    Desafios para a participação popular em saúde: reflexões a partir da educação popular na construção de conselho local de saúde em comunidades de João Pessoa, PB

    A participação popular constitui uma força social capaz de elencar prioridades e influir nos serviços públicos de saúde, impulsionando a formulação de políticas para a promoção da saúde como um direito, de forma equânime, democrática e participativa. A organização da representação popular em conselhos de saúde vem avançando desde sua garantia na Lei 8.142/90, fazendo deste um espaço para fiscalização de ações e dinamização do controle social. Nesse contexto, o projeto de extensão "Práticas Integrais da Nutrição na Atenção Básica em Saúde - PINAB", do Departamento de Nutrição/UFPB, vem atuando no processo de fortalecimento da participação popular na saúde a partir da construção de um conselho local de saúde (CLS), em uma Unidade de Saúde da Família (USF), em João Pessoa/PB. Este trabalho pretende sistematizar essa experiência, por meio da inserção dos extensionistas no processo e sua participação ativa nas ações desenvolvidas. Utilizando como metodologia a educação popular, o grupo operativo Mobilização Popular atuou por meio de: Visitas domiciliares, no intuito de reconhecer os movimentos sociais locais, para compreender a sua história de luta; e Atividades educativas, que visam contribuir para a participação comunitária no CLS e aprimorar os conhecimentos dos sujeitos envolvidos, favorecendo assim, o diálogo e o compartilhamento de saberes entre os mesmos. Ante o exposto, o PINAB pôde gerar movimentos e interlocuções para colaborar com o fortalecimento da gestão participativa na USF ao apoiar os espaços de formação e informação sobre o CLS, cooperando com o aprimoramento do senso crítico e estimulando a construção de um conselho verdadeiramente democrático

    Statistical tools application on dextranase production from Pochonia chlamydosporia (VC4) and its application on dextran removal from sugarcane juice

    The aim of this study was to optimize the dextranase production by fungus Pochonia chlamydosporia (VC4) and evaluate its activity in dextran reduction in sugarcane juice. The effects, over the P. chlamydosporia dextranase production, of different components from the culture medium were analyzed by Plackett-Burman design and central composite design. The response surface was utilized to determine the levels that, among the variables that influence dextranase production, provide higher production of these enzymes. The enzymatic effect on the removal of dextran present in sugarcane juice was also evaluated. It was observed that only NaNO3 and pH showed significant effect (p<0.05) over dextranase production and was determined that the levels which provided higher enzyme production were, respectively, 5 g/L and 5.5. The dextranases produced by fungus P. chlamydosporia reduced by 75% the dextran content of the sugarcane juice once treated for 12 hours, when compared to the control treatment

    In vitro and in silico characterization of a novel dextranase from Pochonia chlamydosporia

    The objective of this study was to purify, characterize, and phylogenetically and structurally analyze the dextranase produced by the fungus Pochonia chlamydosporia. Dextranase produced by the fungus P. chlamydosporia was purified to homogeneity in two steps, with a yield of 152%, purification factor of 6.84 and specific activity of 358.63 U/mg. Its molecular weight was estimated by SDS-PAGE at 64 kDa. The enzyme presented higher activity at 50 °C and pH 5.0, using 100 mM citrate–phosphate buffer, was inhibited by Ag1+, Hg2+, Cu2+, Mg2+, and presented KM of 23.60 µM. Mature dextranase is composed of 585 amino acids residues, with a predicted molecular weight of 64.38 kDa and pI 5.96. This dextranase showed a strong phylogenetic similarity when compared to Trichoderma harzianum dextranase. Its structure consists of two domains: the first composed by 15 β strands, and the second composed by a right-handed parallel β-helix

    Evaluation of the properties of natural rubber bio composite and guava residue (Psidium guajava L.) as sustainable application

    In juice and pulp extraction, about 10% of fruit waste is generated, which often ends up in landfills that can cause environmental damage, serve as food for insects and rodents, and cause health problems for humans. In this work, micronized guava waste was used as a filler in vulcanized compounds in natural rubber. Mechanical properties such as hardness, tensile strength, tear resistance, and abrasion resistance were evaluated, as well as thermal properties such as thermogravimetric analysis, in addition to scanning electron microscopy, X-ray fluorescence, elemental analysis, and infrared spectroscopy. According to the results of the mechanical properties tests, the addition of up to 20 phr of the filler tends to improve the tensile strength of the composites, resulting in an increase in the density of cross-links obtained through the Flory-Rehner method. The thermal behavior analyzed by TGA and FTIR spectra were not affected by the incorporation of fillers
