Although computer supported collaborative learning has been widely adopted in many educational institutions over the last decade, there exist still drawbacks which limit their potential in collaborative learning activities. Among these limitations, we investigate information security requirements in on-line assessment, (e-assessment), which can be developed in collaborative learning contexts. Despite information security enhancements have been developed in recent years, to the best of our knowledge, integrated and holistic security models have not been completely carried out yet. Even when security advanced methodologies and technologies are deployed in Learning Management Systems, too many types of vulnerabilities still remain opened and unsolved. Therefore, new models such as trustworthiness approaches can overcome these lacks and support e-assessment requirements for e-Learning. To this end, a trustworthiness model is designed in order to conduct the guidelines of a holistic security model for on-line collaborative learning through effective trustworthiness approaches. In addition, since users' trustworthiness analysis involves large amounts of ill-structured data, a parallel processing paradigm is proposed to build relevant information modeling trustworthiness levels for e-Learning.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft

Prospects for transient gravitational waves at r-mode frequencies associated with pulsar glitches

    Get PDF
t Glitches in pulsars are likely to trigger oscillation modes in the fluid interior of neutron stars. We examined these oscillations specifically at r-mode frequencies. The excited r-modes will emit gravitational waves and can have long damping time scales (minutes - days). We use simple estimates of how much energy the glitch might put into the r-mode and assess the detectability of the emitted gravitational waves with future interferometers

In this context, e-Learning stakeholders, are increasingly demanding new requirements, among them, information security is considered as a critical factor involved in on-line collaborative processes. Information security determines the accurate development of learning activities, especially when a group of students carries out on-line assessment, which conducts to grades or certificates, in these cases, IS is an essential issue that has to be considered. To date, even most advances security technological solutions have drawbacks that impede the development of overall security e-Learning frameworks. For this reason, this paper suggests enhancing technological security models with functional approaches, namely, we propose a functional security model based on trustworthiness and collective intelligence. Both of these topics are closely related to on-line collaborative learning and on-line assessment models. Therefore, the main goal of this paper is to discover how security can be enhanced with trustworthiness in an on-line collaborative learning scenario through the study of the collective intelligence processes that occur on on-line assessment activities. To this end, a peer-to-peer public student's profile model, based on trustworthiness is proposed, and the main collective intelligence processes involved in the collaborative on-line assessments activities, are presented.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft

The study of the temporal judo combat structure of athletes with visual impairment (VI) needs further research. The objectives of the study were to determine the temporal structure of combat of judo in men and women with VI and establish differences between sexes, within their respective weight categories and between the different minutes of combat. The sample was formed by all the judokas with VI who participated in the 2018 IBSA Judo World Championship (172 men and 95 women). Through observational methodology, we analysed all the combats (n = 365). In order to obtain the results, we used different analytical techniques: descriptive, one-way ANOVA, t-test to show independents, chi-square, effect size and T-Patterns analysis. The level of significance was ρ ≤ .05. The results define a temporal structure by sex and by weight category that allows the judo professionals to plan precise and adequate trainings for the athletes. We conclude that there are differences in the temporal structure of judo combat within the men and women with VI, within their respective weight categories and within the different minutes of combat. The temporal structure of combat has changed more markedly in women and unevenly in the different weight categories for both sexes

The study of the temporary judo combat structure presents various problems. The judokas (B1-B2-B3) do not compete with equal fighting conditions. The objectives of the study are to determine the temporary structure of judo combat in women with visual impairment, test if the changes in rules have modified the temporality of combat, and establish if there are differences between the visual categories. Of the judokas with visual impairment that competed in the 2018 IBSA Judo World Championship (94 women), all of them participated. By means of observational methodology, we analysed all of the combats (n = 133). In order to obtain the results, we used different analysis techniques: descriptive, one-way ANOVA, t-test to show independents, effect size and detection of t-patterns. The level of significance established for the study was ρ ≤ 0.05. The results determined a temporary structure for each weight category. With these, the judo professionals will be able to develop precise and suitable trainings for these athletes. We conclude that the combat temporality has changed. There are differences among visual categories, the B1 judokas win only a few combats and their combats are shorter. We consider it necessary to equalise the competition conditions

The new financing system of the Common Autonomous Communities (2002) has meant an important rise of their tax powers (tax copartnership). Also, a new system of intergovernmental grants has been applied with the objective to assure the financial sufficiency of the Spanish Autonomous Communities. This new model is implanted when all the Autonomous Communities have reached their highest powers, according to the Spanish Constitution (1978), and a stable and integrated financing system was designed. Already known the first results of the model (2002 and 2003), in this paper the advances in financial sufficiency and equalization are analyzed, and we offer some conclusions regarding the main unfinished questions.
