Autonomous mobile robots are ever increasing their number of different applications, even in ludic applications or in sports. In the last few years, several robotic football competitions have been organised with participating teams from all over the world. This paper describes a team of Autonomous Mobile Robots which play football, developed by the Group of Automation and Robotics at the Industrial Electronics department (School of Engineering) of the University of Minho, in Guimarães (Portugal). In these competitions each team is free to use and/or build all the different electronics, sensory systems, playing algorithms, etc. as far as they cope with the rules imposed by the organisation. From every team new ideas emerge, sometimes the most incredible ones, but proving in the end that they work. These competitions proved to be very fruitful scientifically as well as very mediatic

This vi sion system uses an innovative approach In order to see the whole field a convex mirror was placed on the top of the robot looking downwards with the video camera looking upwards towards the mirror This way the robot can see both goals the ball and other robots almost all the time as well as having a top view

This paper describes an Autonomous Mobile Robot team which plays football, developed by the Group of Automation and Robotics at the Industrial Electronics department of the University of Minho, in Guimarães (Portugal). In this competition each team is free to use and/or build all the different electronics, sensory systems, playing algorithms, etc. as far as they cope with the rules imposed by the organisation. Instead of using several different sensors increasing electronics complexity, this team decided to use only one major sensor: a vision system with a small colour camera. All the image processing algorithms were developed from scratch and they consist on the heart of the whole project. This vision system uses an innovative approach: in order to see the whole field, a convex mirror was placed at the top of the robot looking downwards with the video camera looking upwards towards the mirror. This way, the robot can see all around itself with a top view, which means continuous vision of the ball, goals and other robots.(undefined

This paper describes an autonomous robot football team. The work is being carried out since 1998. It describes the hardware used by the robots, the sensory system and interfaces, as well as the game strategy. Data acquisition for the perception level is carried out by the vision system, and the image processing system is described. Two cameras are used requiring sensorial fu-sion. With this architecture, an attempted is made to make the autonomous ro-bots more real world intelligent. These robots have a kicker with controlled power, which allows passing the ball to a teammate with controlled distance and direction.(undefined

Research and development in the robotics field can be greatly improved by attracting people with different challenges. RoboCup consists of a new challenge in which a team of robot players are supposed to play football with similar rules to the human football. This paper describes an Autonomous Mobile Robot Minho team solution. The robots were designed and developed by a group of undergraduate students from the Group of Automation and Robotics from the Industrial Electronics Department of the University of Minho, in Guimarães (Portugal). They were all built (electronics and mechanics) and programmed from scratch with a reduced budget. The main advantage of these robots consists on the image acquisition and processing. It uses a video camera pointing upwards to a convex mirror facing down. With this technique, most of the field is visible, facilitating the strategy of the game

Conclusão: O perfil da produção científica retratada contribui como elemento estratégico para a consolidação da memória de pesquisa do INMA.Introduction: this study considers as object of analysis the scientific articles production affiliated to the National Institute of the Atlantic Forest (INMA). It aims to recognize visibility, impact, thematic and collaborative relationships established by researchers afilliated to the Institute over ten years (2009-2018). It starts from the scientific question: how is this scientific production configured regarding priority thematic areas, journals, authors, institutions and most productive countries, and what is its impact on the citations received? Method: it adopts the metric studies of information as methodology, identifying a corpus of 73 articles linked to INMA by the institutional affiliation of its researchers over a period of ten years. It uses the Scopus database to identify this production and also the Scival database as an instrument to generate indicators. Results: it points out that the production affiliated to INMA has high internationalization rates, as it is published in 72% of international journals. In addition, the corpus receives a high average of citations (4.22 citations per article). The articles with the highest number of citations have greater impact than the average citations of the journals in which they are published. Interinstitutional relations and between authors are built in line with the thematic and historical scope of the institute, consolidating areas and research trends on zoology and botany. Conclusion: the profile of the scientific production portrayed contributes as a strategic element for the consolidation of INMA’s research memory

On the basis of previous statistical work with data and information from RAIS - Relação Anual de Informações Sociais, characterizing the Nova Serrana shoe industry as a local production system, and the results of a field research work with visits and interviews in local firms and institutions, this paper studies the Nova Serrana local production system as a whole as well as its firms and supporting institutions. The objective is to bring empirical evidence to guide public policy and private actions with a view to upgrade the local system in two spheres: (1) productive and technological, and (2) institutional and organizational. With this purpose in mind, this paper first characterizes and describes the local system in terms of location, adjoining influenced areas, logistics, population and number of jobs, history and evolution, production structure, supporting institutions, and social, cultural and political contexts. Next, the paper characterizes local firms in terms of size, product development, trading system, cooperation between rival firms, interactions with suppliers, sources of information for product development and on market trends and production technologies, practices and policies with regard to quality, financing, and other aspects. Finally, the paper summarizes the most relevant issues for policy measures and private actions by local firms and institutions
