1902) and B. pectoralis (Suffrian, 1872). This study presents a taxonomic review of the genus and redescription of the known species, provides illustrations of the external morphology, mouthparts and genitalia of males and females, and an identification key to species

Aspectos morfológicos de Pseudopiazurus obesus (Boheman) e considerações sobre a sinonímia com Pseudopiazurus papayanus (Marshall) (Coleoptera, Curculionidae)

Apresenta-se uma redescrição da broca do mamoeiro, Pseudopiazurus obesus (Boheman, 1838), incluindo pela primeira vez, descrições e ilustrações das peças bucais. Pseudopiazurus papayanus (Marshall, 1922) é considerado sinônimo junior de P. obesus, com base em semelhanças estruturais das peças bucais e genitália de machos e fêmeas. ABSTRACT A morphological aspects study of the papaw borer weevil Pseudopiazurus obesus (Boheman, 1838) is given and figured. Data on the mouthparts are presented and illustrated for the first time. Pseudopiazurus papayanus (Marshall, 1922) is considered as a junior synonym of the P. obesus, based on structural similarities of mouthparts, male and female genitalia. RÉSUMÉ Le charançon du papayer, Pseudopiazurus obesus (Boheman, 1838), est redécrit et pour la première fois pour ce genre il est rapportée la description et illustration du organe buccal. Pseudopiazurus papayanus (Marshall, 1922) est aussi proposèe comme synonyme junior de P. obesus

A ETNOBOTÂNICA E O ENSINO DE BOTÂNICA DO ENSINO FUNDAMENTAL: POSSIBILIDADES METODOLÓGICAS PARA UMA PRÁTICA CONTEXTUALIZADA

O etnoconhecimento é apropriado a partir dos conhecimentos culturais e empíricos intrínsecos aos grupamentos sociais e pode ser perdido ao longo da vida escolar das pessoas, os valores de conhecimento cultural aos poucos podem ser substituídos pelo conhecimento de cunho científico nas escolas. A pesquisa realizada no Colégio Estadual Prof. Silvandira Sousa Lima localizada em Araguaína - Tocantins, objetivou verificar o resgate dos conhecimentos tradicionais, de alunos do 7º ano do Ensino Fundamental, fazendo um apanhado dos conhecimentos botânicos da turma, medicinal; Partes das plantas utilizadas; Formas de uso; Indicações medicinais e prepara os remédios a partir das plantas para os amigos e os alunos pesquisados, levantando informações sobre o uso de plantas medicinais. A pesquisa utiliza métodos de qualidade, entrevistas semiestruturadas, análise de desenhos, identificação do estudante e conhecimentos informais. Essa pesquisa foi realizada para descobrir um valor do conhecimento em etnobotânica na sala de aula, investigando o conhecimento popular que os alunos tratam sobre plantas que utilizam este saber para contextualizar o Ensino de Ciências, sempre na intenção de melhorar os índices de conhecimento em ciências dos alunos Da Educação Básica

Morphological aspects of the genitalia of seven species of Heilus Kuschel (Coleoptera, Curculionidae)

Morphological aspects of the male and female genitalia and their associated sclerites, abdominal tergite and sternite 8, are described, illustrated and discussed for seven species of Heilus Kuschel 1955 of tribe and subtribe Hylobiini-Hylobiina. The seven species are H. faldermanni (Boheman, 1836); H. fasciculatus (Boheman, 1843); H. freyreissi (Boheman, 1836); H. myops (Boheman, 1836); H. pupillatus (Olivier, 1790); H. rufescens (Boheman, 1836) and H. tuberculosus (Perty, 1832)

The elytro-tergal stridulatory organ that occurs in Bondarius Rosado-Neto, 2006 a genus of the tribe Sternechini (Curculionidae, Molytinae) is described and illustrated. The stridulatory apparatus is present both in male and female and is composed by the file, a narrow elevated carina which is transversely multistriate located at the apical third of the internal side near the suture of left elytron, and by the plectrum, a narrow striate area located transversely at the dorso-apical margin of the abdominal tergite 7

Cerambycidae (Insecta, Coleoptera) Associados à Vochysia divergens Pohl (Vochysiaceae) na Região Norte do Pantanal de Mato Grosso, Brasil

This study aims the registration of the association between Cerambycidae and Vochysia divergens Pohl (Vochysiaceae), typical plant species of the northern region of the Pantanal of Mato Grosso that besides forming monodominant stands and is considered a weed of fields and pastures in this region. In this study, branches and trunks of this specie were collected over one year (July/1999 - June/2000) and lab monitored for density and emergency time evaluation of Cerambycidae. As results 277 individuals were sampled, representing three species of Cerambycidae, Psapharochrus bivittis (White), Luscosmodicum beaveari Martins and Neoeme bouvieri Gounelle. In addition to registration of the association, it was noted that the emergence peak of Cerambycidae coincides with the beginning of flood and high water period in northern Pantanal, showing the synchronization between the biological development of this species and the hydrological cycle in this regionEste estudo apresenta registro da associação entre três espécies de Cerambycidae e Vochysia divergens Pohl (Vochysiaceae), espécie vegetal típica da região norte do Pantanal de Mato Grosso, que além de formar adensamentos monodominantes é considerada uma invasora de campos e pastagens nativas nesta região. Neste estudo, galhos e troncos desta espécie vegetal foram coletados ao longo de um ano (julho/1999 a junho/2000) e monitorados em laboratório para avaliação da densidade e período de emergência dos cerambicídeos. Como resultado, foram amostrados 277 indivíduos, representando três espécies de Cerambycidae, Psapharochrus bivittis (White), Luscosmodicum beaveari Martins e Neoeme bouvieri Gounelle. Além do registro da associação, observou-se que o pico de emergência dos Cerambycidae coincide com o início do período de enchente e cheia na região norte do Pantanal, evidenciando o sincronismo entre o desenvolvimento biológico destas espécies e o ciclo hidrológico desta região
