At present, in Colombia there is a unique historical moment that frames the application of a new scheme of justice - transitional justice -, a first line and controversial issue, which is part of the legal mechanisms to transform a society into internal conflict towards a transit to The peace, which was generated in the confrontation - armed rebellion - between the group called FARC EP - Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia Ejército del Pueblo-, and Colombian State-Law of Law-, which has lasted more than 50 years in a continuous way in which attempts have been made to put an end to the confrontation without there being agreement. Thus, the warring parties - enemies - have come to dialogue with the purpose of ending the armed conflict through civilized consensus with the aim of giving it a happy ending through the design of a more inclusive society, in the That the weapons must be replaced by politics because the transformations of society will be through democratic instruments and not through violence. In this way, the armed rebellion will cease its action to overthrow the existing constitutional and legal institutions and, in turn, the Colombian State will not confront it. It should be remembered that the Colombian reality taught that during the period of intense war the state did not defeat the guerrillas and it did not defeat the National Army either, so it could not impose with weapons the model of a just society they preach. The scenario of the Colombian armed conflict is but a useless fratricidal armed confrontation - between brothers - of the same Homeland. The present research aims to determine the role of victims in the construction of the model of transitional justice within the context of the dialogues initiated in 2012 between the State and the Revolutionary Armed Forces - F.A.RC. EP - in Havana, Cuba, which lasted until December 2016. Therefore, a qualitative methodology is developed, aimed at the application in the factual reality of the transitional justice component, listening to the intervention of the victims in the Final agreement of the internal armed conflict of Colombia

Cuticle Structure in Relation to Chemical Composition: Re-assessing the Prevailing Model

    Get PDF
The surface of most aerial plant organs is covered with a cuticle that provides protection against multiple stress factors including dehydration. Interest on the nature of this external layer dates back to the beginning of the 19th century and since then, several studies facilitated a better understanding of cuticular chemical composition and structure. The prevailing undertanding of the cuticle as a lipidic, hydrophobic layer which is independent from the epidermal cell wall underneath stems from the concept developed by Brongniart and von Mohl during the first half of the 19th century. Such early investigations on plant cuticles attempted to link chemical composition and structure with the existing technologies, and have not been directly challenged for decades. Beginning with a historical overview about the development of cuticular studies, this review is aimed at critically assessing the information available on cuticle chemical composition and structure, considering studies performed with cuticles and isolated cuticular chemical components. The concept of the cuticle as a lipid layer independent from the cell wall is subsequently challenged, based on the existing literature, and on new findings pointing toward the cell wall nature of this layer, also providing examples of different leaf cuticle structures. Finally, the need for a re-assessment of the chemical and structural nature of the plant cuticle is highlighted, considering its cell wall nature and variability among organs, species, developmental stages, and biotic and abiotic factors during plant growth

Design of Low-Cost Vehicle Roll Angle Estimator Based on Kalman Filters and an IoT Architecture

In recent years, there have been many advances in vehicle technologies based on the efficient use of real-time data provided by embedded sensors. Some of these technologies can help you avoid or reduce the severity of a crash such as the Roll Stability Control (RSC) systems for commercial vehicles. In RSC, several critical variables to consider such as sideslip or roll angle canonly be directly measured using expensive equipment. These kind of devices would increase the priceof commercial vehicles. Nevertheless, sideslip or roll angle or values can be estimated using MEMSsensors in combination with data fusion algorithms. The objectives stated for this research workconsist of integrating roll angle estimators based on Linear and Unscented Kalman filters to evaluatethe precision of the results obtained and determining the fulfillment of the hard real-time processing constraints to embed this kind of estimators in IoT architectures based on low-cost equipment able to be deployed in commercial vehicles. An experimental testbed composed of a van with two setsof low-cost kits was set up, the first one including a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, and the other having an Intel Edison System on Chip. This experimental environment was tested under different conditions for comparison. The results obtained from low-cost experimental kits, based on IoT architecturesand including estimators based on Kalman filters, provide accurate roll angle estimation. Also, these results show that the processing time to get the data and execute the estimations based on Kalman Filters fulfill hard real time constraints. This work has been supported by Project funded by the Spanish Government, Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (Intelligent system of prevention of vuelco in commercial vehicles based on FPGAS [TRA2013-48030-C2-1-R]

Ultrastructure of Plant Leaf Cuticles in relation to Sample Preparation as Observed by Transmission Electron Microscopy

    Get PDF
The leaf cuticular ultrastructure of some plant species has been examined by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) in only few studies. Attending to the different cuticle layers and inner structure, plant cuticles have been grouped into six general morphological types. With the aim of critically examining the effect of cuticle isolation and preparation for TEM analysis on cuticular ultrastructure, adaxial leaf cuticles of blue-gum eucalypt, grey poplar, and European pear were assessed, following a membrane science approach. The embedding and staining protocols affected the ultrastructure of the cuticles analysed. The solubility parameter, surface tension, and contact angles with water of pure Spurr's and LR-White resins were within a similar range. Differences were however estimated for resin : solvent mixtures, since Spurr’s resin is combined with acetone and LR-White resin is mixed with ethanol. Given the composite hydrophilic and lipophilic nature of plant cuticles, the particular TEM tissue embedding and staining procedures employed may affect sample ultrastructure and the interpretation of the results in physicochemical and biological terms. It is concluded that tissue preparation procedures may be optimised to facilitate the observation of the micro- and nanostructure of cuticular layers and components with different degrees of polarity and hydrophobicity

The effect of rapid thermal annealing on the photoluminescence of InAsN/InGaAs dot-in-a-well structures

    Get PDF
The effect of post-growth rapid thermal annealing on the optical characteristics of InAsN/InGaAs dot-in-a-well DWELL structures grown by molecular beam epitaxy on GaAs(1 0 0) has been studied. InAs/InGaAs DWELL structures have been used as a reference. Photoluminescence measurements of these samples show similar optical effects, such as a blueshift of the peak wavelength and a reduction of the full width of at half maximum PL emission, in both types of structures up to an annealing temperature of 750 °C. Nevertheless, at 850 °C, these effects are much more pronounced in the structures with N. These results suggest that an additional As–N interdiffusion process inside the InAsN quantum dots plays a dominant role in these effects at high annealing temperatures (850 °C) on InAsN/InGaAs structures

Vertical composition fluctuations in (Ga,In)(N,As) quantum wells grown on vicinal (1 1 1) B GaAs

In this work, we present a detailed transmission electron microscopy analysis of the interfacial structure and composition uniformity of (Ga,In)(N,As) quantum wells grown by molecular beam epitaxy on vicinal GaAs(1 1 1)B substrates. Vertical composition fluctuations inside the (Ga,In)(N,As) quantum well are detected depending on the growth conditions, in particular the V/III flux ratio and the growth rate. This vertical composition fluctuation due to the phase separation tendency is in contrast to the (0 0 1) case, where the fluctuations proceed in the lateral direction. The specific character of the phase instabilities is discussed with respect to the spinodal decomposition of the (Ga,In)(N,As) alloy grown by step-flow on the misoriented (1 1 1)B substrates. The vertical composition fluctuations are explained by the formation of step bunches of alternating composition as a consequence of the different propagation velocity of steps with different atom terminations
